Grand Hotel Central  

The family suite was spacious and cool, the beds comfortable and the bathroom facilities good - an enormous walk-in shower! The views from the roof-top pool were fantastic, we liked the relaxed atmosphere and the chill-out music. The hotel is conveniently located and they provided us with a very useful pocket-sized map of the central area.

When we checked in their record of our booking suggested it was without breakfast, but this was corrected when I showed them the print-out. We had booked for a family of 2 adults and 2 children, however the room was only made up for 3 people. We were given an extra pillow and towel, but only 3 towels and muffin/chocolate treats on subsequent days. Some of the staff were unfriendly, particularly at the roof top bar, where the drinks were very expensive. This was the only bar, a pity as we would have liked to have a drink in the lounge area on the ground floor. The lighting in the bedroom was poor, the suite only had one small window. As the bathroom didn't have a door, the bright light there disturbed the rest of the familiy when used during the night.

The only think I like its the location. Believed me nothing else....

The gym is very poor. I booked the hotel one and half month before for 3 nights for 225 euro and charge me the last two days 275 euro, I was late and I accept it but I will make complain and ask for my money back. I was in the second floor and I could not sleep because I could hear the train every one minute. I could hear the water pams continiously. The breakfast charge was 21 euro each ,is not worth it. I asked for a taxi to take me to the bus station from the hotel and charge me 12 euro while taxi meter wrote 7 euro and I call the hotel because they knew the taxi driver to complain and she told me the extra money was the lagaged and for the sightseen , for god sake I come 2 o clock in the morning and they charged me 6

Staff were very friendly and helpful at all times. Location is perfect for the Gothic Cathedral Area. Room was very clean and comfortable.

1) The location is perfect, truly ideal if you are visiting Barcelona for the first time and wanting to stay close to everything. 2) The hotel staff was very friendly and talked very good English. They helped us a lot with maps and advise for the area 3) The double bed was very nice and comfortable 4) Nice open space pool bar on the terrace but the weather was rainy so we did not use it at all

1) The rooms were quite noisy even though double glassed windows 2) We had booked for a smoking room but the whole hotel had a non smoking policy so we got a non smoking room 3) The toilet seat was not very clean 4) There was no toilet brush!... 5) The toilet did not have a window 6) Not a very organized TV/DVD system. The TV channels were randomly scattered, there was no pay-per-view system, you were supplied with a DVD player but to do what with it? 7) The breakfast costs 21 euros per person per day which it really expensive so we did not even try it 8) The windows in the room were locked and we had to ask the hotel staff to unlock one of them and then re-lock it if we wanted ventilation in our room 9) The air conditioning system was old and did not have heating, only cold air was the option 10) Quite expensive for what it offers at the end

Excellent! If we get back to Barcelona I will book here again without looking at another hotel. The staff was excellent - very helpful with tracking baggage the airline had lost, with restaurant recommendations, help with our 15 month old. The location is excellent - close to shopping, restaurants, metro. We walked to Eixample, Barceloneta, and the Metro is very near for further beyond. And the rooftop lounge/pool tops it all!

It said there was a rooftop bar and pool, both which were closed as it was February. But nowhere on the site did it say it would be closed. It was on of the reasons we chose it as we love to swim, so that was disappointing. Also the bar prices were very expensive, even for a simple coffee, which was 4 times the price of anywhere else in Barcelona

Excellent hotel with good facitlities, as described. Excellent value for money.

Rooms are a little bit noisy

Arrived early by train at 9am at hotel, the staff let us check in right away and not wait till 2 pm. That shower I was able to take made all the difference for a enjoyable day. Will be returning to Barcelona in a few months and will only stay at The Grand Central.

Location is good for sightseeing and shopping.

There are so many interesting hotels in Barcelona but Grand Hotel Central was a disappointment. Superficially the hotel interior looks good but our room was very small and cramped, even by city standards, not particularly comfortable, and full of annoying design flaws. Service at reception was on the brusque side, something you don't really expect at international hotels nowadays.

The Hotel is beautiful! I admire how an old buliding was renovated and updated to become so modern. The staff was excellent and the room was always clean. We really enjoyed the breakfast buffet and the staff at the restaurant was always pleasant.

Unfortunately, our original flight to Barcelona was a day late because of mechanical problems with our Air France flight. My sister emailed the Hotel informing of you of our unexpected delay. We are very disappointed that we were charged for the night we missed on our reservations. That was completely out of our control; we believe we should not be charged for that night. We hope that we can somehow be reimbursed for that missed night. Also, it meant that we missed a day of our holiday in a city we really wanted to visit.
