i have been staying at the Carlos V since 1969 along with my parents and other relatives. Location is BEST. I has been improving with the years.

Some of the young waiters at breakfast were not very attentive.

When I first arrived in everything was neat, the reception staff was outgoing and friendly. The facilities are comfortable, also, it is worthy of every buck it costs, very affordable, finally, it is strategically located in the very center of Madrid, shops, nice restaurants, and cafes are nearby. I recommend it.

Fourth time at the Carlos V - location is perfect for all city centre attractions. Breakfast first class and staff very helpful and professional.

Wifi provision - despite receptionist providing password details unprompted - was hopeless. Could get zero connectivity anywhere including public areas in hotel. No excuse fot this given the widespread access elsewhere in the city.

Great location, in convenient walking distance from key sites such as The Prado, Plaza Mayor, The Royal Palace etc.

Previously visited 8 years ago, and nothing appears to have changed! The hotel felt rather run down and tired, air conditioning (essential), very noisy and adjustment not possible because of broken controls. So the options were off- too hot to sleep well, on - too noisy to sleep well.

The most expensive hotel we booked.

Central location. Room 506 has an excellent balcony with 2 chairs and table plus 2 sun loungers and awning.

Room was small. Person in charge of mini-bar barged into room - on complaining, was told that we hadn't put our key card into the electricity slot so he assumed no-one was there. Definitely not acceptable.

I love the location, very central to everything you would want to do in Madrid.

Breakfast is expensive especially within 100 yards of the hotel you can have a breakfast alfresco for a quarter of the Price. Although I have stayed there a few times they arent good at maintaining records. Twice they have lost a reservation

Lack of parking; lack of a plan for alternate parking; lack of information in listing that the hotel is located in a pedestrian zone and parking is a big challenge. Sign on street is flush to building...we were 40 ft away and on wrong side of street and could not tell where the hotel was located. Warning that 1-2 May are holidays in Madrid & to expect crowds.

Central location-comfortable rooms. Very helpful staff. Easy access to fifth floor. Very good coach to the airport. Quiet room. Very reasonable price.

Water wasn't that hot for baths. The bath itself was difficult to get out of. Otherwise fine.

The hotel is older but it has been maintained and is in good condition. Staff are very friendly and helpful and speak English well. The location is convenient for shopping, dining and access to Madrid's great metro line. You can also walk to some of the major sites such as the palace and the Prado Museum. Breakfast is not included but offered a variety of good food. There is a large, comfortable lounge that is nice to have available instead of trying to relax in the hotel room. The lounge has a balcony and overlooks the street.

The hotel could use a coat of exterior paint. The chair in the room is not comfortable for sitting for long periods.

The staff was friendly and helpful. My daughter's wallet was stolen/lost on the metro on the way from the airport. The front desk clerk was helpful in giving us an international number to call to cancel credit cards and opened our bottle of wine for us (much needed after the incident). We also had a very early flight when leaving and they gave us a prompt wake-up call at 4am and arranged for a cab. The breakfast staff was very friendly and breakfast was good. Good location. Walking distance to attractions we wanted to see.

Our room was small and dark.

Good central location and friendly staff BUT, the decor is so outdated, needs to clean and restore. Bien situé, mais doit etre restoré.

They need to clean and upscale the decor. They charged us one of the 2 room with higher rates. Vieillot, pas assez propre.
