La Mami River Beach - Caribean House  

The location is wonderful (beach + lake), the owner is beyond nice (and so were the coffee and pineapples La Mami produces), staff are also very friendly and helpful, the garden was beautiful, breakfast was great, wi-fi worked...

Joel (the owner) is a very nice guy. He will do all his best for you to feel like you're at home. Every request about the stay, surroundings, excursions will be satisfied. The property itself located just few steps from the sea. Most of time you're the only person on site (except security) so this is an ideal place to getaway.

Nothing wrong. Everything was as expected for this kind of place.

We had a wonderful stay. The grounds are beautiful and peaceful and the house is quaint and very private. The staff is there 24 hours and we felt very safe and well attended the entire stay. A traditional Dominican breakfast is served every morning by the ocean, with fantastic coffee roasted right on the grounds. It is truly a magical place and we can't wait to return.

Los Patos is only about 30km from Barahona, but you must travel on extremely poor roads, so it takes about an hour. This is the closest city. I don't think that should deter anyone, but plan ahead with food and supplies and try not to make the trip in the dark. If we had been traveling alone, there was plenty of food close by in the Colmados, local cafes and road side vendors, but with slightly picky teenagers, we had to make the trip into the city. Had I known how remote Los Patos was, I would have been a bit more prepared up front.

The owner is very friendly and accommodating. His staff is also very friendly. You're the only clients when staying at La mami, and they treat you like kings and queens. The location is superb: right by the sea front. There is a small river of fresh water running between the house and the sea for refreshing swims (clear water, beautiful!). The village of Los Patos, a few minutes walk from the house, is very welcoming and friendly with good places to eat. Breakfast served on the terrasse with fantastic coffee at a time we asked for the day before. Very convenient for people sleeping in late or early birds. Strong internet. Car safely parked in property. House cleaned everyday. Highly recommended.

Beautiful place with river. It is natural balneario. Private garden,beach and house. Like a paradise.English speaking and friendly owner. Very kindly staff.

We absolutely loved our time spent in Los Patos and already plan to return to stay with Joel and his great staff. The location is ideal (on the river-fronted beach and walking distance to town) and the property was perfect for a family with small children (although there are stairs in the house). The kids particularly enjoyed the ducks which visit the property every day to be fed. The town is tranquil and easy-going and by the time we left we started to feel like locals - despite barely speaking any Spanish! We highly recommend a visit to this gorgeous part of the DR.

I loved the location, the beautiful and well-cared for property,the friendly, unobtrusive, and obliging staff. Joel and his team take a lot of pride in what they do and it shows. A place worth coming back to again and again.

There was no hot water in the shower - not a big deal, given the weather conditions.

We like everything. We was in Domnincan rep. 30 days, and staying in this (family)hotel was really the best part. If you are going to the southwest, don't miss this place. Joel - the owner take the best care about all attributes of your staying there. What you need, you can get. The customer is for him mantra word. Clean, comfort, natural, and the house - like you will have home. We have maybe 50 photos only from habitation. I firstly consider, it's too much money for hotel, but from first moment I change my mind. It's probably the best value for money I ever get.

The location is brilliant, right on the beach and a fresh water river. The views from the bedroom are lovely. It's great to fall asleep to the sound of the waves crashing on the beach. I liked waking up in the morning and glancing out the window to see the sun rise over the Caribbean, then walking down to the beach to take photos in the early morning light. There are ducks, chickens and geckos on the grounds. The service was absolutely fantastic. A restaurant by the river provides breakfast - you can either go there or they'll bring it to you. A Dominican couple live in a small house on the grounds and provide a security service, keep the generator running, provide coffee in the morning, clean the house, offer to do your washing, provide an umbrella if it's raining, and generally help out in any way they can without getting in the way. On top of that, they're lovely people, as is everyone in the town. It is a really friendly and safe town.

Nos ha gustado mucho como nos trataron con la atencion muy eficaz de su dueño Joel. Nos dieron muy buenos consejos para descubrir "el Sur". El sitio es maravilloso, muy bien ubicado frente al mar caribe y al rio. Los desajunos fueron excelente acompañados de su café la mami que es especialidad de la casa. Les aconsejamos este sitio.

Nous avons passe quinze jours en republique dominicaine et c'est l'endroit que nous avons prefere d'abord l'endroit,magique,loin des zones touristique surpeuple,ici nous sommes au sud ouest de l'ile et nous sommes completement noyes dans la vie dominicaine,aucune structure hoteliere gigantesque rien ici n'est fait pour le touriste une reelle decouverte de la vie dominicaine le village situe a quelque centaine de metres du gite est symptomatique de la vie dominicaine nous y avons passe deux jours ,pris nos repas au petit resto en plein coeur du village avec bonheur car les gens sont extremement gentils et serviable et toujours avec les chansons dominicaine en toile de fond pour le logement il s'agit d'une petite maison a un etage decore d'une tres jolie facon elle est situee au milieu d'un jolie terrain ou cafeier,bananier et cocotier sont omnipresent superbe! De plus la vue est magique sur la mer des caraibes....... Enfin ce que nous avons apprecie le plus c'est Joel le proprietaire des lieux un andorran que s'est exile en rep dominicaine voila cinq ans une personne attentionnee et captivante,un vrai regal vraiment un personnage attachant et vraiment tres interressant nous avons vraiment regrette de partir apres deux jours

Trop court deux jours

El trato de Joel y los trabajadores es excelente, siempre atentos hicieron de nuestra estancia una experiencia única. También nos dieron consejos para movernos por la zona y sentirnos totalmente seguros. La habitación es muy completa, con dos niveles, nevera, sala con tv..etc. Se disfruta de forma privada de un jardín con porche, hamacas con vistas al mar..; la playa es de cantos, como todas las de la zona, y con oleaje, pero está el balneario natural en Los Patos El entorno es natural y es una muy buena opción si quieres explorar el sur

Nada, volveremos seguro, aunque con un repelente mas fuerte, ya que estar rodeado de naturaleza, hace que sea necesario

Sitio muy acogedor. Ideal para parejas. Muy lejos del mundanal ruido de la ciudad. Un autentico paraiso. Lo que mas nos gusto fue que el hotel dispone de una sola suite, y por tanto dispones de toda la casa, su finca e instaliciones para ti solo. Un lugar muy seguro para los turistas. Agradecer a su dueño Joel el exquisito trato recibido durante toda la instancia, ademas de valorar mucho la obra social que esta desarrollando en esa parte del pais.

Una struttura che ha saputo ricavare un grazioso spazio indipendente con vista sull oceano.a questo si aggiunge la sapiente intraprendenza del proprietario sempre pronto a darti supporto e consigli sul da farsi.

Tutti I piccoli difetti si perdonano a questo b&b, è un posto unico, affascinante, vero, lontano dai sfruttati luoghi turistici, ed è uno dei posti più vicini alla Baia delle Aquile, la spiaggia più bella della Repubblica Dominicana, si ricorderà.

Il mare è molto impegnativo, grosso, ma il bagno si può fare nel piccolo torrente che passa accanto alla casa.

Чудесное, необычное место. Река, море, горы. Хороший дом, территория. Уютно. Очень спокойно. Отличный сервис. Дружелюбный народ в соседней деревне. Удобное расположение для посещения окрестностей.

Wszystko, co widać na zdjęciach jest takie samo w rzeczywistości. Z doświadczenia wiem, że nie zawsze jest tak różowo. Bardzo sympatyczny właściciel, zero problemów z czymkolwiek. Smaczne śniadania, doskonała kawa z miejscowej plantacji. W pobliżu kilka miejsc ze świeżymi owocami morza.

Jedyne, co czego można się przyczepić to brak klimatyzacji. Warto byłoby założyć przynajmniej w sypialni.

Posto perfetto. Staff affabile e pronto ad aiutare in ogni occasione e molto socievoli. Il propietario e' una persona splendida,non invadente e di piacevole conversazione per chi lo necessita. Pulizia delle camere e servizio eccellente. La posizione la rendono un posto perfetto per il relax e il piacere di stare soli. Eccezzionale!
