The Hotel was located in the centre of Madrid and most of the attraction are within easy walking distance for the enthusiastic and an excellent Metro/Bus system for those less keen. Breakfasts were very good and spread put over a good time period to suite the early risers and the long liers. Good facilities very close to the hotel, bars, cages, restaurants, shops. Small lifts which were sometimes not available due to overuse. Rooms were smaller than expected.

The bed was comfortable, if a bit hard, and the bathroom was terrific. The service was attentive and courteous. Great location! The first room they tried to unload on me was little better than a hostel room. The bed was tiny, even for one person, and the room smelled of smoke. After I complained, they gave me the room I stayed in, which was spacious and nice. Also, the "exercise room" needed a lot of improvement. The elevators were diminute.

Nice large room looking on to Gran Via but traffic noise was not too distracting. Free minibar was good but had no wine! Excellent buffet breakfast.

Located 150 meters from Gran Via Subway, very convenient but Madrid is a very small capital, if you like to walk you pretty much can walk the city, parks, museums and other attractions, Gran via is a very Centric location Old Hotel, poor decoration

Location is perfect. Very small rooms even superior room was not more then 10 sq meters. In reality, hotel looks completely different from one on the photos. Old building. Too loud.

Breakfeast it's too expensive for what you get. The staff of this hotel is not very nice for a supposely 4 stars hotel, except the concierge downstairs. I will not recommended this place if you don't get a good price (around 80 euros the night). And the hotel is on renovation right now ( feb. 2012) ... They are working on the outside so you'll get noise starting around 8:30 every morning...

The location was ideal. The "Japanese theme" was not prominent. I almost didn't choose the hotel because who wants to pretend to be in Japan when you're in Madrid? It was a non-issue. Reception was on the 2nd floor - I worried about security since they couldn't observe who was coming in and out of the hotel. But the elevator stops automatically on the 2nd floor going both up and down. Better for security, but a little on the annoying side, if only slightly. Not a reason not to book here. The hours for the fitness room make it almost impossible to use (10am - 9pm). Those are the hours I am out and about, not in a hotel.

It is very central to everything of importance, eg museums, palace, shops. I accept that the exterior was being renovated, and this did not cause any problems. But, I think the interior of the hotel needs to be renovated. The carpets in the corridors are appalling; the interior needs decorating. The sound conditioning is as bad as can be imagined between rooms. I was able to hear conversations, hear their occupants showering with the noise of flowing water.

The staff were friendly and helpful. The bath tubs. The building itself is not so friendly - the hotel room I had had views over inner courtyard of concrete and pipes, the reception is not on the ground floor but up to the second floor, and the rooms are pretty small. I could not help but feel that they needed to redecorate the adjoining corridors/lifts (very small) as the carpet looked quite old and all of this gave me not so great a first impression. I was also a little concerned that anyone from the street could access the room floors as reception not on ground floor but perhaps they were monitoring this by camera or door-man that I was not aware of.

- The location is the best possible: in the center of the Gran Via and in the center of Madrid main attractions. - The room and bathroom were very comfortable, with good furniture and spacious. - The building is under renovation (all around it), so you have construction workers in front of your window and you have to close the curtains all the time... And you can't view the street. It is claustrophobic. - The WiFi in the rooms didn't work proprebly: always with technical problems.

We like the location and the small elevator! The first night we were given a room that was very loud....we next to the elevator and could hear it going up and down, the bell dinging loudly, etc.... We asked for a room change and they changed us to a quieter room.

The staff was very friendly & accomodating when needed. The room was good size for that area. It was located in a great area for shopping & sight-seeing. Hotel was under construction so we didn't get the view we were charged for, we weren't credited for that either. The elevators were small but we managed.

Location was great! Free Wi-Fi!, and easy to get to on public transport. Rooms need urgent renovation!! Airconditioning didn't work and too noisy to open windows as they where working on the outside of the hotel. Carpets and bathrooms look one hundred years old. Reception staff not very friendly. Compared to other hotels the price was fair and location is excellent.
