Score from 91 reviews Very good
Very friendly and helpful staff. Room was in the garden and nice and quiet. Good hot showers although the temperature control needs delicate balancing of the hot and cold taps.
Plumbing a bit dodgy so toilet paper cannot be flushed away.
The Hostel was definitely in a good location. We did a lot of walking, and also used public transport. The staff was very helpful with any questions we had regarding directions and getting the power back in our room after it had failed twice.
There was a little confusion over the price and the room we had booked through booking.com. We stuck to our guns and eventually it got sorted and we got the number of nights and the price we had been quoted. Our room was advertised as having cable TV, which it did not.
Really nice and relaxing place, great garden, very sweet lobby, friendly staff and located very central. Good breakfast, hot shower, nice beds. Tip: take the calm suite, it costs the same like double room.
The cozy atrium was comfortable and they have interesting artwork...
The place was a bit "tired." I realize it's hard to balance "old hacienda charm" with looking "warn" - They decorated and painted the rooms nicely however replacing the warn trim, woodwork and fixtures might make the place look nicer.
Nice staff , nice hôtel
De locatie is goed, ontbijt is prima.
The atmosphere is delightful. The maids, the gardener, the front desk personnel seemed to really enjoy their work and the clients. I was always met with a smile and a greeting, early, late or anytime. My room was spotless, even my dishes were done for me and my bed was changed every other day. The grounds (courtyard) are beautiful and very peaceful. My favorite place was to sit in the courtyard and relax after a day of "being a tourist". The entire hostel just has a restful ambiance. AND, there are space heaters in every room.
I had asked for a room on the first floor because my knees don't work as well as they used to. I was given a second floor room. No rooms with kitchenettes were available on the first floor when I checked in. I just climbed the stairs very slowly and then had a beautiful view of the courtyard from my entire wall of windows. The WIFI is very spotty. Some nights I could not sign on until after 10 and a couple of other nights, I could not sign on at all.
Wonderful staff including diligent cleaning ladies. Good bargain.
No hot water in the bathroom sink.
Tranquil, lovely old building. Use of well stocked, clean kitchen, free drinking water, staff helpful in suggesting activities, beautiful garden, good coffee and breakfast. Quiet.
Young people might find it boring. Middle aged guests, mostly.
Location, the garden, the nice staff.
Bit of noise in rooms close to reception, very limited choice of breakfast. Wi-Fi was not strong enough.
Best hostel experience in Ecuador!
Member of staff very friendly
I would have preferred a room with natural light
The staff made it an enjoyable stay. The quite atmosphere even on a busy street it was very quiet!
The only thing we didn't like was the smoke smell from the previous person who stayed in our room.
rooms were a bit cold. One bed felt damp, and did not seem to warm up. I would recommend offering hot water bottles to guests, they could fill them themselves in the kitchen. The hot water bottles would require some kind of cover, to avoid being too hot.
WE enjoyed the quietness of the garden, where we had breakfast in.
Good location, friendly and accommodating staff, lovely courtyard and spacious common kitchen … a great place to meet fellow travellers. If you're willing to spend a little more and can get Room #7 (suite with kitchenette) it has an entire wall of windows that let in light and warmth.
The staff is very helpful and gives guests great information about the local restaurants, activities, etc. We loved how quiet it was. We stayed in room #2 on the courtyard. The courtyard is filled with flowers and is a wonderful place for breakfast and planning your day. We stayed at a much more expensive hotel last year, and prefer this hostel much more!
All the staff are Fantastic!!! I liked having a kitchen available even in the evening. The courtyards are beautiful. Very quiet and peaceful and breakfast was great.
All the rooms should have heaters. They can get a little cool at night this time of year. Some of the room advertised as having tv and did not. The tv we had in one room only had local channels, no cable or option for other language viewing.
