Convenient central location with generous buffet breakfast; decent value for money in a city where there's not that much available for budget travellers; safe place for two independent women travellers, with staff who were careful to warn us about how to deal with potential problems from locals. Smelly bathroom suffering from poor ventilation and drainage; pressure from hotel guest services manager to buy tours, services etc. (but this is typical of Cairo!). |

Clean rooms and nice hot showers; friendly staff (doormen, front desk, restaurant workers, etc.). Management was hostile toward unaffiliated private tour guide that we hired, presumably because they did not get a percentage of her fees like they do for their preferred guides. |

The City view, good location in the center of Cairo and closed to the Egyptian Museum. (1). They didn't accept any credit cards only cash, claiming that the machine was broken...(haven't we all heard that one before? hahaha). (2). The hotel let a tour organizator to phone in room and offer their services. (3). 12 hours after breakfast we got diarrhea. Location is good but be carefull with the food and the staff. |

The service staff was quite helpful and willing. Breakfast was simple and nice (though cold sometimes). Room cleaning was nice and on time. Actually there are quite many things (small though): There were no city maps available at the hotel reception which is the first thing a guest ask for. The was a mini bar in the room but it was not checked/refilled, so we had to brought water bottle from outside. Although there was wi-fi network available in all hotel rooms, there was no signal at all in our room, we had to go to the common room to access internet. But thats manageable as they have 2 pc's with internet connection. Also they claimed to have pickup and drop off facility from Airport (for stay of more than 4 days). But in reality, they provide it for one side only, that too reluctantly. |

Staff was nice but wanted a Tip for everything. Only payment is in Cash. Rooms have lots of Street noise. The windows are so old, the only Thing the keep out is the rain. Breakfast was good, but Book all your Day Trips without the help of the hotel. IT will Save you Money As the hotel gets à kickback for every Fish (guest) the bring. Tipping for use of the Elevator. Old Windows lots of street noise. Payment only in Cash upon arrival. |

Being right in the city centre close to where things are happening. Initial welcome to the hotel was nice. Some hotel staff are really nice, smiley and genuine. I felt some hotel staffs were pretending to care but they really just want money out of you, even when I was sick with food poisoning. The night manager asked if I wanted tea to make me feel better, 2 mins later came knock on the door with a bill asking to be paid. I also had a friend needed a place to spend few hours before flying out. The manager wasn't happy with it so knock my door at 2am asking me to pay. I finally agreed just to keep him off my back. The payment wasn't receipted which means money would have just gone straight into his pocket. The place was poorly sound proofed. You can hear all sorts of noises (on the road, upstairs, lobby, reception), and I'm the type that don't usually hear alarm going next to me... |

The City View Hotel is a very comfortable place to stay in Cairo. It is conveniently located opposite the Egyptian museum and a short walk to restaurants and shopping. The Manager Tiger Lofty and his staff are friendly and helpful at all times. The rooms are comfortable with modern and very clean bathrooms. They are also quite spacious and some have a small balcony. We stayed on two different occasions, once with a balcony and once without. The room without the balcony was a slightly bigger room. The buffet breakfast is very nutritious and includes hot dishes, salads, cheeses, olives, eggs and a variety of different breads and spreads as well as cereal and yoghurt. Each day there is something different on the menu. We had a wonderful stay! |
