I liked very friendly staff( gave me extra blanket, explained aircon working system, spoke good english).frankly, I was surprised very much by a cleanness and cosy room for this price, hot shower, hairdryer and etc.i didn't expect much but feedback about this hotel helped much to make a right choice!!! Prado museum and Thesen are 5 mins by walk! Supermarket- 3 mins. Metro 5 mins. Taxi to airport is 12-15 mins on Saturday noon!!!great place- I definetely stay here again. And by the way many people complain in other hostels about noise outside in the corridor ( well, I stated in 4 stars hotel in Madrid earlier and tell you, noise is still the same everewhere:)) I slept in Astoria better than at home:)no noise. And the last: the hostel is on the 5th floor with an elevator! Perfect. Thank you, Astoria Guys!!!
Location is ideal for getting around madrid, rooms very clean and tidy and despite being in central madrid excellent nights sleep.
No complaints at all
Very friendly and multilingual staff, very helpful, very clean, comfortable, perfect location close to public transport, many restaurants and the world famous art galleries
nothing, I would go back any day!
The walls are paper thin, you can hear people in the roomx next door, and the doorbell rings all night long. At times something banged for hours. (I was at the hotel for several nights). I wouldn't stay there again.
It was a bit cold
Location, safe clean and quiet.
1.very good location 2. Quiet room with a small balcony 3. Wifi connection is good , password is too long :-) 4. Delicious and cheap restaurant is nearby
Hostal Astoria is right in the midst of a vibrant area of Madrid - there are great places to eat, lively plazas, and good shopping. It is alsonin walking distance to several landmarks. We found the staff friendly and very helpful.
Our room was quite small but it was comfortable
Well, we got what we expected , first of all. Nice and friendly staff, with fluent english, best possible location in Madrid, and we spent ridiculously low amount of money for that. I would recommend it , overall !
Rooms are small and very old. Noise is acceptable, since you are on 5th floor. Everything besides bathroom is very very old and worn out. If you intend to spend lot time in the room, this is not the place for you, since there is no real comfort. But for visiting Madrid for about 5 days, excelent choice !
i didn't expect the hotel has so many rooms inside, little disappointed at my room, really small and felt pressure. The location is close to Sevilla metro but had difficulty to identify it as there is no big sign to guild the guests
The wifi is really bad I can rarely access to Internet even though it appeared to be connected. I have to go to reception area once I want to surf online.
very good location to explore the city from, room has its own bathroom, very clean and friendly
nothing to complain about
Central location, staff
location is great, near Plaza de Sol, and easy to go everywhere on foot, Metro only 5 min away. Staff was friendly, offered to upgrade our room for free, but we were tired and didn't want to wait for another hour, so chose a little room at the end of the hallway...mistake...However saw the other room along the hallway, much bigger and nicer, so no worries...wifi great, quiet at night for sleep.
toilet too small in our room, facilities a little bit old-dated and not really clean.
Very clean and quiet. The shower had hot water and there were sufficient outlets. Very nice staff and awesome location.
the style of the room and the terrace
We stayed here for 4 nights and i think its no value for money. Apart from being at a good location, this resort has nothing. The pool is very small, and no part seen at there beach. Charges for LOCKER (SAFE) in room. charges for wifi. charges for eveerything
We booked one room for 3 persons travelling with a teenager. We selected this Hostal because it is centrally located (3minutes walking from "Puerta del Sol, 5 minutes from Plaza Mayor). We initially booked a triple room. When we arrived, the attendant at front desk offered us to have 2 rooms instead of one (1 double + 1 single) for the same price than the triple room. We, of course, accepted the offer. Both rooms were air-conditioned, very clean, with a TV set. Bathroom was clean as well. The hostal is on 5th floor with elevator. It is possible to find any kind of restaurant in the immediate neighborhood for just some euros. Front desk was very helpful providing us map and all advices we may need to make our stay as pleasant as possible (stop for open deck buses, opening time of museums). We highly recommend this Hostal.
The only minus I could notice is that the window of our room was straight at the lift shaft.
I'd worried a bit about my choice of hotel, because I could see no trace of it when looking at "Street View" on Gooogle Maps. But Hostal Astoria is ideally placed, with an exceptionally discreet entrance on Carrera de San Jeronimo, 5 minutes walk from the Prado, 2 minutes from Puerta del Sol, and with numerous cafes and bars nearby. The hotel had everything I needed, including a computer + printer for guests' use (boarding pass!), and a weighing machine to check hand luggage limits (Ryan Air!). My room was small, but the Air / Con and TV both worked well and the little bathroom was perfectly adequate. Hard to beat at the price, if you just need a room for a few nights - or a week!
The location was more than central, we didn't use the metro at all since we enjoy walking around. Prado museum is 5minutes away by feet. Excellent cleaning and the rooms are functionable.
The WiFi is fast from the mobile but from the desktop they have that you can use it isn't so fast.
After traveling around Europe for over a month we were so pleasantly surprised by the Astoria! It was beautiful, a the location was perfect!
I have stayed at hostal Astoria a few times. Always a good option for central Madrid. Very helpful and pleasant staff.
Excellent location. Good price
room next to the reception was a bit noisy.
wifi did not work on the 4th floor
