Astoria  

I travelled to Barcelona with my boyfriend at the end of July. We had a very pleasant stay at Astoria, in fact, better than we expected from a 3* hotel. It was very clean, the rooms were light and spacious, the staff were very approacheable and helpful. The hotel is in a great area, safe, with Diagonal (one of the main roads in Barcelona) being a 2 minute walk away from the hotel. There are plenty of cafes and bars around and some nightclubs closeby for those wanting to party hard (but far enough for the hotel customers not to hear the noise). We mostly walked everywhere, as it's all relatively close, but for those wanting to jump on the metro, it is a less than 5 mins walk away, and there are buses going up and down the Diagonal. Overall we really enjoyed our stay and would stay there again if we are to visit Barca once more. Ps, Cafe Paris in Calle Paris does great little tapas!

Room very basic but very clean. Nice small rest area on the roof caught the sun nicely. Local restaurants very good and reasonably priced.

My outlook was a blank wall and sounds were amplified and at times annoying.

Heat/AC didn't work well, room was either too hot or too cold. Wish we could have free internet for more than 1 hour per day

I particularly liked that it was in a great location, very easy to reach and very convenient for your buses and getting around town. When we arrived, around 10 am, the room was ready, clean and we had a special offer for breakfast. I do recommend breakfast as it was very tasty and varied enough. I will appreciate a good salad, decent coffee and bread with tomatoes anytime. Very good eating places too, within 10 min walk. We had our room facing the street, which does get noisy, but the alternative is a window towards an inside shaft so this was far better. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful, they do speak English and they helped us with printing our boarding passes for the next day and also kept our luggage until we left for the airport so that we could enjoy the city some more. All in all, great for a weekend!

The pillows were uncomfortable, but the bed is ok, so no worry at all.

Great location. Staffs are helpful. Room facilities are quite new and very clean.

The only disappointment is our missing postcard! We stayed during period of Dec 4-7 and gave our postcards to frontdesk to help us mail out as we are leaving Barcelona early and not sure if we will see a mailbox on our way to rail station. However, the staffs did not mail them till Dec 10. And as a matter of fact, none of the postcards ever reached any of our friend till now (Jan 4 2012)...There is possible delay caused by busy workload at post office due to holiday seasons. But if not...it is really a big disappointment as we have written quite many postcards with our blessings to our friends and they are still waiting for them...:(

This is my 2nd time at Astoria, where offers warm services and cozy environment. I appreciate tmost staff speaks fairly good English and always with a smiling face. I came for business and checkin at so-called 4-star hotel for 5 nights, which disappointed me a lot. Next Nov I will return and will recommend Astoria to other business associates, who are mostly in the hospitality industry.

Great location, decent (though not exceptional) value, nice breakfast and a decent room.

The best hotel from all perspectives: Location (it's close to all important destinations -La Rambla, Metro stations, Sagrada Familia, Camp Nou), value for money, staff are very helpful -esp. Senor Manuel. I will definitely stay there in my next visit. Strongly recommended for all types of travelers.

No Negative feedback. However, the only setback is wireless -not available in rooms- you must pay for it.

'Grand european' style interior. Nice staff. 'Superior' room of a fine size with view of street.

Price of room was high enough. Price of breakfast crazy! Go to a cafe.

Very good location if you like walking.The hotel is 3-4 streets to the Diagonal Metro Station / Sortida (Exit) Provença. But you have to walk a bit to get that exit inside the metro station. Rooms are clean, good furnished. Lcd TV's and minibar is cool. Overall quite well city hotel for the price.

Some of the staff does not know English especially in the night receptionists. And if you want to go back to the hotel after 02:00 AM, you have to knock the door so hard when a receptionist can hear you.The pool is really small can only handle 3-4 people at the same time.

Would have liked to have tea/coffee making facility in the rooms. With two kids, and being the summer, one of our main factors was to have a pool, but this was very small, about 10 feet by 12 feet. You could soak and cool off, and there was room for about a dozen people to sunbathe or sit, but not a kid-friendly kind of a thing. Breakfast was 14euro pp.

It was very near to touristic attraction, t the same time, the hotel was on a quite silent environment.

There is a small swimming pool on the roof, but it is really too small.
