Located 320 yards from Madrid’s Puerta del Sol and Plaza Mayor Square, Hotel Cortezo has a rooftop terrace overlooking the city. This chic hotel has a 24-hour front desk and free Wi-Fi.
Score from 2146 reviews Very good
The Hotel II Castillas has an ideal central location, just 330 yards from Madrid's Puerta del Sol district. It has a traditional Spanish restaurant and free Wi-Fi access throughout.
Score from 1212 reviews Excellent
This hotel is centrally located beside Madrid’s Puerta del Sol Square. Plaza Mayor is 165 yards away. All air-conditioned rooms have satellite TV and free Wi-Fi .
Score from 770 reviews Very good
poor selection, and almost nothing close to the closing hour
4th floor rooms have a slanted roof. Be careful you don't hit your head.
The hotel is a 10 min walk to the Prado and to the palace. Wifi and air conditioning worked great and the receptionist was wonderful.
The restaurant was horrible DO NOT EAT THERE. The noise from the street was very loud I had to sleep with headphones and I could still hear the street noise.
location close to the metro very close to the city
the usual city noise breakfast starts at 7:30am
Very helpful, multi-lingual staff and of course the location very central-- less than 5minutes' walk to Puerta del Sol, Gran Via and their Metros. The rooms were clean and so were the bathrooms; wifi in the room and a common room with a computer with a printer, useful for printing online epasses; and for shoppers travelling by air, a weighing scale to check your allowable baggage allowance.
Pricey breakfast, breads and pastries could have been more fresh.
The location is at the heart of Madrid, so you don't need public transport to get to the most popular places of attraction. The staff was polite, spoke English well, helped us to orientate ourselves in the location, and advised us the best wat to get to the railway station aftter check-out.
Bad sound proofing, so you can hear what is happening in the room number and in the corridor. The jalousie was broken so it was impossible to open it and see the sunshine. Maybe it was made on purpose; the view from the window was only to another windows not far from our ('square' type of building).
Friendly. Helpful staff and perfect location
A lot of outside noise at night
It is more like nothing to Dislike. A discret and very Attentive staff. Gracias
Location close to Puerta del Sol. Welcoming staff.
Staff were friendly and helpful
Area was noisy at night
Staff and location to key Madrid sites and shopping
Very noisy street ... Activity until 300 am weeknights and 500 am weekends
the location of this hotel is perfect
My husband and I have stayed in hotels all over the world and have never been treated better any where. The staff was excellent, courteous, knowledgeable, cheerful. Though the room was small, it was beautiful and modern, with every amenity needed. Our room had a French balcony looking out onto a quiet street, where my husband and I had a night cap every night. The hotels location puts you in the heart of the Puerta del Sol activities. There was a decent restaurant to one side and a mini mart to the other. We have been to Madrid many times and on all of our next stays we will stay at Ateneo Hotel.
Not a single negative to Ateneo Hotel
Location is excellent. Only two blocks from Puerta del Sol. Easy to reach from airport by train, with one transfer. Hotel on a main pedestrian street.
Room is very small for one person. For two people it would be extremely small. The balcony is not large enough to hold a chair; you can barely stand on the balcony. Main problem was the bed was very hard, like sleeping on concrete. Room was not very clean, hairs in the bathroom, etc.
Very quiet with the windows closed. Lovely view from the room.
Since we were from U.S.A., we were used to have regular coffee available in the morning.. That is part of the night's charge & is free.
Location very central and staff very helpful. Booked us into good flamenco show. Restaurant under hotel good for breakfast and meals.
Street noise significant all night so ask for room not to street if needing good sleep.
Central, short walk to Grand Via or Plaza Mayor.
Working girls standing on the street in the morning.
Paying a euro to use the safe
Some delay during start of breakfast time, not tragic like 5 minutes
the noise by night of people going by
Marvellous position, good breakfast with espresso coffee prepared by an automatic machine which grinded the coffe just in time (and not that ugly american coffee prepared in most hotels). Good juice done with spanish oranges squeezed. Internet available and effective without troubles. Receptionists nice and prepared which spoke many languages.
The Room and the bath were too much small, without shelves where to put bath things and a narrow sink: unconfortable, there seemed to be in a London room... with a London price. It's a pity because with some little changes the bath could be more confortable. Cleaning of the bath and towels faulted in the last day. Calle Montera is a noisy street (due to hollering pepople) and windows were not sufficiently insulated. Anyway, all of the previous issues could be acceptable with a lower price.
