Location and character of building were exemplary. This is a very atmospheric small hotel in one of northern Spain's most attractive historic villages. Dinner was good value. Absence of staff on reception for 15 mins on arrival. Breakfast no more than adequate

Right in the heart of Santillana del Mar and loaded with atmosphere. Our room was comfortable with lots of charm. There was a 10 percent discount in the restaurant for hotel guests and we thoroughly enjoyed the tourist menu. The staff at reception and in the restaurant were very friendly and helpful. The buffet breakfast was incredibly varied and generous. Wi-fi is only available in the public sitting area, but it's a great public sitting area.

Good location. Spacious rooms in a historical manor house. Comfortable public lounge. Despite the shortcomings described below, this is s comfortable, good value for money hotel. The rooms are NOT soundproofing although they run a bar/restaurant downstairs. We were disturbed until midnight.

Both the Hotel Altamira and the town of Santillana del Mar are absolutely stunning. The hotel was a casona-palacio and is beautifully furnished in medieval furnishings and very cozy and comfortable. We did not want to leave. The town is small but lively and beautifully restored with great shops, hotels, and eateries. Free public parking very close to the hotel was also very nice to have. Staff wonderful, rooms large and comfortable, good breakfast. A wonderful place!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Rooms could be a little better sound proofed, but other very comfortable, clean and cozy.

The building is extraordinary; it has a medieval and wonderfully warm feel to it, very richly decorated. With a little more investment, this could be a four-star hotel. The location cannot be beat; indeed, it's right around the corner from the very expensive parador. You step right out your door to the stone street where everyone comes to stroll. We had dinner in the hotel restaurant also, and the food was very good and reasonably priced. The employees are very kind, cheerful, and accommodating. The bathroom is of low quality. They seem short-staffed at times; I had to wait quite a while for someone to come to the front desk so I could check out, at noon.

I have just returned from extended overseas travel with my family and this was my absolutely favourite hotel. The town is idyllic with its cobbled stone narrow streets, stunning views and fabulous restaurants. The hotel is brilliantly located and has all of the old world charm that Australians so adore in Europe. A lovely room with views to the town and surrounding hills made it just perfect. Great breakfast the next day too! Stay here. While I love the portraits on the walls from a by-gone era, my daughrt found them "spooky" and wondered if the place was haunted! Nevertheless, both our children loved their stay too.

Beautifully furnished and maintained hotel in an historic location. Lovely room overlooking the main street in Santillana. Good breakfast. Very good value for money. The tables and chairs in the outside courtyard did not match up to the rest of the hotel.

Altamira is a very old building and and the fixtures and fittings are in keeping with the age of the hotel. Although the building is old it has modern facility's in the bedrooms and sitting rooms. I would reccomend the hotel but would advise that if easy access facilities are needed this Hotel would not be suitable as there is no lift and lots of stairs to access the bedrooms.

Lovely building with good staff some of whome spoke good English Has to the the noisiest hotel I have ever stayed in. The building magnified noise which unfortunately combined with a tour party staying and extensive road works outsiude the buiilding made it unenjoyable. Also, for a traffic free village there was considerable traffic including vans and lorries moving along the narrow road outside the front of the hotel and our window.

Extremely well located in the middle of historical town. Superb furniture makes you feel in a museum. A bit pricy, probably because of the location.
