The transfer from the airport to the hotel was very efficient and good fun. They know exactly how to organise it and that was appreciated. Everything was excellent including the pool, staff, food and maps and guides to the surrounding area. It was a one night treat for us at the end of our cruise and much appreciated.

    Wi-fi area needs air conditioning!

Tropical tranquility - the hotel is located off the noises of Puerto Ayoras, this is an advantage on one side and a disadvantage on the other, it is English spoken there, the most crispy bacon on the breakfast menu in Ecuador, swimming pool and several yachts for tours.

The tropical tranquility means, that there is no transportation beside approx 500 m (1/4 mile) long ride by a water taxi ($1.20 per person) and a 500 m (1/4 mile) long walk along a partially unpaved road from the water taxi to the hotel. No other way to go. Rooms of approx. 4 x 3 m (12 x 9 feet) + shower and WC with relatively good airconditioning. No TV, no minibar, no refrigerator at rooms although there is a cabinet, where would a fridge fit). Internet access via WiFi at extremely low speed often completely interrupted. Noises and talks are disturbingly heard from neighboring rooms. There is no hotel beach. The beach is shared with locals who even use your towel, when left unattended. The beach due to some muddy parts in shallow water can be used only during high tide. Although the Tortuga bay is only 2.4 km line of sight, there is no shorter way, that to walk that 500 m to the pier, than by boat to Porto Ayoras and again to walk additional 3 km, which means walking distance 3.5 km in very hight temperatures in the range 30°C. Swimming is not recommended in Tortuga bay due to strong currents. Well suited for swimming is the Tortuga lagoon, roundtrip from the hotel to there is 8.1 km ~ 5 miles only walking distance. General feeling: like a hotel from the thirties.

Staff friendly and helpful, wonderful view from our ocean view room, food good in the restaurant

It was all good. Struggled to get a good cup of tea - but that is an English thing and we couldn't get a good cup of tea anywhere in a south America!

room was clean quiet location the small stuff like good shampoo, nice towels, pool

value for the money (cost seemed high for the size of the room and drinks were the most expensive I saw anywhere on the island) staff didn't seem that interested in giving advice about the area

The Finch Bay is probably the only hotel in Santa Cruz located on a beach. The location is also nice as you need to take a boat ride to get to the port and town. It makes the trip nicer as the Puerto Ayora is on a beautiful location and you also may get to see sea lions, sea iguanas and even small sharks on your way. Getting back to the Finch Bay hotel, the Ocean view rooms are big and have a nice varanda, but the walls are thin and you hear the voices on the next room. The breakfast is good and varied, but we would rather serve the juices and coffee ourselves as we need to call the waiter to be served... The nicest thing about the Finch Bay is that the pool is frequented by the ducks. They chose it as their place to stay and even sleep.

The dinner price is extremely expensive at US$40,00 per person as you can eat Lobster for US$22,00 in the best restaurants in town. The garden view room is very small, our cruise cabin was much bigger! The worst thing is the price of the day tours at the hotel. They offered us a Batholome island tour for US$360,00 per person and we bought it for US$160,00!! The North Seymor Island and the Plazas islands day tour at the Finch were US$250,00 and we paid US$145,00 per person. It is a huge difference!! Avoid doing any trip with them.
