This was close to almost everything we wanted to visit and do in santo domingo, staff was friendly and rooms were clean.
Never did get the wifi to work on my computer, phone, girlfiends phone or her i-pad. Bed was a little stiff, but over all it was great.
Apt. 6- living room, kitchen, bedroom and large balcony. The staff is very helpful. The Location is perfect, safe and in walking distance to many great places. Wifi worked great! no complaints about my guest or noise.
2 minor problems... Hot water and no air conditioning in the living room in Apt #6
location, layout, price, ammenities
ac didnt work
A clean hotel with excellent wifi connection. The room I had was nice and cleaned regularly by the lovely cleaning staff. From what I heard from other travelers the rooms differ in quality so it might be worth looking at the rooms before paying.
The hotel is on the border of the Zona Colonial and a little more out of the way for a female solo traveler. Often there are no staff around so if you need anything then it is not always easy to track someone down.
My daughter and I wanted to stay in the Colonial zone and to relax after a long bustrip. El Paseo Colonial was excellent for us. Nice beds, a clean room with nice beds, tv and wifi and the staff was very helpfull.
Friendly staff, quiet location close to restaurants in the colonial zone. Got a nice and big breakfast! Would like to go there again and will recommend it to others.
No warm shower.
Everything, no water in the shower in the toilet in general I asked for repair they said yes but it didn't happen so I left after 2 nights
I will come back. The rooms are comfortable and the service was excellent. Noise was not bothersome sleep with doors open, there was no need for a.c..
AC was not working. Bathroom small.
The only good thing was the location!!
We didn't feel very welcome. The personal was difficult to find and very difficult to communicate with even one of us speek spanish. Definitely a hotel I would NOT visit again.
Excellent location very near Plaza Espana (and its excellent - but expensive - restaurants open for lunch and dinner) and also very near Ruinas San Francisco where there is live music every Sunday. It has a residence - aparta-hotel feel and is one of the best value deals in the Zona Colonial. Rooms have small fridge and they provide drinking water in the fridge. Strong ceiling fans and good AC. Great colmado on the corner next to hotel (on Isabel Catolica) for cold beer (90 pesos) and snacks.
The standard rooms around about 1,500 pesos (all taxes included) for 2 people (about US $35) which is good for a night or two. But you can find cheaper if you go into Gazcue a bit. Most of the bathrooms are quite small and sometimes low water pressure. They do not accept credit cards. Sometimes it's hard to find staff or anyone there to help (though they are all very friendly).
the location and friendliness of the people, also the authenticity
the only negative was that the water supply was very poor
The location amidst of the colonial town of Santo Domingo.
Rather complicated to find the hotel with a car. The apartment is quite dark (advantage: relatively cool without air conditioning "on"). Poor Breakfast.
- good location - cheap , good quality/price ratio
- nobody when we arrived, had to find someone at the stores around to get in - sink blocked - low water pressure
All that I needed was available in the room. I was very happy to have had an air-conditioner and a personal refridgerator. The woman who checked me in allowed me to put my things in the room 3 hours earlier.
This isn't a big deal but there's no receptionist area. When I checked-out I wasn't sure what to do with my room key because I couldn't find anyone who worked there. So, I left it locked in the room.
Great location just off Isabel la Catolica in the Zona Colonial and 5-minute walk to Plaza Espana and its great restaurants. Variety of rooms but all have great ceiling fan, small fridge, and A/C - but have a look around as each one is different. Comfortable rooms and maybe the best value in the Zona Colonial. I stayed in Feb-March 2014 and nightly rate was about USD$ 35 per night total for 2 people. A great colmado (corner store) is on the corner next to hotel for water, beer, etc and it's 3-min walk to Ruinas de San Francisco for the free weekly Sunday live music concerts. Wi-Fi has improved a lot since 2013 and it's almost always strong and relatively fast.
One of the few hotels left in the DR that does not accept credit cards - you can pay in pesos, USD, or Euro cash only. Also, price on booking does not include 28% taxes, so that really adds up. No 'reception' and at night or weekends may be hard to find people - but this also is a plus since adds to privacy. Bathrooms and showers are very small and I never had hot water in the 10+ days I stayed. Free coffee and tea would be a nice thing to offer.
the wifi, staffs, bed
no hot water
The location was good. Only 5 blocks from the pedestrian mall in the Colonial area
The bathroom was extremely small. Unable to sit comfortably on the toilet and barely enough room to stand in the shower.
Excellent safe location a minute's walk from the Columbus house. Friendly and helpful staff, family-run. Pleasant balcony that all guests can use in the evening.
Furniture was basic, bed wasn't great - but acceptable, considering the price.
Was fine for just one night to check out the town. Not ideal for a couple for a long while as the room was pretty tiny. Fine for crashing for one night though.
No hot water. Water smelled strange when first turned on. Very loud in the morning! (not the hotel's fault)
Central to the bank and transportation was easily accessible. Management made me feel very welcome. Good for a stop over as it was in my case.
Have no complaints.
the staff was really helpful and friendly
Breakfast was served in the room, so you had to sit on the couch and eat from a small table. + the sandwich was not really good --> i wouldn't order breakfast there again.
This place is great value for money! We paid 30usd for a very comfortable room with 2 rooms, a/c & refrigirator. The bathroom was really small, however it wasn't problem for us as we stayed only 2 nights. The a/c worked perfectly so it was a great relief after sightseeing in the heat. Location is perfect - only 2 minutes walk from Plaza Espania! There are 2 hotels named Paseo Colonial in Zona Colonial, SO make sure you arrive to the right one :)
Good value for money. Clean. Very helpful staff.
A bit noise from the street, but nothing to worry about.
The apt was nice, cable tv in different languages, bed comfortable, helpful staffs
