close to the center of town. breakfast was good Loud visitors woke me up room has very thin walls and you have no feeling of privacy the kitchen gives off a foul gas smell through the day and late into the night hard to get fresh air and only a small little window to open right above the vent of the oven from the kitchen

I emailed to the hotel earlier that I would arrive late around midnight due to late flight. They responded with one female and one male staff waiting for me at reception at midnight. Even though the house does not look that big from outside, surprisingly there are so many rooms available; and still have space set up on each floor with a sitting area for relax and reading. Breakfast was good and healthy with polite staff. Special thanks to the receptionist Carla. She is plesant, friendly and English speaking. She made effort to call elsewhere to find information for me. After called a taxi, she went out to explain to driver (as I don't speak Spanish) where I would like to go and confirmed the fare. Excellent customer service.

The room was very clean and had lots of character, including a brick wall and a balcony. The staff was very friendly, and the breakfast spread was delicious (bread, granola, yogurt, fruit, juice, eggs, coffee and tea). There is a supermarket a block away. Location-wise, it is pretty central and a taxi to Plaza Foch costs 3usd. We liked it so much, we stayed three more nights! In-house laundry was expensive - it cost us 15.00 for an average sized load (underwear, socks, eight shirts and four pairs of pants). There is a laundromat around the corner which would probably be cheaper.

Vieja Cuba offered attentive, friendly service in stark contrast to other hotels we stayed at. The hotel's facilities were impeccably clean and in working order. Highly recommended.

Vieja Cuba is a very comfortable and affordable hotel; convenient to a variety of restaurants in the popular La Mariscal district and within walking distance of Central Historical (Old Town). The staff was very friendly and spoke enough English so I could get by; and were very accomodating.

Proximity to airport and city sights was excellent. Very clean, pleasant room. Breakfast was plentiful and very good. Staff friendly and helpful. WiFi strong and fast. Perhaps the location of our Room 1 was insufficient to mask noise from people coming and going all through the night. I would stay again and ask for a room at the back of the hotel.

We originally only planned on spending one night, but absolutely loved the hotel. We ended up staying a second night because we enjoyed the hotel and city so much. We stayed in the suite and loved the two floor layout and the balcony only added to our enjoyment.

Beautiful, cozy, comfortable little hotel. We had room 11 & it was much nicer than I expected for only paying $65 USD, it had a downstairs sitting area with a small spiral staircase that led upstairs to a bedroom & small balcony. Local restaurant right across the street with food that is both good & cheap (but they close pretty early so better to plan for lunch). Wifi in every room so you can surf the web in the comfort of your room instead of having to sit in a common area like many of the other hotels we encountered in South America. Front desk was very helpful Good food at hotel's restaurant. Service at hotel's restaurant was painstakingly slow. They seemed to be extremely understaffed that night, all there was was 1 cook & another gentleman who was serving as cook's assistant, waiter, & managing the front desk. Took us over 30 minutes to get our drinks, almost an hour & a half to get 2 bowls of spaghetti. Another patron at a separate table ordered wine with his meal & didn't even receive it until after he had finished eating. Once food finally arrived it was very good though. Also, hotel's website says that they accept credit cards but when we tried to pay with one it didn't work, even though it had worked everywhere else in South America. We ended up having to go find an ATM at 5:00 am the morning we were supposed to fly home. Front desk was nice enough to send an employee with us to the ATM so we could find it faster & also because its not the safest place for tourists to be walking alone at dark so this made us feel better about the situation. Location is pretty good but not as close to the Mariscal square as many of the other hotels.

Great price and location in city. The included breakfast was fantastic. Probably the best ever. Great variety-Eggs, bacon, ham & cheese, juice, coffees, fruits, toast, etc. They even served breakfast earlier then usual because we had an early flight. Staff friendly and helpful. Great decor and pleasant room. Small but adequate and clean. Great shower. Only thing I didn't did is that it is very popular and they were booked on our retrun. Probably the best place in city for value & comfort!

It's incredibly charming- not your run-of-the-mill hotel decor. All staff were very welcoming and helpful. The (mostly Italian - not Cuban?!) food in the restaurant took a little long to receive, but was well worth the wait. Each of our dishes was fabulous. It was a bit noisy - the rooms are not soundproof. You can hear other guests coming and going very easily, which is difficult throughout the night or early morning hours.Still, we would return to the hotel without a thought.
