Great location. Some nice staff. Nice buffet breakfast. Comfy bed, nice bathroom..
Noisy female staffer in the breakfast room carrying on loud conversations with other staff and anyone who might pass her way. Noisy rooms seemingly lacking any sound reading characteristics-strreet noises, hallway noise, next room noise. WIFI slow as dial-up.
Nice room, good bathroom, nice breakfast buffet, super central location, Manel and Andreas of the staff were superb.
Snail-like wifi in my room, loud, loud staff woman, very noisy street sounds through balcony door, could here coughing and other sounds next door through thin walls. Tiny, ill-located TV.
Lovely breakfast, excellent location, friendly staff.
The bed and pillows were too hard and very uncomfortable.
90% of everything.
A little trouble with wifi, but they fixed it. The only thing that was "iffy" was the bedding. The blanket seemed like it could've used a wash, but there was a bed sheet to cover so it was OK. Not a huge deal.
Location amazing. Breakfast very good. Comfortable room at very reasonable price.
the daylight didn't really light up the room during the day. Just a bit dim.
central location. traffic free street. the bar/dining room . good breakfast. room on 5th floor with terrace and view.
room a little outdated . bed to hard for my liking.
Glasses should be glass not plastic
Couldn't tell you because I didn't end up staying there. See below what I didn't like.
When I had to leave Spain early because of a health emergency. I called to tell them I was not going to be staying with them for the 2 nights I booked. I asked if they could please not charge me and they flatly said NO and charged me anyway. If you book at this hotel beware that they will not be helpful in an emergency situation.
Small room, poor wifi, staff a little stiff example... Lost the wifi password they had written down on a piece of paper for me, I was already in my room (3rd floor) in my pjs. So I called to get it and the man at the desk told me I would have to come back downstairs so he could write it down for me? I told him I was in my pajamas already and he reluctantly gave it to me over the phone??? I've stayed here before and it seems to be slipping a little since last time. Bathroom had hand shampoo dispensers in the shower? But it is a decient price and a good location not for the view but for the closeness to sol.
I liked the terrace and the tea-coffee maker which was we ordered. Price not bad for a room.
I think we're not on the right time of the holiday because of the rain but other than that we truly enjoyed our stay in Madrid.
The hotel is in a great location just off Puerto Sol. The staff were really helpful and pleasant.
We were given a room on the front of the hotel and it was very noisy during the night, however the following morning we requested a move to a quieter room and our request was granted without any problem.
Probably the best hotel in Madrid for location and value for money
Breakfast manager was so very friendly, efficient, and really a charmer. Helpful, friendly staff.
Can't think of anything.
Great location right in the heart of the city. Easy walking distance from many attractions and close to metro for all others. Good breakfast and friendly staff.
Older hotel so the rooms are a little dated but they are clean and I enjoyed my time here.
Located right in centre of Madrid and great for shopping, sightseeing and eating out. Reception staff fab and so helpful.Room with balcony was lovely and we heard no noise at night even though we were so close to all the action.
Bed was not the most comfortable.
The staff were very helpful and accommodating and the location was excellent. Would definitely stay here again.
The noise level on the street was quite high often until the wee hours. We did see this in other reviews and still opted for a room at the front. We would make the same choice again
The location is very good, just in the middle of town, easy to walk everywhere!!
Old and small rooms. Tiny double bed, hard bed, carpets on floors. We had booked a superior With balcony, and it was good size, but terrible view.
The location is central to most of the places we wanted to visit, the staff especially the breakfast waiter were very friendly and helpful, the room was a good size, and very clean. Would stay there again.
A little noisy early morning, and WiFi a bit slow.
The hotel is so cousy and clean the location is perfect
There is no parking and we paid 35 euros for 10 hours of parking
Everything else it was very noisy room was really smelly
breakfast and location
Our room had a smell. If you are sensitive to noise; do not get a room facing the hotel front. You can hear the crowd at night till the late hours. Thin walls.
Location,character of hotel,staff
Location step out of hotel onto the precadios and Callao plaza lots of activity. Gran Via meters away.
Rooms very small beds are double nothing bigger. If you are used to a higher standard you will not be comfortable here
i have been staying at the Carlos V since 1969 along with my parents and other relatives. Location is BEST. I has been improving with the years.
Some of the young waiters at breakfast were not very attentive.
