Casa del Lago Lodging House

We have traveled for business and/or pleasure to more than 40 countries around the world, including 12 Caraibean and South American countries and stayed in hundreds of hotels (50 to 130$/night hotels when travelling for leisure). This is the first time when we were disappointed from a to z by a hotel. Characteristics of this hotel: - at our arrival the owner spent at least 30 minutes telling us what to do and what not to do in the hotel; after the first speech she came with us in our first room and continued her speech for next 10-15 minutes… and after two consecutive flights we were tired and in need of a shower. - the hotel is located at one of the most noisy corner of the town; all trucks are directed toward this narrow street; - from outside the hotel seems attractive, however, the hotel is old and needs important renovations and an architectural redesign; the hotel pretends to be ecological because it was built from different trash like empty bottles but no architectural rules were respected; - for us it was not a big deal, but we have to mention that we had two or three small reptiles in each of two rooms we stayed (it seems the small lizards like the shower corners); they can come in and out easily through free spaces between walls and windows or doors of this hotel; - the announced apartments simply do not exist; we stayed in two different rooms one at the second and another one at the first floor (seems it is the largest one they have) and both were small, dark and dirty; - the beds are small, matrasses and the bed sheets have seen a much better time; - the breakfast for additional 7 $US was a real joke (no chees, no ham, no bacon); - the announced kitchen in the rooms was in fact a corner fulfilled with non-useful gadgets (perhaps most of them not used for many years).

Confidential comments to the booking.com on Casa del Lago Lodging House: During last years we booked several hotels in different countries through booking.com and we always appreciated the information available on your site when making decisions about hotels. This is the first time when we think users should be protected from falls information. As a public health professional it is my responsibility to inform you that this hotel presents at least one important health issue. Namely, the rooms at the second floor are covered by an old asbestos roof with no other isolation than a net. We mentioned this to the owner and she told us it will be too expensive to change the asbestos roof for another one, but agreed to give us a room at the first floor. An asbestos roof for a few days of stay is not a reason for panic for guests who have stayed there, but is prohibited (see demolished by specialised teams when detected) in an industrialized country. Another issue is the electricity system of this hotel. It does not correspond to any safety requirement and needs urgent improvements. Pictures might be made available to show facts mentioned above. The "duena" is really nice and the hotel is well located. The breakfast is also good

The moskitonets in the room and the bathroom have holes and therefore there are a lot of them everywhere. Furthermore everything is very humid and therefore has aquired a certain smell over the years. Rather expensive for what you get.

beaucoup trop cher, wifi pas en état de marche, bruyant, chambre pleine d'insectes, changement de prix a la dernière minute, pas de responsable présent, personne sur place le dimanche, bref au moins 4 fois trop cher, très déçu

Cet hôtel a la forme d'une maison polymorphe, avec des chambres/appartements séparés les uns des autres, ce qui donne l'impression d'être les seuls clients. L'architecture et les aménagements intérieurs sont très originaux. Les couleurs et les motifs sont harmonieux. La possibilité d'utiliser une petite terrasse privative est très agréable. Les petits déjeuners sont copieux et les produits de très bonne qualité. En outre, la personne responsable est charmante et très serviable.

It was over priced, cramp, and stuffy, smelling and with bugs. Needs air conditioning. Staff doesn't have much information, not even maps of island. All they could tell you was email the owner if you have questions, who was on vacation. We were the only ones there, the staff charged us upon arrival and wasn't around much. It was our last week in Ecuador and the worst!!!! Find a different place, there are many on the islands which are not listed on-line. Although we paid up front, we decided to walk out by the 2nd night we couldn't take it anymore. The bug bites, bbo( bad body odor from the mattress,) which was enhanced by lack of fresh cool air was horrible!!!! We stayed our last 4 nights somewhere else. Would not recommend this even to my worst enemy. STay AwAY --find somewhere else, you have much better options. Stay here only if you want to share a smelly mini sauna with bugs. If you still decide to book, do so only for one night and see for yourself, this way you aren't forced to pay for extra nights once you can't take it.- YOu'Ve BeEn WARned!!!!

Het Lodging House ligt aan een drukke straat, veel taxi verkeer en daardoor vroeg wakker.

The owner tries very hard to please. Best ciapurini? Drink ever. Very imagiantive decor

Not having a full length mirror or a closet to put my clothes No A/C. Having to pay cash, no credit cards is a pain. Having to stand out side to check my e mails.

The good athmosphere, the "familly run" feeling.

Miss a swimming pool !
