Hotel Astoria    

I have stayed at the Astoria before and it continues to be a great value hotel. The staff are friendly, the rooms are clean and comfortable and the price is good especially considering it includes a buffet breakfast.

The wi-fi is utterly useless. Although it's free it seldom works and when it does it's painfully slow. There always seems to be groups of undesirable characters loitering near the hotel, especially at night.

I stayed in hotel Astoria for 10 days and I loved absoulutely everything. Clean and comfortable rooms, friendly stuff and great location right next to the beach and shopping street. For a three star hotel it is really good. I highly recommend it!:-)

The only thing that I could mention isthat the breakfast is the same every morning, but not a big deal :-)

The Astoria is a good-value Hotel. The room I stayed in (in the centre of the hotel, inward facing) was very quiet. This was a first for me - I have stayed in numerous hotels in Las Palmas and all have been very noisy. For this reason I shall be staying at the Astoria in the future.

Although the Hotel is only 2 streets back from the pleasant Las Canteras beach, the area it's in is not very salubrious. At all times of the day (but particularly at night) there are groups of very 'unsavoury' looking people loitering next to the hotel, which some people could find quite menacing.

The location,facilities I.E. pool, gym, bar and easy access to shopping, bus services, beach, and old town all combined to make it an ideal getaway

The hotel is very clean. The room was large and clean. The food was good for 3star hotel and there is a gym and sauna for free too. I enjoyed the free internet computers too. Very friendly staf and location too. Ignore comments about the neibourhood.There are no problems and athmosvere is safe and friendly

Good value of standard rooms and Location.

We also booked a superior room and they were more noisy than the standard rooms. Standard rooms have double windows to block external noisy but superior rooms haven't and are on the noisy side of the building.

Views not great No balconies a disappointment

Quite often we're on Canarias as it's lovely place for holiday during wintertime and our favourite one. Everytime we stayed at different hotels just for a change. Should we go to Las Palmas next time we would not do any change. Astoria's just good! We got everything we're out for.

It was convenient for one night and it was very nice after a very long flight from the US. It had a nice breakfast

The entry to the street level is difficult for handicapt persons.

Everything was ok, a value for money. Wi Fi was working fine.

I´m a critical person, but the most was very good.

Since I often write and read, I miss in most hotels a reading lamp above the desk, also in Astoria.

-Hotel was clean -Room was quiet (311 which although backs onto a road is a very minor one) and air conditioning/double glazed windows helped reduce noise from outside. -Location was excellent, practically right next to the beach, with lots of facilities close by

- Poor customer service - we sent a message via booking.com when we booked to ask them to provide two essential and very common and cheap to buy food items for us, but they totally ignored the message, didn't provide anything we asked for, and despite asking several different members of staff several times they all continued to give us lots of excuses after we had got there as to why they couldn't get them. Later we found out that we could get these in a supermarket that is literally one minute walk away from the hotel, so it appeared that they just couldn't be bothered. This is not the service that one would expect of a three star hotel, especially when we were staying there for a week. -Poor breakfast atmosphere and food quality - the atmosphere around breakfast was akin to a transport cafe with lots of clattering around of plates, rushing around and a generally noisy environment and the food quality was generally poor - there were very few healthy options and most of the cooked food was covered in far too much grease and was not hot enough. -Not sure where it was coming from, possibly the toilet, but we noticed a strange smell when entering the room on several days. This could be due to poor ventilation in the bathroom. We didn't raise it with the staff as we felt this was a minor issue.

When I got to the desk, they said the room would be ready in 30 minutes. It took over 2 1/2 hours to get into my room, after traveling all day. Very poor sound proofing between walls, did not get any sleep. They do not abide by their own change/cancellation policy. Buyer beware on this one!

Nice reception and roof with pool.

Our window was facing an inside court that was covered with a roof, also the air con from the kitchen was blowing air into that court. Hence no fresh air or light when opening window, was smelly and depressing. Breakfast finished at 10 – I missed it as I went for a morning run. For this price they could have kept it open later.

Every thing was very good except the location. Very helpfull and friendly staff at reception and restarrant. Friendly housekeeping staff. I did like it so much thet i did ask for a prolongation but the hotel was full for holidays. Congratulations aswell for the many opportunities at the 5th.

very close to the beach and 1o minutes from the main bus tation so as to visit all around the island. the room was very nice but no view as it was single>the food was excellent >breakfast and dinner >perfect choice.

Nothing really

Good location,closed to beach and main streets. Really good breakfast, plenty of choice. the most i liked about this hotel is 5th floor(top garden). Regarding price couldn't expect more than that.I liked it

The bad thing about the hotel is probably internet. it's slow

The whole pakage was very good extermely pleased with the way we were made to feel welcomed.

Nice building, great location, nice rooms, lovely breakfast.

The room obviously had people smoking in it previously, but instead of cleaning the room properly it smelled as though the cleaning crew poured a bottle of cologne all around the room. We also found a sandwich, molding, with a week-old news paper in one of the drawers. There was also no soap in the room and the glasses, wrapped in plastic to prove they are clean, were disgusting. It looked as though there was still toothpaste in them. When informing the front counter about our problems they didn't do anything, not even offer an apology for the state of the room. We were highly disappointed.
