The staff is beyond friendly. We were also given a suite with a full balcony facing the beach and there is a rooftop terrace, which is also great.
My mom had a single room on the side of the building. Everything about it was perfect except for the smell of septic tank that came from the building next door. The staff tried to accommodate her by changing the room, but it was the same on the upper floors.
+ Breakfast + Location
- Ants in the bathroom - Dirty bathrooms walls
Nothing was too much trouble and everyone was so kind and helpful at breakfasts about my friend's recent digestive problem. We were very comfortable and warm, and had easy access to a variety of restaurants nearby. This is a hotel with character, to which we will return.
Location, Decor, and Hospitality made our trip to the Hotel California a success.
Good location near the beach, decent price.
No room service if you leave after 12:00, no wifi in the room, and anywhere else complicated to log in with smart phones.
smell at asle
Good breakfast - pleasant owners / staff
The place is very central, the elegant stele of the building, the matress, amability of al personel,
Wi fi only in the lobby
Excellent friendly staff Very helpful and polite
Bedroom was quiet and peaceful which I find Essential. Very comfortable bed Good shower etc
Good location, bus stop outside the hotel for easy access to city centre just 5/6 stops @ €1.30 fare. Funky building, quick lift. Quiet at night.
Bed was very hard. Parking can be a problem, usually frees up a bit at night.
You cannot fault this hotels location, walking distance to the Old Town centre, although buses are available. First impressions the hotel seems a bit dated but very atmospheric. The rooms are a good size and the ensuite shower rooms are quite modern. Try the roof terrace great views!
Nothing springs to mind.
Couldn't make out who all the guys running the place were(!), but they were all very pleasant and anxious to make us comfortable.
As we found elsewhere on this trip, the 'double bed' consisted of two single beds - made up as single beds - simply pushed together. I realise that this gives them greater flexibility, but if they are going to do this, then there are plenty of really good beds on the market that can be pushed together and made up as a double - with little loss of comfort.
I loved the funkiness of the California and its location. It seemed to be in a time warp, in a positve way - so comfortable and friendly. It was located close to town and the beach, and we walked to both daily. Our room was spacious and clean, and faced on to the street, with a limited view also to the beach. The breakfasts were quite good, but once again, a bit "time warpy", where you have specific food delivered to your table instead of smorgasbord style. We would definately stay here again though - a great hotel.
There was a bad plumbing smell in our room, but this seems endemic in parts of Spain. We needed to keep the bathroom door shut to avoid this. The air conditioner was sometimes a bit noisy. Also the wifi was not good - we were not able to receive it in our room at all, but were able to in the lobby.
Stayed in superior room. Staff were very helpful. Close to Malaga Centro. Bus stop outside hotel.
The decor, the location, the cleanliness, the terrace and the size of the room.
The wifi was a pain in the as, unnecessarily complicated... U had to sign into it every few minutes with a complicated password.
Character, comfort, easy access to sea - to swim or walk along promenade. Bus stopped outside for Malaga, or it's an inexpensive taxi ride. Cafe across the road, several more within a five minute walk. Sense of being in a residential area not primarily for tourists but welcoming. Friendly staff.
Scent of room fresheners - but airing the room when not too hot solved it. We visited end October. Could be a little more efficient - to get an 'excellent' from me - but I didn't experience any problems with the way it was, we paid a return visit on the way home from further travel.
Good location Room is ok empty minifridge Nice open area in 4th floor
Small ants in the room/bed Rat in the hallway
unique hotel with personal touches, art, history of bldg, plants, flowers, bird singing Location to grocery, beach Pick quiet room in back as front rooms will have traffic noise large tasty brkft served by staff
wifi not consistent, but always able to get better wifi in lovely lobby
Staff very attentive and friendly. Big room with partial sea view. Good shower. Lovely building and gardens. Some television channels in English.
Wifi did not work in our room and we had to go to lobby to use it. This was despite the hotel's promotion that wifi was available throughout the hotel. Breakfast was OK but too expensive for what was provided.
We had a lovely room with terrace overlooking the sea. The room was very clean and comfortable. It was an ideal place for holidays. Close to city centre but far enough from the city noise. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Highly recommended place to stay.
Wi fi was very slow but worked most of the time. Apart from this all was ideal:)))
The rooms were large and clean. I liked the quirky decos. Very close to the beach...less than 5 min. walk. The breakfast was very tasty.
The room was noisy--in an attempt to close off the sound, you have to shut up all the windows and drapes so the room seems like a cave and you still hear the street noise. No wifi in the room...lobby only.
Although the rooms are small, there are very nice common areas for relaxing, reading and socializing. The rooftop patio has a great view of the sea.
The room was small for two people needing two beds.
Location, quality of mattress
Wifi was extremely poor. Noisy room and doors.Very basic room and bathroom faciliyies. Thin towels
Liked the location ,Beaches near restaurants perfect in every way.
Beds really hard and pillows
The staff, breakfast, the owners, the location and the fact that hotel California from the Eagles made this a special place. And right across the street is one of many restaurants with great food. You don't have to go far, it helps at night when walking back. Ask for room 301, has a small balcony.
