The location is very good, just in the middle of town, easy to walk everywhere!!
Old and small rooms. Tiny double bed, hard bed, carpets on floors. We had booked a superior With balcony, and it was good size, but terrible view.
The location is central to most of the places we wanted to visit, the staff especially the breakfast waiter were very friendly and helpful, the room was a good size, and very clean. Would stay there again.
A little noisy early morning, and WiFi a bit slow.
The hotel is so cousy and clean the location is perfect
There is no parking and we paid 35 euros for 10 hours of parking
Everything else it was very noisy room was really smelly
breakfast and location
Our room had a smell. If you are sensitive to noise; do not get a room facing the hotel front. You can hear the crowd at night till the late hours. Thin walls.
Location,character of hotel,staff
Location step out of hotel onto the precadios and Callao plaza lots of activity. Gran Via meters away.
Rooms very small beds are double nothing bigger. If you are used to a higher standard you will not be comfortable here
i have been staying at the Carlos V since 1969 along with my parents and other relatives. Location is BEST. I has been improving with the years.
Some of the young waiters at breakfast were not very attentive.
In the real center of madrid.
Poor wi-fi A bit too old
When I first arrived in everything was neat, the reception staff was outgoing and friendly. The facilities are comfortable, also, it is worthy of every buck it costs, very affordable, finally, it is strategically located in the very center of Madrid, shops, nice restaurants, and cafes are nearby. I recommend it.
Nice staff, good location, clean, good breakfast
Street a bit noisy
The closeness to all the major attractions, Sol, Plaza Major,Royal Palace and shops.
Fourth time at the Carlos V - location is perfect for all city centre attractions. Breakfast first class and staff very helpful and professional.
Wifi provision - despite receptionist providing password details unprompted - was hopeless. Could get zero connectivity anywhere including public areas in hotel. No excuse fot this given the widespread access elsewhere in the city.
Great location, in convenient walking distance from key sites such as The Prado, Plaza Mayor, The Royal Palace etc.
Previously visited 8 years ago, and nothing appears to have changed! The hotel felt rather run down and tired, air conditioning (essential), very noisy and adjustment not possible because of broken controls. So the options were off- too hot to sleep well, on - too noisy to sleep well.
Location, location, location and staff who did everything they could to make it a pleasant stay - apart from the housekeeper!!!!!!
- Friendly and very helpful staff - Good location close to Puerto del Sol - Fantastic roof terrace w/ sun beds, table & chairs - Good breakfast buffet w/ lots to choose from
- Unstable WiFi connection
Location was great. Breakfast was good.
The most expensive hotel we booked.
Central location. Room 506 has an excellent balcony with 2 chairs and table plus 2 sun loungers and awning.
Room was small. Person in charge of mini-bar barged into room - on complaining, was told that we hadn't put our key card into the electricity slot so he assumed no-one was there. Definitely not acceptable.
Excellent location Very quiet Helpful staff
Staff very friendly, location excellent right in centre of shops
Room a bit on the small size after the price I paid
The lounge/dining area; the staff!
Great location, relatively quiet street next to city centre. Nice hotel, good breakfast.
I love the location, very central to everything you would want to do in Madrid.
Breakfast is expensive especially within 100 yards of the hotel you can have a breakfast alfresco for a quarter of the Price. Although I have stayed there a few times they arent good at maintaining records. Twice they have lost a reservation
Lack of parking; lack of a plan for alternate parking; lack of information in listing that the hotel is located in a pedestrian zone and parking is a big challenge. Sign on street is flush to building...we were 40 ft away and on wrong side of street and could not tell where the hotel was located. Warning that 1-2 May are holidays in Madrid & to expect crowds.
