The staff in the hotel are mostly excellent, from the effervescent Pancho who always acknowledges you as you go out, and admires your purchases when you return.Through reception, and on to Mario and Co. On the terrace who always have time to say hello and welcome you. For the staff and location we will be going back. The Claris suffers from the Barcelona disease over trendy, over designed, where " style " not comfort and function prevails.

Very comfortable and well-appointed Junior Suite. Extemely pleasant roof terrace bar, pool and sitting/lounging area. Claris is in a very good position for exploring Barcelona - tube and city bus only a few minutes' walk away. Ordering cocktails from the roof terrace was a consistently slow experience, though everything else was very good indeed!

Close to major attractions such as La Pedrera, Casa gotic. Great little tapas restaurants and the hotels rooftop bar and restaurant. Breakfast also very good. The pre-authorization against your credit card can take up to 7 days to release, even when you have paid the hotel bill. Make sure you have plenty of credit on your credit card otherwise you could be caught out.

Location and vanishing glamour. Some disappointment actually. We were attracted by the art collection which is Ok but small. Probably we haven't got the best room. You are expecting in a 5 stars hotel something more sizeable. Time has passed over the facilities and the bed was far from ideal; it better compares with a Japanese tatami. Breakfast's prices are clearly overcharged.

Location is good just off Passeig de Gracia - near the good shops/restaurants. Staff excellent - very friendly and accommodating. Bathroom - tired, and enamel coming off bath - plus dirty grout around tiles. Not 5 star quality by any means!

Location was convenient. The emperor has no clothes. Although it has a 5 star reputation and promised a lot, Claris Hotel delivered very little and was a huge disappointment. This was the only hotel experience of our 5 week trip in which front desk staff were not warm, friendly or helpful. Despite the facade of being a former castle with luxurious soundproofed rooms, the interior was quite noisy and 1980s modern. Although the exterior walls kept out most street noise, the interior walls and ceiling seemed to be made of cardboard. Maid service was especially loud and woke us up each day. The hotel also promised us a non smoking room and various amenities, such as free wi fi, sauna and gym; the reality was another story. Staff told me there was no free wi fi, and when I questioned, I was told we could have 15 minutes for free on one device, but that the connection was too weak for skype or searching the internet. (It was indeed too weak.) Otherwise I could pay an additional 15 euro per day. The sauna was not turned on, required at least an hour to warm up, and did not have a stove or hot rocks, water or light. The shower for the pool area and mini gym lacked a working hot water spigot (it was broken). Our "non-smoking" room seemed to be only "non-smoking" when the ashtrays were removed. When we arrived, the window was open and the room smelled strongly of smoke. Later, the window was locked tight, unable to be opened, and the room still smelled of smoke. Five star??? Perhaps two.

The location was very good, convenient to the main shopping areas and the metro stops. The design and architecture of the hotel was beautiful. The room was decorated beautifully. Initially we were given a standard room although we had booked an executive room. The reception staff gave a flimsy excuse for this and changed us. The pictures on the website are quite misleading and the rooms are, although beautifully decorated, not as large or luxurious as one would be led to believe. Facilities are greatly lacking including no tea or coffee in the rooms. For a 5 star hotel I found this odd. At the time of booking it was not specified that both the rooftop terrace bar & rooftop pool would be closed until summer months. The gym is quite poorly equiped however the view is excellent. The staff were not particularly friendly on reception in light if our room change perhaps and showed little interest in directing us to the nou camp in order to collect match tickets. Also there was little or no desire to provide us with the complimentary smart car they advertise as being available during your stay.

We liked the rooftop bar & restaurant, the lobby and glass lift, the breakfast and the charming doorman. Also the restaurant across the street Josephine is wonderful. The hotel rooms are overpriced and dark. Especially considering how bright and airy the rest of the hotel is.

This hotel does not live up to five star as it is rated. As long as you don´t expect this it is ok. The common areas are not welcoming. The room is ok but not more. Rooms into interior "garden" are clastrophobic.

Lack of internal facilities I.E. no staff on terrace other than lunchtime and evening, therefore unable to get a drink or coffee whilst sitting by the pool or relaxing in the sun. This may have been due to the time of year but as the weather was good and the facilities where there for serving lunch we found it quite odd. At one point there was 12 people sitting around the terrace (approx 11 A.M.) all looking to get a drink.

Good hotel with excellent location. Also very easy to find taxis. The only downside was a slight lack of light in the rooms, but if like me, you leave in the morning and come back at night, you can almost ignore this issue. As there was a major trade fare, the prices were inflated, but overall a good experience and friendly staff.

Location was great, just off the main shopping street. Not very far from the city centre. Very welcoming staff, especially the concierge lady Biliana, she was amazing and very helpful. She was considerate enough to walk with us to the nearest ATM machine to help us buy FC Barcelona match tickets! Beds were a bit on the stiff side and not comfy. Also the blankets where very thin and did not keep us warm enough at night -I prefer comforters. Also, no box of tissues in the room!!! There was only a tiny pack with the vanity set near the sink!!!
