The room was spacious, nicely decorated The hotel is built around a courtyard, which part of it is the kitchen. The noise from it which carries up is not enjoyable if you stay in you room and try to sleep, the kitchen staff tend to stand outside for a smoke which does not attribute to the comfort of the stay.

Very central hotel staff very friendly stayed in deluxe room but sure what this means though - Overall it is a nice hotel but we felt it missed the mark on some things. Comments noted as observations. No key for safe, speaker system did not work and no soap etc. Breakfast on second day was disappointing just cold platter no hot food. We are well travelled and do not normally feel disappointed in where we stay but this hotel let itself down on the small points. As centrally located it can be noisy outside particularly on a Saturday night we had a room on the side overlooking restaurant terrace it could be noisy during the day and early evening as well. The former is to be expected due to location the latter less so as restaurant is part of hotel

The hotel is a beautiful mediaeval building with lots of character. The rooms are all different with beams, sloping ceilings etc. I assume we must have been upgraded as we ordered a standard double but were given a large room with a huge bed, a sofa, large recess wardrobe, fridge etc. It was a pleasure to spend time there. The staff dealt well with the little faults we reported - we couldn't get our radio to go off completely, and the sauna wasn't switched on in the morning, but they attended to these difficulties immediately. We had good breakfasts despite arriving in the dining room as late as possible each morning (so that we could sleep in). All in all, a great hotel - we would definitely return.

Lovely hotel, all rooms are dfferent, ours wasn;t enourmous but clean and more than enough for the amount of time we were in it. The staff were pleasant, location was great and we even had a dip in the jacuzzi on the last morning. Overall a great few days.

Location and breakfast were good. It seemed that hotel had a new management and maybe because of that there were many little things that did not work. Our room was dirty (cobwebs, dustballs, dirty rug), our room did not have any soap, shampoo or any other "normal" toiletries that you might assume boutique hotel has, we had to ask for our room to be cleaned (towels changed, bed made), as nothing was done when we came back to hotel at 4.15pm, we had only one tv-channel (and we were told that repair guy was coming on Monday - no use for us), and after all this: not even a single word of apologies for any inconvenience. I would not dare call this a boutique hotel.

The location of the hotel was perfect for visiting the Old Town of Tallinn. The best word that I can use to describe this hotel is charming. The staff was very friendly and informal. The television reception was terrible and it only had one channel. They also need to put more and better towels in the bathroom.

This is an all-around good hotel - centrally located in the old town, within short walking distance from everything. Very friendly and helpful stuff. The rooms are equipped with excellent soft beds. Our room was very spacious, clean and quiet with a nice bathroom. Very satisfied - will definitely stay there if we visit Tallinn again.

A warm welcome from staff who went out of their way to provide an excellent service. Hotel has been beautifully and tastefully renovated and has an Italian style restaurant. The hotel is well situated in the old town yet is close to the main areas of the rest of the city - shopping malls and transport links etc.

Location is superb -- nearby all sights and shopping places. Poor breakfast, and the staff did not ask or show any interest regarding what to have for the breakfast. The service level of the hotel has been decreased dramatically in few years.

It was full of character and different to your usual hotels. A couple of the walls were unpainted. They would look better if they were painted. Apart from that, the room was lovely.

Location, room, and design. Hotel staff is the same as the restaurant staff...you have to wait a bit outside every time you go back to the hotel.

We enjoyed it. It is in a historic building in the old town of Tallin. The room was delightful we had a king size 4 poster bed. We were not warned that the taxi could only get us to about 400m from the hotel(as the hotel is in the old town). Walking the last 400m with all our luggage- we had lots of it incuding a bike box as we were on our way back from a triathlon event- was not easy over the cobbles..

The Viru is superbly positioned in the Old town of Tallinn, and is very nicely appointed, the Rooms are gorgeous and full of character, with exposed beams and different levels etc. We had a Superior Dlx Room, and the Bed was extremely comfortable. Only minor points were that the WiFi was a bit hit/miss in the room, and the tv only had a about 3 channels on it, none International/English. The Hotel operates its own Pizzeria/restaurant from street level, which we used once. However, it was staffed by very young staff with seemingly no-one in charge, and consequently service was chaotic, some people's meals came quickly, some didnt, and we waited for over an hour before finally being told that they had forgotten to put in our order. 2 Pizza's were hastily prepared for us, which were good, and they didnt charge us as we had waited so long, but all in all, not ideal.

“This hotel was perfect for our long weekend in Tallinn. The hotel is perfectly located for both the Old Town and Castle Hill. The staff were really helpful and took care of all our needs. The price is very reasonable given the location of the hotel and it was very clean which is really important to me. All in all I would recommend it as a good place to stay for a weekend of exploring in Tallinn. It is not luxury but it certainly did the job just fine!” Shannon, Old Windsor |
