we got this last minute, one day before check-in and the last two days of our multi-city Spain trip. I was put off by the street and area as we were walking to the street entry but inside there was another story; very good and clean scent inside the common areas, very clean elevator. I was so happy when we entered the apt, and so were everyone else. Layout is beautiful, richly lit, very nice hardwood, new kitchen, renovated clean and modern bathroom. But as time went by, the dirty carpet and sofabed and the noise started leaving their impact. I was surprised that in 2 weeks in Spain we never had any bug encounters (even in Ibiza and Formentera islands). But we saw both flies and small and larger mosquitoes here. The apartment wall is exposed stone and brick, which is enchanting IF there is not a bug issue; otherwise it adds to the feeling of uncleanliness. Overall, there is a striking contrast between these two elements on the apartment. We are happy we got it last minute, but will not return to it; cheers.
Barca2: squirrels or mosquitoes!!!?!... (3/5 star)
Apt is on 2nd floor with a small lift. Excellent use of very small space: two bbeds in a 2.5 foot roof attic, one sofabed, and one king bed. Very well lit.
Location: In a urban area (near Placa Antonio Lopez), a minute walk from the busy Placa de Santa Maria, and close to the Main port and aquarium. It is in a small street that is not too pleasant.
Comfort: There was construction in the next building and lots of noise started at 8:30 am. At night, there was a lot of noise from a nearby restaurant/bar that went deep into the night.
Safety: There is a large safety note on the main door. The area is frequented by homeless people even in the middle of the day, and smell of weed is quite frequent. There is a safe in the unit that does not work.
Services: Two convenient stores very neaby, cheap and well stocked and open late; There is a nice cafe-bar (Pisamorena) a few steps away (Love on the beach drink was awesome). Many small restaurants and nice shops and an upscale nail shop/spa in nearby, in all directions. Many great icecream places as you go to and through the Plaza Santa Maria. Two pharmacies at this plaza. There is paid parking on the neareby street, but the street itself is only for scooters and bikes. There is also underground parking across the Plaza (20Eu per day card supplied by the owner).
Furniture: Ikea, well equipped. Hard furniture and floor were fine. The carpets and the fabric sofa bed, on the contrary, were extremely dirty, not just with stains but with litter and trash. I guess the attic would be hard to clean with a vaccum cleaner.
A/C: in-wall control, efficient.
Bathroom: clean, shower is great, no issues
Kitchen: Well equipped, dishwasher. Lots of small flies/mosquitoes; blasting them with a towel made good fun for the kids, but added to the overall unclean sensation. The second night we had real and larger mosquitoes.
