There is a fan bolted to the wall above the bed so that you can blow on me during the night. The air conditioning works well. The wifi signal is strong in my room And the television work.
Despite the confirmation from booking dot com and email that I sent to their hotmail address days before I left, the staff had no knowledge or record of a reservation for me when I arrived. I got the confirmed room rate by showing them a screenshot on my smartphone. Everybody was very pleasant about. Just like last year, there is not sufficient light in the bathroom for shaving; I see an obscure shadow of myself in the mirror. Common for the Dominican Republic, water leaks from the shower even when I get the doors to slide shot and does not drain well, because the floor is uneven. All things considered, the price is high for what the building has to offer, but for someone who has a lot of time in this city, the location is very good. I brought a small portable strong box that attaches to furniture with a cable because there is no safe actually available to the guests. My room this year is better than the one across the hall that I had last year. Several power outages are only on this floor of the hotel because either the people that work here or the amateurs that they hired keep messing with the electricity, when they have no training or competence in that field.
The staff are friendly and helpful; rooms are clean and serviced thoroughly everyday; a locked gate and buzzer system at the entrance insures security of the building.
Well run and quier. Very secure
Three block walk to restaurants at night didn't feel very safe.
willingness to solve problems. nice position. safe
i have book 2 night. the first room was a total nightmare.Bedroom and bathroom was in fact the same room, incredible noise coming from the air conditioner outside. every minute 5 seconds of loudly noise. No sound isolation from the room on the side. After my complains the owner was so kind and give to me the best room of the hostal. this room was perfect.
Good location. Near Avenida Bolivar and from there you can easily walk to the historic district. It's also located near Avenida Independencia. And from there you can easily catch city buses to the main bus terminal where you can take a public minibus with A/C to the beach of Boca Chica for about 2 dollars.
This is a very decent place to stay for someone who is familiar with the city or the country. The price was exactly the same as quoted on my booking and they charged no extra fees. The laundry service was the most reasonably priced at a hotel that I have ever experienced and it was always return to me on the same day. There is a basic breakfast included, with juice and very good coffee. Everyone there was very pleasant the whole time. Unlike some other places in that neighborhood in the same price range, the air conditioning can be turned on every hour of the day, without an extra charge. WiFi and cable tv work well, as long as the municipal power is on. They do have their own power plant.
It is an old building and being remodeled, probably remodeled a lot over the last 10 years. The bathroom is an odd shape and there was no light over the sink and mirror in my room, so I basically had to shave from memory. The shared kitchen available to all the guests was in a part of the building that I only saw once on the first day. It had all of the appliances, plenty of shelves and counter space, but not a single pan, plate or fork. This may be improved in the future, but the employee who showed it to me on the first day implied that the shared kitchen was expected to only be used by the guests in the three suites next to it.
