Very nice hostes Sabrina. She makes staying in Villa Caleta very special. Nice person and always interesed in thinks you have to tell.
Off road location.
Good location, close to some of the best beaches in the area. Owner and staff are very nice and helpful. Strongly recommend that you let Francesco cook breakfast and dinner. Amazing chef who cooks wonderful food. Wendy also made our stay extra nice. Talented and service minded. We had a very good stay here and can recommend it highly if you want a quiet place away from the most touristic hotels
Amazing villa. We've lived in the separate house with it's own territory. Comfortable bed, enought space for dinner (in a house and out of it) and having a rest. A kitchen is full of all needed for cooking. There was my wish - a hammock. Local beach is close to villa, but we've explored other, so we used local beach only ones. It's possible to rent Dario's ATV and have some fun! Some other guests wrote about problems with hot water but it was ok. There are some problems with usual europen food in this part of Dominicana (especially with meat), so it's better to eat in local cafe. Francesco is best of the best cheife! Ask Dario if you want any entertiment, becouse he can garantee safty and good price. We have many problems with our rental car and Dario always helped as. So, Dario is cool man. You are not a guest there, you are a very close friend.
Cannot finde any cons
Lovely place with really, really good service. I was first picked up at the airport in Santa Domingo and when I after a week was leaving to another place (out in the jungle, a good distance away from Las Galeras) then I was driven there and followed al the way even by foot, even though they meant a long walk in inaccessible terrain. The food was good, priceworthy and for one who is normally very careful with diet abroad, it was no problem at all. I can really recommend the place.
I had to leave
Friendly owner, quickly replying and very helpful assistant Sabrina, which we wanted to meet personally, but unfortunately she was not there. Big and spacious bungalow with two floors and nice view from balcony. Many options for visiting different beaches.
Well, our biggest dissappointment was that from the photos we expected to have a beach just right near to door but in fact all bungalows are situated in about 200 meters from the beach. It was really sad, because it was the main reason why we have chosen it. When you insert address in GPS use coordinates only which booking.com provides, otherwise it is quite hard to find, especially when sun is gone. If you do not have a jeep or SUV, drive very carefully, it is real OFF road. If you need 100% silence for good sleep, this place is not for you, we had frogs and birds loud orchestra all night long. If you need to tank and do not want to buy gasoline in bottles, better tank in Samana, there are no gasoline stations in Las Galeras. Have fun!
We originally booked 2 nights but ended up staying for 6. The location was perfect. The area is beautiful and unspoiled. It’s a nice walk along the beach to get to Villa La Caleta from the center of Las Galeras (if you arrive by public transport). It’s also really close to one of the best beaches in Las Galeras, just a 2 minute walk. We especially liked the tranquil atmosphere that surrounds the place. Upon arrival Dario was very friendly and welcoming. The rooms were very nice, clean and comfortable. During our stay the restaurant was closed but Dario and Francesco were kind enough to invite us for dinner several times. The food we had was the best food we had in the Dominican Republic. I’ve rarely heard a man talk so passionately about food like Francesco. We even got some of his home grown chilli peppers. They were perfect hosts. They didn’t treat us like hotel guests but as friends. On a Saturday we had a taste of the Dominican nightlife when Dario took us to a typical hot spot for the local youth, where loud merengue music plays and dance loving Dominicans gather. It wasn’t the sort of place you would go to on your own as a tourist, so we were very happy Dario and his friends took us along. On the last day we went to Playa Del Valle with Dario and Francesco, their favourite beach in Samana. The beach and area is gorgeous and untouched. Probably one of the nicest beaches we’ve seen in the country. It’s different from the typical Dominican touristy beaches. Dario, Francesco and Sabrina can give lots of information about the area and possible activities that fit your interests. We had a very pleasant stay in Villa La Caleta and would recommend this place to anyone who’s planning to visit Samana.
We were welcomed by Dario the owner, who is very helpful! The villa is very nice, the location is beautiful and there is good beach, just within walking dinstance.
We had a fantastic time at Villa La Caleta. The location is unique, right in front of a beautiful, quiet beach, immerse in the palm grove. Caribbean at the very best. The rooms are comfortable, super clean and beautiful. Not to mention Dario, the manager, who gave us all sorts of advice and recommendations to make the most of our time in the area. Highly recommended!
The very last few hundred meters that lead to the location are viable by car but you should be careful while driving. Slow down and it will be okay.
It was very romantic scenery..the beach was near and beautiful clear waters. Friendly people.
Sabrina emailed me right after I booked and gave me specific directions on how to get to their doorstep. Dario was a great host from the time we got there till we left! This place is beautiful. It's about a 15 minute walk (which you can do along the beach) to Las Galleras. It's scenic, removed from the small town with amazing views of palm trees, green grass, horses and of course the ocean. The staff are really nice and helpful when you're planning what next beautiful beach to visit. My friend and I stayed 3 nights and had a great time.
Simply the best... better than all the rest
We had a fantastic time and can't speak highly enough of the Villa and Dario, who was the staff there while we visited during the low season. He went above and beyond to ensure that we had a great trip, and we did! We loved being able to walk to the beach and the area is beautiful. Thank you!
Our reception was lovely, the owner was extremely communicative from the moment we made the reservation, the food at the restaurant was wonderful. Everything about our time at Villa La Caleta and in Las Galeras was like a dream. Wholeheartedly recommended.
We became an instant family and have never felt so safe in a cottage. Sabrina, Dario and Francesco were endearing and we will remain friends into the future. Cottage was cleaned daily and we enjoyed comfortable sleeps each night awakening to breezy sunny mornings. Location is very close to the shoreline with a sweeping, sandy beach just 5 minutes walking distance. Wonderful restaurant on premises offering breakfast, dinner and cocktails ... We couldn't have been more pleased. They also arranged on shore and off shore excursions as well as atv and motor bike rentals at extremely reasonable rates! Love them, love them!
The friendly and welcoming hosts - esp thanks to Sabrina! The location - far enough from town to be a beautiful unspoiled natural environment yet near enough to walk to town when required. The view from my terrace. The sitting talking at night time in the small restaurant. The juicer/blender in my apartment kitchen.
That I had to leave (eventually) When no wind at night, mosquitos were annoying
Super close to the beach. Surrounded by Palm trees. Hosts are as good as it gets!!
Hard to find off the village road, needs some signs.
Sabrina, Dario and Francesco are super nice and helpful! The place is so calm and peaceful that it was very easy to get into the holiday mode. We had some trouble while going around the area, but every time Sabi and the lads were ready to help without even asking. The location is perfect if you want a get-away holiday without the huss and fuss of the big resorts. Beautiful scenery yet still only a short walk to the village. Also great hiking route's and deserted beaches nearby, though you should have some sort of map and gps to make sure that you're on the right path. A big plus for Francesco's breakfast, it was yummy every time!:)
Very kind, friendly and helpfull staff, especially Sabrina, very good place for resting and discovering surroudings off Las Galeras, goog for idividual tourism.
From the moment we arrived, Sabrina, Daurio and Franchesco were incredible hosts. They made us feel so welcome and comfortable after a long journey. The villa was spectacular with everything we could possibly need for our stay. The views of the sea, the wild horses and the coconut trees all around were amazing. It was so quiet and peaceful and beautiful. The food and drinks at the Cafe were delicious and the attention we received was superior. By the end of our stay it felt like we were leaving our friends. There are not enough good things to say about Villas Las Galetas. A perfect place to stay. Highly recommended!! Can't wait to return. Thank you, Sabrina, Daurio and Franchesco for an incredible time!
Sabrina was super nice and helpful as we had quite a few mishaps. A cute little restaurant on the property where Francesco makes Italian food with a DR spin is lovely and very convenient. The walk to the nearby beach is about 5 minutes, but the view from the balcony of the guest house is fabulous.
The street to the guest house is not just unpaved, but a journey through one hole after another. It makes it a bit of a hassle to drive for a quick run into town. Ask Sabrina for directions to the house, else it's a bit hard to find.
Very friendly and helpful owners and very clean accommodation, good attention to detail and good value. Fluent Italian, English, Spanish spoken. Las Galleras center is not too far (20-25 mins walk or a few mins if you have transport) and very safe even at night, just a walk along the beach and along a path through palm trees (take a flashlight and be careful of an occasional frog sitting in the pathway at night!). I recommend this accommodation.
Location - quiet, sea views, 10 min stroll from beautiful beach. Have marked it only "good" because unless you have car, it is 25-min walk(along beach) to restaurants/shops of village, or the same in other direction to stunning, clifftop El Cabito restaurant(overpriced). But the property's new thatched, open air restaurant does excellent breakfasts and simple pasta dinners, all good value.
No WiFi. Only cash accepted, and ATM in village only dispenses maximum of RD$4,000(US$95) per day, so be aware of this if staying long time(though you can draw more out over bank counter, but bank closed weekends)
These accommodations are exceptional primarily because of the owners and staff. They treat the guests like part of their extended family. The location is beautiful, but a distance from town. The Villa provides excellent meals for breakfast and dinner, so it is easy to relax and enjoy the location. The owners insured that the reached out to this guest before she even arrived to insure that the trip to the Villa was trouble free.
There really was not anything to dislike at this Villa. I can't say enough about the service and warm and caring atmosphere created by Dario and Sabrina.
Sabrina and the rest of the staff were amazingly helpful and nice. The proximity to the beach, El Cabito, and its remoteness are things that I really liked. I also liked that they had breakfast in the morning, and at night they would have dinner if you told them ahead of time, and a place to grab a couple of drinks if you'd like. The terrace from the Coconut Cottage was fantastic, and you can see the ocean through the palms there.
Although I liked that it was quiet and "off the beaten track" it is quite a ways away from the main village... the walk is fine during the day (about 15 minutes), but I did not want to go at night. They did offer to call a motor taxi if I wanted though. Also they had a small problem with some loud goats while I was there. They were in the process of fixing it though (they were very adamant about pleasing their guests and giving them a quiet space), and it did get better the 2nd and 3rd night. If you are looking to stay connected, WIFI is not that strong at the Coconut Cottage furthest from the main house.
Everyone there was delightful and super helpful. The location is perfect, quiet, out of the way, and right by the ocean. The bungalow was beautiful and comfortable. They have a little bistro/bar right there on the property and offer wonderful food and drink.
The only two things that I could possibly comment in the negative on were: 1) The hot water in the shower only lasts for about 30 seconds (not as big of a deal as you would imagine since it is in the tropics). 2) They have a rather large dog and some goats that sometimes make noise in the middle of the night. I'm a light sleeper so this was occasionally an issue, my fiance did not notice at all.
