La Mata to us was just perfect. Our stay was very enjoyable. The location in where we stayed was close to the supermarket, bakery, pharmacy, restaurants and of course the beach. The patio door exploded during a storm while I was closing...
The patio door exploded during a storm while I was closing the door. Glass went everywhere. Could have caused a fatal accident. Glazer had to be brought in to replace glass. Bathroom washbasin and bath leaked water onto bathroom floor. Plumber had to be brought in to repair it. This apartment is a dump, never upgraded and unfit for habitation. Also has a bad smell. I left a week early as I couldn't stay in such conditions.RosemaryIreland - 10Scored 10
Lovely town I've been coming here for 30 years.
Lovely town I've been coming here for 30 years. Very Spanish, I've met some lovely Spanish people who over years have become my friends. If you want a quiet family location La Mata is the place to go.

La Mata is pretty nice but mostly seniors and families with babies. Not the best location if you want to party since everything closes at around 00.00 o'clock. Pretty good restaurants, ok supermarket and bus stops to take you to Torrevieja or Alicante. Most restaurant and hotel staff don't speak english.

La Mata is a step above any were I've ever been in...
La Mata is a step above any were I've ever been in Spain.Still has plenty of locals around which in my opinion gives it that little extra, as the food was authentic, reasonable and fresh 👌 The beach is unreal and clean. It's a lovely place to take yr family and kids if you don't want the crazy night life but there's enough to keep a family entrained.And it feels so safe even for my youngest child at 11, could pop down stairs to the barkery and get a beautiful fresh bun.

Surprise: In the fridge you will even find a bottle of wine that I have not get in France never. Sea view. A lot of cafes and restaurants are nearby. The plates are big there, so be careful-)) Highly recommended for family staying. If you don't like the sea you can use a pool. Many thanks to David for his explanations and help.

Great TV system with access to 100s of channels in multiple countries. Lovely access to boardwalk outside the apartment. Blondy Beach Bar just outside and is lovely for breakfast and lunch. Some nice restaurants in walking distance. Area is quiet and is ideal if you simply want to relax and chill at the beach.GerardIreland

It was perfect for days at the beach as not too far and plenty to do in La Mata Square. We used the upstairs terrace/bbq alot, as we loved the views and ambiance up there. The pools area were great and relaxing.
