Occupying a privileged spot in Bilbao's historic quarter, close to La Ribera market and the Miribilla Quarter, this hotel has been lovingly refurbished with modern interiors and free Wi-Fi.

This charming, Basque farmhouse has been carefully converted into a pretty, rural hotel, enjoying stunning panoramic views of the regional capital of Bilbao.

Excellent staff and view
Difficult to find
This hotel is ideally placed for a visit to Bilbao. The funicular is a short walk along the road and takes you into the city centre. The views from the window are fantastic. The room is comfortable and wants for nothing.
We liked everything about this hotel
Nice view on the mountains. Very nice staff, although with little knowledge of English. Extremely clean!
10mn walk from the closest public transportation (the funicular, which closes at 11pm during summer). Too far away to walk => taxi, which will cost you around 10€ to reach the river. Mattress is quite hard 70€ per night is a high price for this level of service. Might be due to the basket ball world cup.
Good views Reasonably priced Free WiFi Friendly Staff
Shabby rooms Small car park (hard to park anything bigger than a small car) No facilities
Really nice little hotel. The staff is very friendly and helpful. We felt very welcomed and got plenty suggestions for good restaurants and daytime activities. The view from the terrace over Bilbao is beautiful. We hope to get the chance to visit again.
View was fantastic.
Room door key jammed in lock and needed help to free it. Room was rather tired-looking, but bed was comfortable. No air-con, just a fan heater/blower hooked on the wall near the window which didn't work. The tiny TV was stuck on one channel, the volume was so low and also couldn't be changed. There were cafe tables and umbrellas and a bar area, but nothing could be bought, not even water! Such a shame, it could have been done so much better. The only restaurant within walking distance was closed that night!!

Staff did not speak English but was very friendly and willing to help. Beautiful view of the city.
Very far from the city, the funicular was still 1.5 km to walk (alongside a freeway with partly no sidewalk!) there. Say 15 to 20 min. With suitcase is not very comfortable or safe with cars driving by so fast.... costs are a bit high because of this remoteness of the hotel. If you have a car I can imagine it is convenient though. No fridge, and no restaurants or shops on the hill so you have to buy something in the town and then can´t keep is cool in your room.
The view is great, the people of the hotel are nice. Although they do not speak english, they were always willing to help
IT's 447 steps (stairs) down to the city by walking, another 447 up. Use the public transport or a car
Great views over Bilbao, room was basic but good for an overnight stay. Place was very traditional. Very helpful friendly staff.
Parking was very difficult as on a hill and tight. However free. Breakfast was a little expensive for what was offered but nice breakfast area.
Not a lot
Pathetically small car park on very steep slope, dark roads for navigation, hotel recommended restaurant expensive and poor quality, no food or drinks available in hotel (except bar in early evening)' very tired and in bad need of major refurbishment. Manager helpful with exterior problem encountered but no English!
Even though the member of staff I dealt with did nt speak any English anything I needed to be done was sorted out despite my nearly complete lack of Spanish.Contact with him was always friendly and amicable.
location. outside Bilbao in the hills but there is a funicular about 1km away with free parking down into central bilbao. One euro each way. comes out about a 10 minute walk from the Guggenheim. .
initially its location, but having found the funicular, no problems. what is there not to like at this price. as another reviewer has said parking is rather steep so practice your hill starts!
Staff could not have been more helpful, great views of the city, free car park (though need to be good at hill starts!) negating the need to negotiate traffic in the city
it was a shame that Hotel Artxanda didn't offer food in the evening as there was nothing locally which offered food at a reasonable price and unfortunately the funicular closed at 10pm - early if you want to eat and savour the evening atmosphere in Bilbao. Once you were back at the hotel that was it, nowhere to wander....
This hotel overlooks the city. There is a short walk to a funicular railway that takes you straight to the centre of Bilbo/Bilbao.
The car park is a little cramped but it is free and the hotel is great to arrive at straight from the airport without having to negotiate traffic on your first day.
