We had a double room downstairs which was clean with lots of room. The only downside was a small window so it was a bit dark but this wasn't a huge issue. There was an outside area with chairs and hammocks which was great for socialising and the wifi worked best in this area. We organised zip lining through the hostel and hired bikes from them which we're in good condition. The house was a 5-10 min walk away from the centre but not a bad walk it was fine even in the evening.
The wifi didn't work well downstairs in the rooms. The breakfast was small and it was hit and miss whether you got eggs cooked for breakfast. If not then it was bread and jam only.
Clean in general Cute place Cheap price but...
Breakfast is limited...and eggs one day a week... if you come the wrong ... Fisrt impression of the casa My first check out bill was higher then my booking.. Add to fight a bit .. And finally the 15 % extra chage if you pay with credit card....
Nice atmosphere, comfy tv room, hammocks outside. Private room was big, clean, light, great bed. Breakfast was good; pancakes OR eggs OR cornflakes with salad and bread, very watered down juice.
Its slightly out of town, 10mins walk up a big hill but I think it was worth it. Staff were a bit grumpy, have their own ways at breakfast and kept butting in to peolle about their portion sizes and taking food outside. Shared Bathroom could do with being cleaned more than once a day.
It was very clean, good breakfast and great value for money!
The cinnamon hand soap in the toilet.
Clean and warm B&B. Owner was lovely and showed us where to go with recommendations. Easy 5 min walk into the main part of town.
Massage (optional) was only ok.
Staff speaks English and very helpfull Clean Good Wifi Clean kitchen and nice common room Good laundry service Possibility to rent a mountainbike for $6 Breakfast available for $2, worth it
Location just out of centre, but still walking distance. During our stay (16&17 oct.) a catholic event was happening. Fireworks went off 24/7. Had nothing to do with the hostel but very disturbing. Check before you go to Baños.
Owners are very helpful and friendly. The bathrooms are big and clean. They have a lot of organized tours and activities to keep you busy. Relaxed and comfortable atmosphere.
Not a lot of storage or room for my bag in the dorm room. I was put in the top bunk and I always felt like my stuff was in someone's way.
Really nice, very friendly and helpful!
The facilities were great: the bedrooms, the bathrooms, everything. And also clean.
The hostal was almost empty and all clean when we got there at 11.30 , still we had to wait for check in untill 13h and the place is not that central. Further leaving our backpack was something complicated for the owner..
Ella and Jimmy were very welcoming when we arrived and helpful throughout our stay. The breakfast was delicious, one of the best we have had in South America. The hostel is spotlessly clean and a great place to relax and chill out. The rooms are very comfortable and we slept really well.
Staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Jimmy even gave me his spare charger after mine was stolen on the way to Baños and tge replacement I bought didn't work very well. Location was nice and quiet but close enough to town. The beer was plentiful and cheap!
The hostel itself was clean and comfortable. Breakfast and wifi were provided. There was a nice outdoor seating area where we were able to enjoy drinks after hours.
The staff, in particular the owners, were downright rude. As soon as they found out we weren't booking excursions through them they not only put down our excursion agency (which turned out to be fabulous and incredibly professional), but also had attitude with us the rest of the weekend. At one point one of our group members was POSSIBLY going to have to leave and asked if she would be able to get her money back. When she found out she was able to stay, she informed the owner and the owner said her bed and all others had been rented out. After a round about conversation, the owner said she was teaching her a lesson, don't say you might leave, but in reality no beds were rented out. Very unprofessional!
It was clean, quiet and nicely decorated. The bed was comfortable and there were a ton of movies to watch in the common room for rainy days. It was away from the noisy bar area of the town and close to the trailhead for several trails. Also they say that they use wind energy for their electricity.
The wifi wasn't great upstairs... It was only really fair downstairs too... The breakfast is inconsistent.. One day we had this nice spread with eggs, fresh fruit and bread... The next it was just toast... A girl asked for some fruit or something to supplement the carbfest but they said " not today, it's different everyday" ... Different but definitely not equivalent :( The worst thing was that they have advertised these package deals where if you book an activity through them, they advertise a discount on your stay and a free massage. Well when it came time to pay, they insisted that this didn't apply to customers who reserved their room through booking.com ... It doesn't say this anywhere on the sign... They also made up several other reasons why they couldn't give me the discount ... None of which were indicated anywhere... After 15 min of haggling I was able to get them to at least lower the price reasonable. They weren't even at all apologetic that they had been misleading, in fact they kept telling me that the discount I negotiated was coming out of one of the staff member's pockets.. Trying to guilt me??? Any ways it's fine enough just avoid their "deals" and make sure everything is in writing... And don't expect a good breakfast everyday : /
Clean and comfortable hostel.
Location - too far from the center compared to other hostels.
Attentive friendly staff. Relaxing spot. Clean.
We enjoyed the friendly staff and very clean, welcoming atmosphere of the hostel. Not many people shared the bathrooms, making it well worth the money.
The hostel is an easy cab ride but a decent walk away from the center of Banos, considering the size of the city. Breakfast was appreciated but did not fill us up.
Really clean, great breakfast, nice hot showers.
a little further from the center by about 5 minutes than other hostels (not a bad thing if you want more peace)
Room was nice, breakfast was good and the place was clean.
It seemed as if the owners did not want to be there, weird atmosphere - not rude just a bit awkward. After leaving a similar review on another well known review website, they replied to the review by lying saying we were not sociable - we tried to be friendly but didn't get much in response. We also made a comment about the laundry weighing a different weight when dirty and then when clean - by a considerable amount which is not possible! They replied by saying they weighed it in front of us which is another lie because they did not and took it elsewhere to be cleaned.
The pictures don't do the place justice. It's very clean, and in great shape. The management there is very helpful and friendly.
The location is fine, but some people may not like that you have to walk up a hill to get to it.
Loved our stay at the hostel, very clean, quiet with a filling breakfast and nice staff. Location wise quite close to center
Only drawback: you need to pay to leave your luggage there after check-out
Excellent breakfast, very comfy beds and nice chill out area to watch movies on a rainy day!
Noise from outside- hundreds of dogs barking! Also the door to our room was noisy because the wood kept getting stuck.
The place was really nice and had a lot of places to relax or hang out outside of your room. They also had movies you could watch. They staff was also very good with giving directions and a map as to where things were in town. I also recieved a very nice and informative email beforehand. There was also a sign on the street before the street we needed to turn on which helped us find the way to the place the first time. We got a front door key so we could come and go as we pleased. Shower was also nice and had hot water. Bed was pretty comfy. It was also cool that their electricity came from renuable energy.
Breakfast was a little disappointing the first day. We got scrambled eggs as well the second day, but there was no fruit to eat. For as much as we paid and it said breakfast was included, I had the expectation of more variety for breakfast, or a more complete breakfast. Also, I was a little frustrated that they said they could only watch our bags for us until noon. They guy working there was nice enough to offer to stay until 2:00 pm, but I was frustrated that I couldn't check out and still do activities around town without my bags for the rest of the day. It was more than I wanted to spend for two nights. The blinds on our room didnt really keep it that dark in the morning. I also didn't like that when we picked up our bags again, we werent allowed to use the restroom or anything; we just had to take our bags and go.
Cleanliness and quietness were important. The owners were friendly and spoke English.
When the owners weren't there, the front desk person and maid didn't speak any English. The house was up a steep hill, but taxis were only $1 from town center...a nice six block walk downhill.
close to edge of town and quieter and accessible to hot-springs.
everything was good.
