Pool, staff, ease of parking and cleanliness all very good. Rooms are ok and beds very comfortable. Rooms and access to rooms for wheelchairs is good. Room cleaning service was great and general levels of service from staff was very good - all friendly and helpful. No problem if you don't speak much Spanish.
No level access for gym or spa. Modern hotel claiming to be disabled friendly but they didnt bother with the spa and gym and it has several flights of stairs down. Access to pool from the room requires a hike as no ramps outside - despite being 10 metres from the pool you need to circumnavigate the hotel to get there as they havent bothered with a ramp - why? Remote and nothing around there bar the resort hotel - surroundings look very run down.
An upgrade was made and we stayed on a 2 bedroom/2 bathroom suite with a balcony and jacuzzi. Excellent breakfast and buffet diner.
The jacuzzi wasn't very clean. We have a 1 one year old baby and they gave us a room which access was made by stairs (but the room was so good that we didn't complain). Also the crib wasn't ready upon arrival.
The waiters were really friendly, great service.
Use the unerground parking, as the trees although provide shade, also loose a lot of yellow flowers, and they are very sticky and messy.
I liked that it was very quiet and peaceful. The buffet spread was very good too.
The double beds are usually two singles put side by side. We were three couples and the three of us had to change rooms to ones without a view because 99% of the rooms are two singles put side by side. I even asked "son camas dobles no, no son dos puestas juntas?" (are they double beds yes, not two put together) and he answered that they were doubles when they were clearly not. The buffet hours are short, and the hotel is in the middle of a ghost town.
The relaxation in the hotel was lovely ...food was good with a lot of choice ...staff were helpful at all times. And golf was great.
The bath in the rooms should be a bit more non slip as what you have isn't good once wet and soapy it's easy to slip...I did. Some people in the spa just would not keep noise down it is supposed to be a relaxation ..also a child was allowed in and played in pools shouting ..very unsafe for a child.
The view from the balcony overlooking the golf course was relaxing. The landscaped was well maintained and the hotel staff very mostly all multi- lingual. They were friendly and warmly offered to call for a taxi.
The interior of the building was not kept up as good as the exterior. Inside the room, the bathroom seemed isolated from the rest because it was the only area that seemed completely renovated. The Air Conditioning did not work! I called the Hotel staff to report this and they sent a maintenance person with a thermometer who attempted to inform me that 74 degrees coming from the circulation vent was normal. Needless to say that after taking a shower and trying the get the barely working refrigerator to cool (it was putting out an excessive amount of heat) My room never got lower than 82 degrees. Couple that to the fact that I had to fold my pillow three times over to get semi- decent support, I had a very restless night. The Wi-Fi did not work from my room, I also called the front desk about this issue and was told that I would have to come to the reception/lobby area to connect. A group of friends and myself had no problem connecting from their room which was just one floor up and 4 rooms away from mine, in the Opposite direction of the lobby. I was extremely dissatisfied with my stay at the Costa Ballena. I had stayed at the Asta Regia in Jerez for two nights a day prior to going to the Costa Ballena, I only switched locations to fellowship with friends. The Asta Regia was much more comfortable and cost less per night, a better value for my money. I would not recommend anyone to stay at the Costa Ballena, I feel it was an extreme waste of hard earned money.
