ArtetxeCamino de Berriz 112 (Carretera Bi-3741 Enekuri-Artxanda km 7), 48015 Bilbao (Show map) Very good, Score from 283 reviews“It's a small, family run, value for money hotel handily situated next door to a very good restaurant, and just across the road from another one, on a hill overlooking Bilbao.”
Sheree,
Cagnes Sur Mer
This charming, Basque farmhouse has been carefully converted into a pretty, rural hotel, enjoying stunning panoramic views of the regional capital of Bilbao. Set 2 miles outside of central Bilbao, the Hotel Artetxe is located on a hilltop offering views of the smart coastal city below. The hotel buildings were converted to the hotel by the Artetxe family, who continue to run the hotel. Nowadays it blends original, traditional Basque features with a fashionable, minimalist style and modern amenities such as flat-screen TVs and air conditioning. Hotel Rooms: 12

The view over Bilbao was spectacular and our room was large, well equipped and very comfortable. Close to the ferry port and so is an ideal overnight stop. I have 2 very small Yorkshire Terriers and was asked to pay 15 euros for each dog per night. This would be the only thing that stops me booking this hotel whenever I travel on the ferry from Bilbao.

Could not fault this hotel. Terrific value for money. Very helpful staff. Thought it was higher category than listed. Will recommend to our friends. Not the easiest place to find, but well worth it when you do get there!

Excellent location in relation to Bilbao and the Guggenheim Museum. Perfectly located on a hill overlooking the city. Absolutely quiet and yet close to the city. Free parking space. Very professional welcome. Multi-lingual and friendly staff dedicated to help visitors. Very good value for money.

It is very close to Bilbao airport, it is also near Bilbao (if you have a car) parking is easy, internet is included, the staff were very helpful, and the breakfast was fine... In all not a luxury hotel, but totally fine - Just what we needed before catching and early flight.

The hotel staff, owners, were exceedingly helpful especially when we had our car broken into. They do not serve eveing meals but found us some food when we couldn't go out to a restaurant. Its a lovely location and would would certainly go back again.

Had a wonderful stay at Artetxe. Location was superb, carparking excellent and safe. Easy access to Bilbao centre via funincular railway. Artetxe receptionist Eva was outstanding. Equipped us with really useful information and recommendations for things to do. An individual family run hotel that is so hard to find nowadays. Very happy to suggest this as an ideal place to stay in Bilbao.

A very welcoming hotel with a beautiful view on Bilbao. Take it only if you have a car. If you wish to spend a day in Bilbao without having to deal with its extremely complicated net of roads - just park your car at the "Funicular", a mountain train that takes you down to Bilbao in minutes, right to the center, next to the Zubizuri bridge and a short walk from The Museum. We preferred to stay just outside the city and this hotel's location was perfect for that. The rooms were very nice, newly done and spacious. We've had a hell finding the place. Finally we ended up at the airport where a nice lady drew up a map for us. Take a gps!! It is a must in Bilbao.

Quiet, within walking distance of the city, but still in the countryside. Would have been nice with a proper coffee for breakfast (not machine).

The room was nice and roomy and well maintained. The driving instructions to find this location was very poor.. We spent a lot of time trying to find the location we downloaded from booking com, they were not accurate to say the least. However this did not detour us from enjoying our stay.

The location is the very best for seeing Bilbao. Very easy to find using gps but it could be difficult if you did not have good directions and no gps. There is a Funacular ( tram way) about 3 kms from the hotel which will take you to the centre of Bilbao for .90 Euros. It takes about 5 minutes and you arrive very close to the Guggenheim museum. The hotel Artetxe has very nice rooms some with superb views of the city below, and a lovely garden like area surrounds the place. Our room looked out over the city and we had a lovely picnic table outside our room.Very good value for the money. The staff were very accommodating and all we met spoke English No Air conditioning but it did not bother us and the temperatures outside reached 29c during the day. The hotel was well insulated and in the evenings it was very nice. There are some nice but very Expensive restaurants located nearby, but reasonably priced "menus" can be found in the city.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Wonderful views over the city of Bilbao. An hotel with "ambience" ! a short car ride to the funicular railway where you can access the city centre, so it was not a disadvantage to be "outside" of the city area. Breakfast did not look appetising - it was extra cost so we declined.

The staff were friendly and helpful. Easy access to the city via the furnicular. We enjoyed being just outside the city. Good location, excellent price, room size and comfort. Free wi-fi and parking appreciated immensely. Breakfast was great too! The only thing that would of made this a better place to stay would have been a guest tea/coffee making facility. That could be though as Aussies we enjoy our afternoon cuppa.
