Location was great , exactly in city center, beds were comfortable. quite and kitchen had all necessary stuff to prepare food. Wifi was ok , signal was a little bit to weak but usable.
No sink and carpet in the room. Showers for men were smaller then for women 0.o .
We only stayed one night as it was easier to get to the airport from this hotel. Location is ok, about 6 blocks from the centre. It also has a kitchen but we didn't use it
One of the beds broke when one of my group sat on it. The wifi signal was pretty bad and kept disconnecting. Worth mentioning that the staff didn't know English that would be a problem for anyone that doesn't know Spanish/Catalan
The location, very central in a nice neighbourhood.
This is a terrible place to stay. Our room had paper thin walls and was situated opposite the bathrooms and the kitchen. We didn't get any sleep, because other people cooking at 1 AM and staff cleaning toilets at midnight. The hotel lady was very rude to us. She didn't speak any English at all and wanted to have the money immediately. The room was small and the bed broke down, so we put the matrass on the floor. Other rooms had doors and sometimes walls from glass, that was weird. Toilets and badrooms were dirty. Garbage bins weren't cleaned for days. Conclusion: don't go to this place. Although it's not expensive, the money isn't worth it.
Bed is comfortable . Good bath . There is a good Greek food restaurant just beside the hotel . Wifi is very good and fast！
Every voice and every word can be heard in the room from the corridor by neighbours. There are noises from the corridor each and every section of the day.
The lady on reception was very helpful.
Be aware.. Nothing like the website, the place looks like a homeless hostel BE AWARE... IF YOU ARRIVE OUT OF OFFICE HOURS YOU WILL BE CHARGED 20 OR 30 EUROS BE AWARE.. THE ROOMS ARE AN ABSOLUTE DISGRACE, WE SPENT AS LITTLE TIME AS POSSIBE IN THE PLACE BE AWARE... THE WEBSITE IS VERY, VERY, VERY DECEITFUL FOR YOUR INFORMAATION... I HAVE BEEN TO BARCELONA ABOUT 7 TIMES , THIS PLACE IS THE WORST BY MILES.. ITS UP TO YOU, AND YOUR MONEY, BUT DONT WASTE IT ON THIS DUMP.. If you want to know more info contatc me, as i could go on and on about this terrible dump.
We had to pay an extra charge because we arrived after midnight. The room was tinny, the walls dirty and the bed linnens looked far from clean. The bathroom was also very small and the polyban the smallest I've ever entered.
It's right in the center, just 10 mins walking from Placa Catalunya and 15 min from La Sagrada Familia, the cleaning is perfect
The staff hardly speak English but nothing annoying.
The staff were very friendly and helpful --- we did not speak the same language but we did communicate.
The picture on Bookings leads you to believe that the room you will get is the one in the picture -- However, there are other rooms that you may get as a double when they should probably only be assigned as a single.
The price! I got a single room for the price of a hostel bed. The facilities in the kitchen means you can cook anything. Living area had a computer and a big flat screen TV (I was in the "appartment"; they have two appartments in the same address). 24 hour grocery stores just outside.
The showers can be a bit dirty but that was expected with shared bathrooms. The flats downstairs (private ones) can be loud and I had to open windows to sleep. But generally very comfortable. Could have done a wardrobe, though there is a chest of drawers.
Location is perfect. In the very center of city, just right next to Ramblas, next to all bars, clubs and restaurants.
Walls are made of paper and plastic with the light comming in form coridor. Very noisy, only possible to sleep with earplugs. For more sensitive sleeper probably would not help also, because public washing mashine naturally is in your room, just to be loaded from corridor. Bathrooms is not so clean also.
Location, price, staff are excellent. Would reccomend my friends!
The Balmes is very good value for such a central situation. Ideal spot for exploring the delights of Barcalona
Although calling itself a guest house this is more of a Hostal. Was fine for one night but my room was tiny
Location and the price is pretty good in BCN
The room is really simple, like a storage room. The bed sheet, pillow case, cover and towels smell terrible, like never washed. The internet never worked while I stayed there for 5 days 4 nights
Possibility of keeping the luggage after check-out (paid) Bedroom had a Fan Central location Reasonably quiet
Staff sometimes went missing for quite some time Interior rooms with scarce light
The hostal isn't very clean, especially the towels, sheets, and the items in the toilets. Moreover, it's difficult to access the wifi in rooms; the customers have to go to the reception area to connect to the Internet, which is quite inconvenient.
Most of the location, the staff was kind
The bed is small
The location was ok and only a 20/ 30 minute walk down to La Rambla and the beach.... but you could get something very similar for probably less money just off La Rambla. The apartment was ok, but could have been so much better if they smartened up the rooms, had better bed linen, put mirrors in the rooms, added another bathroom. I paid 50 euros per night for a very small room with a shared bathroom. It was no better than a hostel but twice the price.
The room advertised on booking and the one we actually got were very different. We were in a tiny box room with polyester sheets. There was no mirror in the bedroom only in the shared bathroom. There was only one toilet for all the guests. The shower leaked and the staff were constantly in there mopping the floor after each guest had used the bathroom. One of the staff ladies sat smoking in the living room every night waiting for late arriving guests. The wifi wasn't very good and only worked intermittently.
We had an apartment with a balcony over looking the courtyard and it was such a beautiful view. The bathrooms are brilliant and cleaned sometimes twice daily, the kitchen facilities are excellent also. Staff are very friendly and happy to help. Can't recommend it enough. The owners were happy for us to leave luggage and collect it later for just 2 euro each! Brilliant.
Reviews on here have stated the the wifi connection wasn't great however I found it more than sufficient for what I needed. I don't know why anyone would be sitting on their laptop all day in Barcelona! No complaints.
Perfect location. Nice big kitchen and open space with sofas, TV, big table for dinner. Perfect for big family or couple.
Too small rooms with no air inside. It was so hot that one of the nights we didn't sleep at all. Bathrooms are a little small as well.
Noise, heat and beds
I found a private room for the price of shared rooms in other places.
The receptionist did not speak English and was aggressive initially when we were unable to communicate and I had shown up early to check-in (because of unforeseen circumstances). I found this was attitude of most locals in Spain towards tourists (particularly English-speaking ones) in general, but it was particularly acute in Barcelona, and this hotel was no exception.
Great location. Lady of the house does not speak english but undestands italian.
Location was great; kitchen available but I didn't use it
My room, and the room across the hall, both had glass doors. So if the hallway light was turned on then there was light coming into your room... Also, my room had a window that opened to the main staircase with the elevator. No outside fresh air, and there was noise from the elevator and front door.
