Slight traffic noise from front of hotel.

Enjoyed the rooftop-terrace and the vintage surroundings, and the location - close to both the beach and the city.

Staff was unwilling to give us beach towels on demand, breakfast was nothing special, fridge never got properly cold.

Staff, size of room (and bathroom - huge!), location location, location!

Very cumbersome WiFi log-on process. It's free, but you constantly have to re-log on. Small irritant, but could be improved.

- Nice breakfast, fresh juice, joghurt, fresh fruit, bread with cheese and salami, croissant. - Big room and bathroom - Luggage storage during visit to the centre after check out was no problem.

Perfect location! 3 min. To the beach, 15 min walk to city center. Charming house and staff. Quite room. Good space.

The bed was a bit hard.

Nice atmosphere, homely. Close to local restaurants and bars. Very clean. Excellent staff and enjoyable good value breakfast!

Old world rustic, look. Felt like a bed and breakfast with modern upgrades. Roof top balcony had great view.

Everything. The staff was very helpful in every respect. We wanted to change from our first room and it was no problem whatsoever. We received personal attention in arranging for a trip to Gibraltar. The public areas are very nice, and breakfast in the charming dining room was delicious and plentiful. It is an easy walk into town and to the beach but you can also use bus or taxi very conveniently.

We found this hotel to be the best value and most enjoyable place to stay in our entire two week vacation.

The hotel was very good value for money, excellent range of TV channels, we also had a sea view and a comfortable bed.

The staff were very friendly and helpful. The atmosphere of the hotel was easy going and relaxing. Room was large (even with the third bed for our small one) and well equipped (flat TV, hairdryer, fridge, safe, airco) for a two stars hotel. Location was perfect few steps from the beach and 10 minutes walking distance from city center.

Rooms in the front might be a bit noise due to heavy traffic on the national road. Go for a room on the back, you will miss the sea view, but you will gain some sleep. Breakfast is abundant, but the choice is a bit limited.

Bit tired decor wise. Needs someone to inject a bit of cash into a more contemporary or quirky look. Dying plants on the front terrace. Either take care of them or remove please.

Hotel California deserves more then 2 stars due to higher standard. The room was small, but nicely decorated. It was quiet as I requested in my reservation form. It was equipped by fridge, flat TV, airconditioner, clean towels each day, hairdrier, bidet, bathtub, minisafe, soaps, etc. Top roof terrace was great. Malagueta beach is just about 5 mins walk. Supermarket behind the corner (Sundays closed). You can walk to city center/port in 15mins, or take a bus which stops in front of the hotel. Hotel staff is very helpful and friendly, can speak English much better then I can speak Spanish. Breakfast becomes a bit monotematic within 10 days, but still tasty. I recommend this hotel.

We booked two rooms. Each room was clean, airy, nicely decorated, each with ceramic and marble baths. The staff was bi-lingual, and were very warm and gracious. We enjoyed the architecture of the small hotel, stained glass windows of the reception area, front patio, and wi-fi. The breakfast was nicely presented each morning and served at hours to accommodate early risers or late sleepers. For beach goers, the hotel is an easy block walk to the beach. For shoppers and sight-seeing, a comfortable stroll with ample eateries along the way at various price ranges. We liked the physical attributes of the hotel, but more importantly we enjoyed a feeling of hospitality that was extended during our stay.

Excellent location very near to Malageta beach and centre of city. The staff gave all useful information . The hotel is very nice inside and the apartment was with sea view. For sure I would recomend it to my frieds and hope to visit it next time.

Staff is friendly and helpful. We were given room with twin beds, because i forgot to mention double one in the booking form. But as soon as we requested, the hotel staff provided room with double bed and spacious bathroom with 2 sinks.

California is a very cozy hotel with good design and excellent services. Staff is friendly and helpful. Location is very close to city beach. Good value for money.
