We would highly recommend this hotel for a practical stay in a city centre. Our room was large, pleasant and well insulated from traffic noise. The free room- safe was welcome. There was nothing at all to complain about! Access from the airport was easy by Metro and it was a very short walk to the shops and restaurants. The re-furbishment was complete. Some older reviews do not reflect the present situation. We would use this hotel again.

Sterling is situated right in the centre of Madrid, just off the main street 'Gran Via'. Not knowing much about the city before heading there alone, the staff were fantastic in helping me. I was able to enjoy some fantastic shopping on Gran Via including a visit to El Cortes Ingles. The touristic tour bus stops of Gran Via and tickets can be purchased at the stop. The staff recomended a Flamenco show nearby which was fantastic! I also got to try two restaurants recomended by the staff and both were great! I did not need to take a taxi or use public transport at all during my trip. The hotel was clean and affordable- loved it :)

Easy access to City centre - Gran Via etc. Area is secure and still local for a high street. No bar but that is only a small complaint.

I stayed two nights in the week end with my daughter. I liked the location (near the center and near the metro stop) and the tranquility of the room. The bathroom was clean. The staff were friendly and efficient.

It was just about ok The breakfast was poor. Very disappointed with the choice for the price we paid. The balcony was nice but the view was dreadful as it overlooked scruffy private balconies across the street and the outside light did not work. The shower did not work properly although when told they did fix it.The decor was dark and depressing and the double bed was two single beds pushed together.

It has an excelent location. It's very close to all tourist attractions, underground stations, shops and so on. But it is very quiet, which is important for Madrid. Staff is friendly and helpful. The rooms are very clean. Continental breakfast is in agreement with money paid.

We had a triple room, quite large with big beds. the bathroom was quite big, which was a pleasant surprise. the location of the hotel is very good, 50m from Grand Via, close to shps and theaters ans the city tour bus stop. near the hotel there is a restaurant where you cand eat very good food, at more than reasonable prices. the selection of food for breakfast is poor. more variety would be welcomed.

Location was fine and we enjoyed our stay. The bath was very slippery and I fell backwards whilst having a shower, it would be good if there was a safety mat in the bath. It would also be good if you stocked Soya milk and integral bread for breakfast as well as the white bread.

Location was excellent. We got a good offer, so I think it was very good value for money. Rooms were decorated in a neutral way and they were clean. There wasn't any view from the window, only a wall. That wasn't really a problem, as we didn't come to spend time in the hotel. We travelled with another couple and they were very unhappy about two things: their room smelled strongly cigarettes, and there wasn't possibility to change the room. They also suffered from the noise from the hallway: loud cleaning and other quests were bothering them a lot when they tried to sleep. Our room was obviously located better: we didn't suffer from the noise.

Excellent stay: too bad an unpleasant odour was comig from, probably, the venting system in our room and floor. There wasn't much to do about it: besides, it didn't affect our stay that much, as the room was kept perfectly clean and freshly refurbished.

The rooms are very clean and practicle. It is not located on the main street but some meters from it so you can sleep better at night because the noise it is not on that street. It is very close to the tour bus stop and the breakfast in the morning has everything you need for a simple breakfast. Cheese, jams, cereal, juice, milk, bread, tea. On one side of the hotel you have a 24hr mini supermarket which makes it easier in case you are still hungry or you want something cheap. Good cheap shops around :)!

We felt cigarette smoke remaining in our room. But we supposedly booked a non-smoking room. Next day they fixed it.

“We liked everything about this hotel. The location is fantastic - right in the middle of Madrid and close to several different areas for bars & nighlife etc. All of the staff we dealt with were very friendly and helpful. The bloke who checked us in even gave us a choice of three different rooms depending on whether we wanted a room with a balcony, one on the top floor or a slightly bigger room lower down the building. This hotel is very clean and well maintained with all of the facilities you would expect from a four star place but at a very competitive price. Excellent value, couldn't recommend this place more highly.” Patrice, Birmingham |
