We liked the lights by the stairs. We liked the comfortable beds. We appreciated being to leave our luggage both before and after our stay while we toured the town. We did not like the dark furniture. The lighting in the room was too dim. The walls, unfinished concrete, while ultra modern, was not to our taste..

The pool was good. The location in the settlement centre. Seeing our disappointment with the housing, the staff offered some compromises. If you want to travel to Estonian islands keep away from Saaremaa because some mysterious legends of singer Georg Ots have made it so popular for the Finnish people that the money has lost the value there. There are many beatyful islands with appropriate price, warm reception and confortable housing in Estonia to find better experiences for your vacation. In Kuressaare they ask the same money as in Stockholm, Helsinki, Tallinn or Riga but the level of service is back in soviet time. Actually, Kuressaare is not a capital if the locals have not recognized it yet. So, we found ourselves in soviet style room with peeling paint from the ceiling, broken furniture and flicking TV. The vent system made so much noice that we couldnt keep the light on in the bathroom. The children were quite a shocked and we requested the replacement. It was positive that the staff accepted it into the new side of the hotel. Still, the breakfast was the next experience that showed us that the management is not present in the hotel - cold food, limited choice, tasted not fresh etc.

The breakfast choices were quite nice. The site stated that the use of swimming pool is included in the price for the room, whereas it turned out you had to pay for it anyway. The family room (2+2) actually offered just 3 sleeping places. The hotel's pub which was supposed to be open till 23 p.m. stayed open half the night with all the "pleasantries" of loud music, drunk singing, etc.

Entrance, restaurant and spa look modern and clean. Rates are acceptable. Although the entrance is in the modern building, we were given a room in the old building. This building looked outdated and the room was small and had no atmosphere. The beds were placed awkwardly and it was a disappointment overall, compared to the nice entrance/reception. Even more disappointing was that, although the Hotel calls itself Johan Spa, the costs of the Spa were not included in the standard room fare.

My deception was very high! The room was horrible, with insects and the price so expensive! And, the service was very bad because we wanted one double bed, and after I wrotte in mail that question, they didn't want change it. It seems a grat hotel and it's better any hostel for backpackers.

The hotel is modern and centrally located in the city centre. Everything is on walking distance. The staff was totally incompetent in solving problems. Reservations made before by mail was not replied " as there was no room anyway ". After using booking.com the room was suddenly available. The ordered childrenbed, what was not necessary, could not given back "as they had to pay commission for this to booking.com anyway..." The breakfastroom was small and the breakfast itself was very simple.

The spa area was nice and the design of the room was cool. The staff and service at this hotel was really poor. When we complained that the minibar didn't work, the receptionist just shrugged her shoulders and said that almost all minibars in the hotel were broken. The AC in the room hardly worked and it was very hot in general in the hotel. The bathroom had a urin smell.

Excellent pools (indoor and outdoors), sauna, steam room and other "water relaxation" options. Good breakfast. Very pleasant and accommodating staff. They have one A/C system servicing two three-story buildings. So it is as good as none. Wireless internet does not work in the rooms.

Proximity to the town centre The hotel did not look busy at all and I had asked for a Double Bed rather than a Twin Room in my reservation. This was not listened to and instead I was given two slightly uncomfortable single beds which couldn't even be moved together.

The room was tidy and the breakfast buffet well supplied. Very good location in the middle of the town, but in a really quite and paved street Like many other customers having used this booking site, we were offered a room in the old premises, which has not been a problem per se, it was just that we indeed in that case had no access to the spa and had to pay 6 euros for it

“We use to stay at the hotel in January as a couple with some friends of ours. From positive side we could mention the extremely friendly and helpful staff. SPA is also great, very pleasant and suitable for relaxation. During last visit (two years ago) we left some recommendations for the hotel administration. This time we discovered that our recommendations were taken into consideration. It shows that the administration is keen to improve the quality of service, which is already high enough. I am sure, this is the best SPA hotel in Estonia.” Aleksandr, Tallinn |
