This was a beautiful location with comfortable bungalows and a beautiful pool (sadly, we were not able to use it because it rained). It is about a 20 - 30 minute walk up the hill from the town. If you don't want to walk, the staff can easily arrange for a taxi for you. They were also great at setting up a birdwatching tour for us. I would highly recommend this location.
The staff were amazingly helpful. They were willing to help whenever necessary. I mean, whenever you needed help, for whatever cause, they extended a hand.
Slow wifi and tiny bugs in the room. Both are fairly common throughout the Galápagos, from my understanding, but it still was inconvenient. So don't not just stay here because of that!
aircon blowing over bed , but some might like that
Great wifi, large room, beach towel provided
No toiletries. There was no coffee maker in double room
Location, the owner was very kind and friendly.
Wi-fi with poor signal. Small tv considering the size of the room and the distance to bed without english audio.
Very helpful staff, always looking out for our needs, and great advice for orienting us to the town and local services. Good location, only 2 short blocks to the Central Market, and an easy walk to the food kiosk street and the main restaurants on Darwin Avenue. Easy walk to Laguna de las Ninfas, too. Far enough from Darwin Avenue to feel like you are in a real neighborhood, rather than a touristy hotel. The room was spacious. The air conditioner worked well. We appreciated the refrigerator and kitchenette.
WiFi sometimes slow. Occasional noise from kids playing basketball and soccer at the court next door, but usually quiet after 9pm. It takes a little skill to adjust the shower to get hot water.
Spacious room with character.
Small bathroom, flaking paint, flimsy room door. Overpriced.
Sometimes hot water was missing. Rarely though.
The room was comfortable, clean, and the inn in central location. Friendly staff!
Our luggage arrived a couple of days delayed. El Bambu was great, coordinated with the airline representative, and put the luggage in our room while we were away. They were also very accommodating during an internet interruption and got service restored promptly.
vat and service charge not included in price (22% increase).
Great location, half way to the pier and Tortuga's Bay, near minimarkets and bakery. The owners are very helpful and friendly, always ready to help us. The room is amazing, a lot of space, AC, Cable Tv, Purified Water, and you have a mini fridge inside.
The wi-fi was not that good.
Cleanliness, facilities and the friendly reception of the staff. Lots of air, natural light and gardens, in an very agreeable environment (except for the lack of the ocean view).
A little bit far from the Av. Charles Darwin, where things happen in the island and where are the best restaurants. No breakfast.
The room was nice and location wasn't too bad.
Stay alert when going through the payment. According to Booking.com the room would cost $50 per night. However as I was not present when the payment took place Sebastian the owner "kindly" charged my mum an extra $10 for each night, making service and tax higher as well. Do not book any boat trips or activities through him either as it will also cost you more.
The owners are very nice people, available to help if you need. ( and they lent me a bike ! ) I definetely recomend El Bambu Galapagos.
Friendly staff, gave us a welcome coca cola, a great booklet on what to do in the islands, and helped us plan our days in Santa Cruz. Bright clean rooms. 5 min walk to waterfront. Would recommend.
El Bambu was in an awesome location. It's really close to the start of the path to Tartuga Bay. It's a short walk to El Malecon and the main street of Darwin as well as the kiosks/food street and a little market with good empanadas. The hosts were really helpful in helping us plan our short stay and in setting things up for us like day trips around Santa Cruz, and even letting us use their bikes. The room was really nice, clean and has air conditioning. I'd stay there again.
Nice and clean place. Spacious rooms.
The hotel is right on a park which is lovely and a nice setting. However, on Friday and Saturday nights a group of young people spent all night long talking, drinking and yelling in that park so that we didn't get any sleep at all. We would have appreciated if the owners who live on-site could have been pro-active in quieting the group so that we could sleep.
It is like a mini apartment, and the owner are great, very helpful and the gave us bicycle X rent.
The bed was a bit small for two people, it looked more as a full then a queen
The owners, the room, having a refrigerator, the a/c, hot showers (mostly). The Galapagos - there are tours and interesting places within walking distance on Santa Cruz and a few day trips to other islands. The $1 taxi fare to anywhere in the town.
No meals available (though it is a short walk to get something). The fact that I had to direct so many taxi drivers to the place. Failure of pickups by various tour operators.
Tidy and quiet rooms. Helpful owners. We extended due to illness and we were accomodated at once.
A bit of a walk to the center, but I will trade it for the quietness of the surrounding. No breakfast, but then we can grab cheap breakfast 5 mins. Walk from the place.
Ok it was not as expensive as some of the other places I looked at online but there is a trade off
The room was cheesy, there was no closet or even a drawer to put clothes in. The door was so thin you could hear all the noises going on around you. My daughter and I decided to find another place to stay while we were in Puerto Ayora. I would not recommend this place.
Friendly and helpful staff
Room was too expensive for what it was, needs curtains and there was a hole in our window for the air conditioning pipe- allowing mosquitoes to come inside the room. Lastly you could hear noise from the air conditioning engine box from outside all night.
