Due to current political issues in Ecuador, we were a little apprehensive about making the trip. However, only minutes after we landed in Quito we fell in love. The airport is amazingly clean and has all the amenities you would want. Quito, the La Carolina area, was extremely clean and very secure. The shopping was fantastic and there were tons of restaurants to choose from. All that said, we were most surprised by how reasonably priced everything was. Also, a lot of bars do not take credit cards. Ecuador uses the American dollar, so have some on hand so you don't have an awkward experience. We would definitely make the trip again.

We were just there one night to experience the city having spent a few nights in the mountains near Pifo. Loved the crazy city - beautiful architecture. Lots of security/police presence which made it feel safe. My partner was unwell so I explored the city solo - I was approached by a policeman who gave me a map and ensured I was safe/aware of where to walk etc. It is easy to travel by foot. I would have liked longer but feel 2-3 nights would have been plenty.

We stayed 2 nights in Quito.

We stayed 2 nights in Quito. We had one full day in Quito, which was not enough. We happened to be there during Carnivale. We took a cab to the Basilica and then walked to Independance square to observe the celebration. Later we had a great meal in the nearby hall.

I was robbed on the third day I was in Quito.

I was robbed on the third day I was in Quito. A pickpocket stole my wallet and I lost USD 200. The police didn't seem to care and most couldn't speak English. Every single day I was harassed by beggars, some of whom were very aggressive. I didn't feel safe in Quito and became paranoid. I couldn't wait to leave. I would NEVER return to Ecuador and probably not any other country in South America. There is a nationwide state of emergency now, and it's very dangerous. I advise my fellow Americans to avoid Ecuador like the plague unless you go straight to the Galapagos Islands. Ecuador is by far the worst country I've ever been to and I've traveled all over the world.

It's an old city, with lots of history and historical buildings. Many museums, often free. The surrounding mountains are beautiful and the climate is excellent. Most of the people I met were friendly and willing to help a confused stranger. There are some beggars, and some unsavory areas, as with any sizable city. I highly recommend visiting Wikiri Sapoparque if you're an animal lover. It's a great and unique experience.

The hotel was very clean, the rooms spotless and well appointed catering for what any leisure or business person would need. The food choice for breakfast was very varied and good quality as was the drinks choice. The buffet style aloud you to pick and choose your style and quality. The rooms where quite except when Quito day was being celebrated in the park opposite which is only once a year. Staff were extremely pleasant and helpful from the doorman to the waiting staff and reception. Would book here again should I be in Quito

The cleanliness of the hotel. Amazing breakfast to start the day. The kitchen is large and perfectly equipped. The airport pick-up service was great. The staff is also great, answered all our questions and gave us many tips. Location perfect, walking distance to the historic center, bus station in front of the hotel. Huge plus - the hair dryer in the bathroom It is a wonderful hostel to meet people and with lots of information about the area. The place is located within walking distance of the historic center and neighborhoods of La Mariscal and La Floresta. I hadn't slept so well in a bed in a long time! Regarding activities, Fehr can also help you organize day trips around Quito or longer ones to the Amazon and such. PS : great hot water to help relieve sore muscles at the end of the day.

The Hotel is in a great location and is very secure. We had a lovely room, which was exceptionally clean and tidy. Great communication with Maria and staff, even giving us an early check in as we had travelled overnight and arrived in Quito at 10.00am. and the room was ready. Maria was so kind and helped me retrieve my phone after leaving it in a taxi. To top it all off we had a fantastic breakfast plus excellent WiFi. We can't recommend this hotel highly enough. This is a lovely very friendly small hotel full of charm. One of the best nights sleep I’ve had in Ecuador thanks to a very comfy bed, nice cotton linen that actually fits the bed properly (hard to find in Ecuador or seems), duvets rather than blankets, and a pretty quiet night. Good eating nearby ( including 4 or so vegan places within a few blocks) and good craft beer at Sinners cafe just a block away. Good breakfast included with eggs etc though bit limited for vegan (bread jam fruit coffee tea).

Really great staff. Yale is a star!! We traveled through Peru and Ecuador and this hotel was the most welcoming with the best customer service. Yale arranged a Middle of World Monument tour, map with directions to orient ourselves and a really great lunch recommendation! Our drivers from airport and the tour were personable as well. Also, excellent location easily within walking distance of all the major sites in the historical district. As the name suggests this is a friendly chill hotel.

I've stayed at Posada del Maple three times during my travels in Ecuador. It's an absolutely lovely hotel, close to everything, in a very safe and quiet location. The rooms are spotlessly clean, with hot water, beautiful artsy interiors, and comfortable beds. Free drinking water. Good breakfast. Occasionally, you can catch sight of hummingbirds from the terrace of your room. The staff is incredibly helpful and always ready to assist.
