Barceló Hotel Sants  

Our room on the 7th floor had spectacular views of the city. The room was modern and spotless. Our evening flight to Barca was cancelled. I called the hotel as we were concerned our accommodation for the remainder 3 days might be cancelled. The receptionest said no problem our accommodation was available. I was pleasantly surprised on checking out to see we had not been charged for the 1st night despite the last minute call. I had not even mentioned it as I assumed I would be charged. A really nice gesture!

The room was very clean and modern. The hotel is situated on top of the main train station and a very active subway (Metro) station, it was absolutely easy to travel from and to the hotel.

The room does not have a terrace and the windows do not open. It was impossible to smoke inside the hotel, unlike what was mentioned when we booked the room. I got to choose a smoking room but turns out that smoking in the hotel is absolutely forbidden.

convenient location for arriving by bus and airport transportation, space set up would be interesting to teens and younger people

walked around entire inside of sants station without seeing sign for entrance, had to ask 2 people. difficult to figure out how to close shades, navigate tv, call reception for wake up call because no written instructions. only hotel in 2 weeks stay without free computer use,unable to check flight information. breakfast buffet expensive, did not have time to try

The rooms were clean and fresh there was no odour coming from the beds, duvet and pillows were like new, loved the choice of pillows. Excellent lighting, wonderful view. The staff were very friendly and helpful especially Ahmed in the restaurant.Generally the hotel theme was very stunning/eye catching. They are very child friendly I took my 4 year old boy and children that age can be a bit challenging but the staff simply loved him. Room was cleaned daily and topped up on towels and toiletries. Room service excellent.

The only downfall was the bathroom it wasn't separate from the sleeping area, more of an open plan and not very private, although there was a door to the toilet it wasn't very sound proof, a bit awkward if your sharing with a friend or colleague, but fine if your with your partner. The bathroom was still very clean and wonderfully bright.

Very clean . Technology in the room. The station dwwn the hotel which has all you want as cofe shops , resturants and pharmacy.

The gym not free , you should pay 10 euro . The parking 25 euro per a day .

Nice staff, special thanks to Sarah who printed me out my train ticket without which it would be impossible to enter the station. I came to see the semi-final of the Champion League, so I enjoyed the location - within walking distance to the Stadium, just above the train and metro stations - it was convinient to go to Madrid after the match.

Design: very good lighting, with an excellent option for reading or just for relaxing. The spaceship theme is well represented.

The location is unbeatable being right over the central station. I ended up making far more use of the McDonalds in that station than I intended, but I had some crazy hours and meetings and for a quick bite to keep me going it was very useful, especially as something hot, even if a burger, is much better than sandwiches all day. This hotel was good value compared to others of a similar calibre in Barcelona, being about a third cheaper for a very similar quality. The hotel is very efficiently run, though some of the staff are too focused on their work than customer service as a result. For example, they're very keen to clear away tables at breakfast and prepare them for lunch which makes it hard to enjoy breakfast as you feel you're in their way (which you are). Shower is one of those rain things and is very good. I ended up being late due to that shower. Breakfast is good for Spain. From the buffet you can make yourself something approaching an English breakfast if you really want to. Cereal is terrible though, but that's typical for Spain. Pretty good hotel. Definitely appropriate for business visitors in particular, though all sorts of people appeared to stay.

The theme of space travel is very pretentious and it is laid on thick everywhere in spades. You get that stupid pretentiousness a lot in hotels in Spain and Ireland, must be a housing boom thing. However, unlike a lot of Irish hotels full of stupid baubles, this one is very efficiently run. You do get quite a lot of gruff service, and it's very impersonal and cold, but no one could fault them for efficiency. The experience reminds you *strongly* of staying in hotels in Germany. The restaurant is similarly pretentious, and of middling quality for Spain but that is excellent compared to most Western countries. They had a €30 set menu which I found very good for the price given its location and they did not spare the wine which was Catalan and quite different. I have eaten far better for much less in Spain, but not in a hotel and not in a major capital. All in all, a well executed machine. But just that, a machine. Its location makes up for that in spades though.

Great hotel, very friendly and helpful staff, beautiful and comfortable rooms, and very convenient location if you are arriving/leaving by train. Outstanding place to stay.

This is pretty much a pure "travelers" hotel, someplace you stay en route to someplace else, since it is attached directly to Barcelona's major train station. Nonetheless, you will not soon forget your stay there - the design is over the top, unforgettable. They take the theme "2001 - A Space Odyssey" and run - wild - with it. The rooms, the corridors, the lobby and lounges, even the elevators express that theme in a delightful and witty design. The room design is close to perfect, in an ultra-modern, high-tech, clean and streamlined manner. We stayed one night, en route, and loved it. The staff and services were professional and efficient and everything was spotless.

Although the entrance on arrival by cab or car is very nice, to access the hotel from the station level requires taking one of two tiny elevators (and one seems permanently out of order) up to the lobby. There is barely room for two people and two suitcases in the elevator.
