Excellent value (53 euros for two people in a large triple room including breakfast). Impressive building, nice grounds, central location, very handy for Girona airport which was why we chose it (last night of holiday before flying home). Excellent breakfast. Room was a little bit shabbly with some scuffs (although very clean) and decor was a bit spartan. Buffet dinner was a bit disappointing - more like good quality canteen food than what you would expect from a hotel, although reasonable value at 15 euros each including unlimited plonk. There isn't much to do or see in Caldes de Malavella (didn't find any nice looking restaurants) but not a problem since we chose the location due to proximity to Girona airport. These are all minor points and overall we were very impressed with the value for 53 euros.

My stay was very pleasant, as usual. I was charged for the first time ever for using a bottle of water from my fridge in my room.

The breakfast was very good; hot and cold buffet. We also had dinner in the restaurant a few times and it was very impressive too. A slight problem with getting the correct room. Not every member of staff behind the Reception Desk seems prepared to speak in any other language apart from Catalan. Perhaps a reason for the guests being mainly Spanish.

Lovely looking on out and inside but rooms basic. Breakfast very good with staff and selection and quality. Staff did not respond to requests for a missing glass, extra pillow, etc. and we had to be moved to the room right next to reception to be able to get internet. A la carte closed in low season although buffet available. Piped music in bar area during day very loud - no one sat there. If silent during day it would have made a lovely quiet view and surroundings in which to relax.

Both the buffet dinner and breakfast offered excellent choice and was of the highest quality. Very friendly and efficient staff looked after every need. Would highly recommend this hotel for a relaxing break, or overnight stay. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The hotel has a very interesting history - very nice indeed. No real complaint. Just that the hotel is difficult to find when travelling on the auto-route. Maybe the directions could be a little more explicit.

Ideally situated for my needs. Cool in Summer, warm in Winter. Good food. Relaxing, quiet. Sometimes can be extremely busy and difficult to get any attention.

This hotel is very near to Railway Station and convenient for trips to Girona and Barcelona. The grounds are very lovely and the staff helpful and friendly. The breakfasts were very good and the food is good quality. It's right near to the bottling factory and during the week there is continual noise from the plant and the lorries going back and for. The hotel has seen much better days and although the exterior is impressive and the grounds well maintained the interior is rather shabby and could not with much more investment. The tv channels available are all in Spanish and there is little in the way of entertainment if the weather is bad. The room we were given was spacious but gloomy and it's not the sort of room you really want to spend much time in.

The average age is over 75. Which is very nice when you are not young yourself. We are ten years younger. For trips to Barcelona and Girona this hotel is top. We only had breakfast there. So no opinion about the kitchen.

The hotel is charming. If you want ultra modern, this is not the hotel for you. The staff were efficient, friendly and went out of their way to help. Many beauty treatments are available. The grounds and out door swimming pool are peaceful and well looked after. Buffet evening meal good value for money but one night is probably enough.

Very near from the airport, this beautiful hotel changes from standard structures. Very good and cheap food, old fashioned and charming rooms and corridors, a beautiful park and an excellent spa service. Just note that children under 14 years old cannot go into the thermal hot pool.

With the exception of the "maitre d" all the staff were extremely pleasant, friendly and helpful. We were only staying one night so the easy access to the airport was important to us. The fact that breakfast didn't start until 8.15 a.m. The receptionist told us that as we had to be at the airport by 8.30 a.m. it would be possible to take out what we wanted, i.e. orange juice and croissants. However, this wasn't the case as the "maitre d" refused us entry to the dining room, despite us telling him that we had to leave immediately, even though it was already 8.05 a.m. It was a shame the main restaurant was not open that night, but the buffet was adequate.

It was quiet. Breakfast was good. The exterior is stunning, the interior interesting but a little on the dark side. Poor housekeeping: the shower holder fitting was broken making it necessary to hold the shower in one hand and wash with the other. Not easy and not acceptable! Dinner was self service. The cold buffet starter dishes were adequate but offered nothing exciting. However, the hot dishes had been kept too long in bain maries and were therefore past their best. We were disappointed that the menu gastromonic was not available. Although there was a bar it wasn't open and we were not offered room service so no chance of a cup of tea and no aperitif before dinner, not acceptable. This is a spa hotel specifically designed for elderly people taking 'the cure' which is not clear in the advert and we would have gone elsewhere had we known.

The buffet breakfast & buffet evening dinner was excellent quality and value for money, quite impressive actually. Next time will stay two nights and experience the spa/massage facilities which is this hotels speciality.Ideally located for en-route to/from Southern Spain. The main restaurant is closed Monday & Tuesday evenings but the alternative Buffet dinner was excellent. Regretted only staying one night!
