Wasnt far from centre of town not bad access to bus and underground which can take you everywhere .We always had a nice walk down the beach to Olympic where there are nice selection of restaurants at reasonable prices. Hotel seems to be mainly based around business but for the price, well worth it.Watch out for the joggers, bikes and rollerbladers along the beach Could do with having Tea and Coffee making facilities in room.

Close to beach, hotel was very clean and room was cleaned every day. Too far out of the centre of the city, nearest metro (Selva de Mar) is at least 15 minutes walk, there is a bus stop 2 mins down the street but it talks half an hour to get to Catalunya (city centre). Not a great selection of food on the menu (don't order the pizza, it's more like an omlette!) Wouldn't recommend it to families with small children or young couples

The location of the hotel was fantastic! Right next to the beach. The staffs of the reception were really helpful and they could speak good English. The hotel rooms we ordered were able to see the beach, and the facilities in them were pretty nice and brand new! The price was a little bit high for bag packers, but it was valuable. However, I do suggest the hotel to change their hair dryers, they were not effective to use which took us girls a long while to dry our hair.

- Very nice hotel - Very close to the sea (just a few minutes walk) - Very clean We booked a room without breakfast, so can't say anything about food, but there are a few nice restaurants near the hotel where we had breakfast, lunch and dinner. - It's not that we didn't like it as wanted a hotel close to the sea, but it was a bit far from the center of the city (about 35 min by bus to Catalunya or 15 minutes walk to Poblenou metro station). - was quite cold in the room and heating didn't work or maybe we couldn't understand how it worked :))

Nice and clean rooms with a nice view to the sea. A great hotel for the summer but not so good in the winter since it is very far from the city center. The staff was overall nice friendly and helpful, although there was one ass. Very comfortable beds although it was split in half in the middle, nice shower and bathroom. Far from the city center and a pretty long walk from a metro station.

The staff were as helpful as they could be and very welcoming. Room 803 was tiny, breakfast was just ok, we could not use the car park as head room was restricted this cause me a great deal of concern as parking was a priority. Do wish it had said on the hotel discription = head room 2.3 m, Not high enough for Land Rover disc with roof box.

The hotel is located by the sea side and the hotel room facing the sea provided great view. The room was ok but well equipped and clean. The breakfast was just OK for the price of 10 euro. But then, you can't expect more as its same in every big city in Europe. The metro station Poble Nue/ Selva De Mar on line 4 (yellow line is 15 minutes walk and good for those, who like to walk. The huge shopping mall Diagnoal Mar is also about 7 minutes walk and great for shoppers, as it provides variety of options in terms of price and options. There are good options to eat within 5-10 minutes of walk around the hotel, which is good, but prices of the the eatery may vary depending on the restaurant. The hotel as a tie up with a car rental company and it's relatively cheaper to rent directly from the hotel and they drop the car in the hotel if you decide to rent from the hotel. The sea facing rooms provide free wi-fi in the hotel including the room which is a big plus. Overall, it was a good experience The only concerning point was the room facing the sea used to feel slightly hot in the day.

I liked the location opposite the beach when I booked the room. I also found the price good and we were upgraded to a superior room on arrival. The hotel was only 10 minutes walk from the Metro stop Poblenou. The room we had faced the beach and the weather was very warm for February but we were unable to have the air conditioning on cool. This meant we had to sleep with the window open and it was extremely noisy. We complained about the heat of the room but the reception staff said that there was nothing they could do except tell us to turn the air conditioning off as it was on heat for the winter period. The hotel is opposite the beach but next to a main road that has traffic running day and night. Rooms at the back of the hotel facing the direction of the city may be not so noisy.

Very good location in a quiet and clean area by the beaches. The number 41 bus stops by the hotel direct from Plaza Catalyuna. Metro station 10 mins away. The staff are super helpful, printed off flight bookings, gave directions to everything we wanted to know and were happy to do so. Pizza Mar Bella next door is awesome. Not a major complaint but not tea or coffee making facilities in the room, an English thing I guess!

This is my second time to stay with Barcelo hotel atenea mar. This is the best hotel I had even in My life. Such friendly hotel staff and very helpful. This time, I checked out in the morning and left my luggage at reception, because I still wanted visit to the city with my cousin and planed to go to Sellive afternoon by air, and pick up the luggage by the way. However, we haven't got enough time go back to hotel. Then, I called the reception and told him that I had to pick up the luggage after 3 days.... The staff was very friendly and absolutely agreed. Really thanks for them help. This even make me enjoy my trip much more. I think I will choose it again if I go to Bacellona.

The room was modern, large and very comfortable, except for the heating issue - see below. We chose the Hotel out of concerns for safety in parts of central Barcelona, and for its reasonable cost. It is surrounded by business and residential buildings, with a linear park between it and the sea that is suitable for walking, running, bicycling and skating. The area is clean, uncrowded and very safe. The location is convenient for walking to the Diagonal Mall. The No. 41 bus to and from downtown stops next to the hotel and takes you to Placa Catalunya. With the t10 bus pass it costs less than 1 Euro per trip on the bus, and you can transfer to other lines, including the Metro, at no additional cost. However it takes 15 to 25 minutes per trip. We stayed in a room facing the sea. It was too hot. The heat could not be turned off, and ac was turned off for the winter. The sun reflecting off the water added further to the temperature. We kept the opaque curtains closed, which excluded the heat but also the view. We needed to leave the window open to keep the room cool. That let in excessive street noise from traffic on the recessed highway out front. If we stayed there again, we would insist on a room facing the back of the Hotel. There was a very limited choice of restaurants and shopping close by, unless you walked 10 minutes, or took the bus, to the Diagonal Mall. The restaurant and bar in the Hotel were good, but a bit limited. It takes 15 to 25 minutes per trip by bus to get to or from central Barcelona.

Barcelona is very well served of touristic buses, and Barceló Atenea is close to two of the main "lines": green and red. The green line works only until September, but walking 10 minutes you will reach the red line. This makes Barceló Atenea Mar perfect because of its location, and that's what I really loved on it. It's in front of the beach, there are some stores nearby (and a shopping center too) and the touristic buses take you anywhere in the city. Simply fantastic! Wireless internet is not really for free, and it is kind of hard to configure.

We travelled to Barcelona to compete in the triathlon and chose the hotel because it was less than 100m from the venue at Nova Mar Bella beach. We had gorgeous views of the beach from our room and enjoyed then hotel jacuzzi post race to ease our muscles! A short walk gets you to Rambla de Poblenou where there are loads of delicious restaurants at very reasonable prices. The area is also perfect for walking, cycling or skating. The room was spacious and clean with a beautiful bathroom. The staff were very tolerant of our very limited Spanish, the reception and waiting staff spoke perfect English! Breakfast wasn't included and was quite pricey if we wanted to add it to the booking. We had lunch at the terrace cafe after the triathlon and the kitchen didn't cope with the extra numbers of people very well at all - we waited an hour for our food...

The internet connection and the Gym facilities. I had asked for sea view while booking but they did not upgrade me to higher rooms with sea view despite the rooms were vacants. The hotel charge Euro 10 for Superior room and Euro 20 forso called Luxary rooms. I think this is an over commericalization of the property.
