Pymamids and lovely garden view. Free tour of suites where Churchill and General Montgomery stayed. Incredible amibiance, service and amenities.
The location ,the view , and the comfort of the room, Also the staff and restaurants there r very nice
The people are very kind.
The internet was not working well. And the room was not 42m2 as described on the booking.com-site.
Being in sight of the pyramids. Comfortable, friendly safe place to stay. Excellent cuisine. Helpful staff. A bit out from Cairo as Geza is but cleaner with less polluted air.
For the price free wi-fi everywhere would have been good...but it is a vast hotel. I could have paid for wi-fi in the main lobby so nowhere private to do work, if necessary.
I loved staying at the Mena House! It is beautiful, with very friendly and helpful staff. And the location was amazing. It was quiet and peaceful. I will for now on, only be staying at the Mena House anytime I visit Cairo.
feeling of welcome, confort and beauty
No bad expérience
location is unbeatable, with a direct view to the Giza pyramids. The rooms are very new and they have everything you might need. free wifi in the lobby area. transportation inside the hotel with golf carts. Beautiful historical buildings which are very well maintained. We even got a tour inside the hotel and some of the special rooms. The hotel staff is very kind and nice. Except front desk.
Reception desk staff was not very friendly. they made a mistake with our booking and initially gave us a wrong room, then when we complained they sad that they had "upgraded" our room with no extra charge. The beds are very hard, with no option to change.
Location was Great, Quiet, which is a great blessing in Cairo, Indian restaurant was very tasty, Lovely Pool
You can not do better with another property for the proximity to the Pyramids. Fantastic view from our balconies. Rooms are better situated for families (we booked 2 adjoining rooms) and the second room was discounted since our boys were staying in it (ages 10 & 12). I fell ill during our stay and the butler & room service staff were very kind and concerned to help however they could - brought a lot of beef consume ;)!
Probably should not have stayed for 4 days, better for a couple of days to explore Giza. Very little help with negotiating the hawkers at the base of the hill leading up to the Pyramids. We were directed to the in house travel agent office by the front desk staff (who always seemed confused when we asked for assistance) but no one was ever available. After several attempts to speak with someone we did manage to secure one of the travel agents who advised us in essence we were on our own, no relationships with any of the multitude of horse carriage or taxi drivers ready to pounce on you. Food choices were limited for an active family and not very interested in a sit down meal 3 times a day. Wish there were more quick meal or picnic meal options. A very different experience from a another 5 star hotel we had just stayed with in Cairo.
The hotel had a great view with very spacious room. The interior of the hotel was very nice and on the better end of historic hotels (though upkeep needs to be improved to preserve this historic treasure)
We were extremely disappointed with our stay due to the following: - Rates are not inclusive and they charge exorbitant amounts for amenities, such as EUR 20 per day for wifi USD 5 for a cup of coffee (breakfast not included and not even that good anyways etc.) - Hotel complex was an unnecessary mess due to construction. Tools, wheels, and construction supplies were strewn about the complex. - While walking through the hotel, storekeepers aggressively coax you into stores, even while outside waiting for transportation - Hotel is isolated and charges (also have to bargain) exorbitant rates for taxis, while walking outside the hotel results in about a 90% discount. - Hotel staff are unfriendly and unhelpful, especially front desk. Would extremely discourage staying at this hotel. Have stayed at several Oberoi hotels and cannot believe there is any affiliation with the chain.
Everyone was very helpful and friendly. I loved the fresh fruit every morning.
Location absolutely outstanding; couple of mins on foot to pyramids. Had pool & restaurant totally to myself for lunch. Thanks to Booking.com deal paid less than half rack rate. Guided tour of historical rooms by General Manager
Would have been nice to be in the main building rather than an annexe, but I had a pyramid view and was on a special deal, so fair enough.
Polite staff, good location, lovely hotel
In house taxi company are scammers. Charged us 30 USD for a taxi ride to the entrance of the Pyramids which was 5 minutes walking. They advised us to take a taxi instead of walking. Booked premier room with Pyramyd view, but did not look over the Pyramids. Had to open the balcony door and look far left to see the Pyramids.
To many house fly and other Did not meet my expectations
location, original building is extraordinary in a world of much that is ordinary a hunting lodge originally built by the king of egypt is truly unique and the restaurant with its view of the pyramids which does not dominate because the room itself is so amazing
poor wi fi was my only complaint
- View of the pyramids from my room - Size and comfort of the room - Beautiful gardens to stroll in - Attentiveness of the staff
- Had to pay extra for the breakfast - No free Wifi, except in the lobby area downstairs
Everything was exellent!
Ambience, location, landscape, architecture, history, indian restaurant is top notch, breakfast is very good. Amazing staff, very helpful & professional.
No free wifi in the room.
Everything! this is the second time my husband and I stayed there. The view is too amazing. Make sure you spend the extra to get a pyramid view room. There is some renovation going on, but they do a really good job of putting everyone far away from it. The Egyptian breakfast is amazing as well. We ate it on the balcony looking at the Pyramids. The history of the hotel itself is really amazing. Ask for a special tour and hopefully no one is staying in the Montgomery or Churchill suits so you get to take a peak! The hotel is in amazing condition and has been upkept throughout the years. Also their is free Wifi in common areas, there is a new restaurant beside the fountains, and the Indian restaurant has great food too. We will go back to this hotel every time we go to Egypt!
Proximity to pyramids Comfort View Food was excellent Good staff
Amazing location, amazing food, amazing service and value for money. Would go back anytime.
View of the pyramids from the room. Friendly and helpful staff. An anniversary cake in the room, with flowers upon check-in. Security at the hotel. Live music trio in the lobby lounge. Efficient laundry and dry cleaning service. Complimentary bottled water, replenished daily, along with a bowl of fruit. Historical pictures on the TV, of Mena House in years gone by.
Laminate floors in room in an "upscale" hotel. Lack of "free" WiFi in the lobby and the rooms. WiFi only available at one restaurant? Having to request face cloths daily. Balcony railings that need to be repainted. Being told that waffles, on the breakfast menu, were not available. An omelete cooking station that is visible and easily accessible. No booklet in the room to highlight the hotel amenities and restaurant menus and hours of operation. No apparent room service for food? Lack of availability of small currency bills from the front desk or bank, on a daily basis. No Spa on site.
The hotel is the last stop on your way to the pyramids, it's that close. The facility was recently renovated and extreamly nice. During our stay very few people were there so we had the palace all to ourselves it felt like.
Location for visiting the pyramids is perfect. Staff is good. Breakfast is good as well. I got a room with pyramids view...that was great to wake up and seeing pyramids. Come on! You deserve it, it is a small difference, but it worth it. :0)
But it is a pretty shame of a good hotel without wifii free. But you can use wifii from 19:00h to mid-night from the swmming pool bar.
