The facilities were great: the bedrooms, the bathrooms, everything. And also clean.

Staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Jimmy even gave me his spare charger after mine was stolen on the way to Baños and tge replacement I bought didn't work very well. Location was nice and quiet but close enough to town. The beer was plentiful and cheap!

The hostel itself was clean and comfortable. Breakfast and wifi were provided. There was a nice outdoor seating area where we were able to enjoy drinks after hours.

The staff, in particular the owners, were downright rude. As soon as they found out we weren't booking excursions through them they not only put down our excursion agency (which turned out to be fabulous and incredibly professional), but also had attitude with us the rest of the weekend. At one point one of our group members was POSSIBLY going to have to leave and asked if she would be able to get her money back. When she found out she was able to stay, she informed the owner and the owner said her bed and all others had been rented out. After a round about conversation, the owner said she was teaching her a lesson, don't say you might leave, but in reality no beds were rented out. Very unprofessional!

It was clean, quiet and nicely decorated. The bed was comfortable and there were a ton of movies to watch in the common room for rainy days. It was away from the noisy bar area of the town and close to the trailhead for several trails. Also they say that they use wind energy for their electricity.

The wifi wasn't great upstairs... It was only really fair downstairs too... The breakfast is inconsistent.. One day we had this nice spread with eggs, fresh fruit and bread... The next it was just toast... A girl asked for some fruit or something to supplement the carbfest but they said " not today, it's different everyday" ... Different but definitely not equivalent :( The worst thing was that they have advertised these package deals where if you book an activity through them, they advertise a discount on your stay and a free massage. Well when it came time to pay, they insisted that this didn't apply to customers who reserved their room through booking.com ... It doesn't say this anywhere on the sign... They also made up several other reasons why they couldn't give me the discount ... None of which were indicated anywhere... After 15 min of haggling I was able to get them to at least lower the price reasonable. They weren't even at all apologetic that they had been misleading, in fact they kept telling me that the discount I negotiated was coming out of one of the staff member's pockets.. Trying to guilt me??? Any ways it's fine enough just avoid their "deals" and make sure everything is in writing... And don't expect a good breakfast everyday : /

We enjoyed the friendly staff and very clean, welcoming atmosphere of the hostel. Not many people shared the bathrooms, making it well worth the money.

The hostel is an easy cab ride but a decent walk away from the center of Banos, considering the size of the city. Breakfast was appreciated but did not fill us up.

Really clean, great breakfast, nice hot showers.

a little further from the center by about 5 minutes than other hostels (not a bad thing if you want more peace)

Room was nice, breakfast was good and the place was clean.

It seemed as if the owners did not want to be there, weird atmosphere - not rude just a bit awkward. After leaving a similar review on another well known review website, they replied to the review by lying saying we were not sociable - we tried to be friendly but didn't get much in response. We also made a comment about the laundry weighing a different weight when dirty and then when clean - by a considerable amount which is not possible! They replied by saying they weighed it in front of us which is another lie because they did not and took it elsewhere to be cleaned.

The pictures don't do the place justice. It's very clean, and in great shape. The management there is very helpful and friendly.

The location is fine, but some people may not like that you have to walk up a hill to get to it.

Loved our stay at the hostel, very clean, quiet with a filling breakfast and nice staff. Location wise quite close to center

Only drawback: you need to pay to leave your luggage there after check-out

Excellent breakfast, very comfy beds and nice chill out area to watch movies on a rainy day!

Noise from outside- hundreds of dogs barking! Also the door to our room was noisy because the wood kept getting stuck.

The place was really nice and had a lot of places to relax or hang out outside of your room. They also had movies you could watch. They staff was also very good with giving directions and a map as to where things were in town. I also recieved a very nice and informative email beforehand. There was also a sign on the street before the street we needed to turn on which helped us find the way to the place the first time. We got a front door key so we could come and go as we pleased. Shower was also nice and had hot water. Bed was pretty comfy. It was also cool that their electricity came from renuable energy.

Breakfast was a little disappointing the first day. We got scrambled eggs as well the second day, but there was no fruit to eat. For as much as we paid and it said breakfast was included, I had the expectation of more variety for breakfast, or a more complete breakfast. Also, I was a little frustrated that they said they could only watch our bags for us until noon. They guy working there was nice enough to offer to stay until 2:00 pm, but I was frustrated that I couldn't check out and still do activities around town without my bags for the rest of the day. It was more than I wanted to spend for two nights. The blinds on our room didnt really keep it that dark in the morning. I also didn't like that when we picked up our bags again, we werent allowed to use the restroom or anything; we just had to take our bags and go.

Cleanliness and quietness were important. The owners were friendly and spoke English.

When the owners weren't there, the front desk person and maid didn't speak any English. The house was up a steep hill, but taxis were only $1 from town center...a nice six block walk downhill.

Fantastic vibe, great location and lots of common space/areas both inside and out, with a terrific garden and hammocks. We loved the owners, Jimmy is hilarious

The breakfast situation. 2-3 dollars more to eat a reasonably-sized breakfast would make this an 5-star hostel. Seriously, it is an incredible value as it is, so we'd totally understand charging a little extra.

This hostel was spotless, owners were very helpful and professional. The breakfast was great, fresh juice, eggs, fruit as well as bread and tea/coffee. There are two bikes that can be hired and a great detailed map to the casscades.

Small point, greater coverage for wi fi.

Staff gave detailed directions for my bike ride around Banos, room was very clean, huge and clean bathroom

Owners pet dog would sometimes take a dump in the front yard and made it smell bad.

Super clean, new and pretty instalations with cool front garden good looking and comfortable rooms. The lady is just a gift from the sky and the breakfast did the job. Nice hicking right up the street.

The town is verry humid but the hotel rocks!

The place was very clean and organized. I liked that they used ecological energy and I could appreciate the strictness though it was a bit much at times. The breakfast was good if you came early enough.

We arrived at 5am as agreed in the booking. We booked one private double bed and one dorm bed. When we come the lady tells us that I can't enter the dorm because I would wake everyone up and that I have to sleep in the common area - where there's no room for sleeping. So in the end I had to squeeze in with my friends in their room. Afterwards we find out from other guests that all the dorm beds were full so she'd double booked it and didn't want us to know. When we're leaving after staying 3 nights we pay and see that we're being charged for the dorm bed that I wasn't allowed to use! When I confront her about it she says that I have to pay because I slept in the bed of my friends and because I booked it. So in the end I had to pay the bed but with a 2 dollar discount - so they recieved 2 payments for the same bed. I really would have understood if I hadn't shown up, and I would have gladly paid but when I do show up and pay for a bed I want to be able to sleep in it! I really did not appreciate this, and the dishonesty. Another thing was that we really felt like we were not welcome while staying there, always felt like we were in the way or doing something wrong as we were always being accused of things and "scolded". In the end the only major thing we didn't like was the staff. Well, the man was very nice but the woman really did just seem like she didn't like doing this at all and just took it out on everyone around. So even though the hostel itself was nice, I really can not reccommend this place and I won't be staying there again.

the staff was awesome, I had huge problems with a local airline and they spent literally hours and hours on the phone fixing it, as my Spanish is pretty average

far away from the city center, but since this is a small town it doesn't matter too much

First of all, the property is super clean and the beds are super comfy. All european standard! The hot showers are working most of the time and perfect too. The breakfast that gets served every morning is much better than most other hostals. When we tolld the owner that we would take the 6am bus the next day she offered us to prepare a lunchbox for us. Excellent service!

Two things are a bit less; the property is located a 5 minute walk downhill to the center of town. The way back is pretty steep up hill but taxis are good available and cheap. They unfortunatelly don't have ensuite rooms but the bathrooms are kept very clean so isn't the biggest problem.

If you want a clean bed and warm clean showers, this is a good place. They also organize tours, paragliding and rent bikes. There is a lot to like here.

There are also some downfalls. Room downstairs are not the same quality as the room upstairs but are the same prices (i stayed in both). Internet can be off for hours. Breakfast is good but a bit light. It s not like they say, hotel quality. It has the potential to be fantastic but it is just a plain good hostal.

La Casa del Molino Blanco is a friendly, money-worth southamerican stop! At first sight looks like a bit "lost with location", but after an overnight stay I felt like I am up to do anything. Rooms are big, with comfortable beds, clean bathroom and hot water. It is the nicest place I have slept in in South America!

The hostel is clean and well-run, the staff is competent and helpful. Great location in Banos, on the edge of town, plenty close but still quiet.

Dorm rooms are in the basement and are quite dark. Access to the kitchen is limited in the mornings because staff is serving breakfast, but the breakfast is short on protein, mostly bread and cereal and juice, but no fresh fruit in a climate where fruit is so readily available. Difficult to use the kitchen during the day because staff is so busy cleaning... a bit too regimented for my comfort.
