The hotel is located perfectly for tourism. It takes only 5-7 minutes to walk from it to the heart of Madrid: Sol, plaza Mayor, Opera, Real Palace, Grand Via, etc. In 15-30 minutes you can get Prado, Cibeles, Atocha, Reina Sofia just on foot. So, there is no need to use public transportation at all. Hotel staff is as friendly as possible. They are always ready to solve any your problem. Breakfast is rather tasty and healthy. Also they offer apples to hotel guests for free. :) There were never eggs for breakfast at all. Neither boiled, nor roasted. Bathroom equipment is designed not for people, but for martians. The shower and handwasher in room are totally awkward and unusable. Free wi- fi access is very slow and unstable, much worse even than gprs/3g from Vodafone. So, room lacks for being comfortable enough.

Stayed 8 days, fantastic location close to palace and opera metro, absolutely fantastic reception staff who all spoke English since we speak NO Spanish, very nice restaurants close, block from Plaza de Oriente and great outdoor cafes; hotel was immaculate, room was spacious, beds terrific and very nice bathroom with great shower and with sink and large dressing table area outside bathroom, can not say enough good things about this hotel. Breakfasts were great, typical Europeon cold breakfast with meats, cheeses, fruits, cereal, bread, coffee, juice; Absolutely fantastic value for the cost. Was traveling with my wife and daughters and we all loved the hotel. Don't be mislead by its two star rating, its much nicer than many 4 star hotels I've stayed in in Europe. Incredibly friendly. We upgraded to a larger room from the standard double and the upgrade cost was well worth the small additional charge for the extra room.

Great location with the Opera Metro station just over the road. Right in the centre of Madrid with most of the sights in walking distance.

The staff, both at the reception as well as in the breakfast room, was very friendly and kind. I had mentioned that I was on a wedding anniversary trip and we found some drinks waiting for us in the room - though we arrived very late, close to midnight - and even a card in Dutch language, as they saw we were coming from Amsterdam. That was lovely. We had a small issue with one room and they immediately gave us another room of the same level if not higher. They also provide extra information in a nice way, such as a card in the room with the weather forecast of the next day. The beds could be a bit more comfortable, but not a big deal.

The location is good and Room Mate Hotels are usually very good. Our room was noisy (Room 102) so I suggest a room on a higher floor. Some of the fittings in the room were damaged, the hotel is certainly showing signs of wear and tear.

Location-quiet street yet very close to the metro & easy to walk around the old city from there, helpful staff, design, firm bed, light excluder in room The bedroom walls are paper thin-your sleep is determined by the guests staying in the room next door. hard-boiled eggs would be nice at breakfast a proper soap-holder by the basin

Very comfortable hotel, with modern decor and facilities. Reception staff very helpful and friendly. Room plenty large enough with nice bathroom, Large bed very comfortable.Breakfast buffet is simple but plentiful and there is alway a large variety of choices. Superb location for the Metro, The Palace and the main Square. Dozens of bars and restaurants - no one will go hungry or thirsty in Madrid. The open-top tour bus is brilliant to allow you a day of exploring with the commentary and then to use again the next day to hop-off at the stops you really want to visit. If you are there for sevral days, take the train to Toledo - about €18 each return on a high speed train - well worth the effort. All in all, first class. There is no bar - but with the availability within metres of the door, not too much of a problem. A bar would also have provided the option to get a coffee or tea when returning from a day out. I guess if that's all we can find to put here, there's not a lot wrong with this hotel.

We stayed last year at Roomate Alicia the chain's Barcelona hotel and enjoyed them very much. This member of the chain did not meet expectations. The decor is tired, the check in woman was unpleasant and cleaning was less than perfect. All in all a hotel we would definitely not stay at again and will be somewhat reluctant to stay at a roommate again.

Only good location and room design. The very poor service from in the reception, a tall lady with short hair, spoil my my mood all day, hotel only have two floors, you could not see anything from the room. The hotel surely is not valuable for eur77 per night, I will never try this hotel again.

Good location. Friendly staff.Clean Tourist information leaflets could be better located. A lounge would have been of benefit, a place to sit and relax?

It is wonderful in every way. Close to most of the interesting points in the old downtown Madrid. You can go walking every where, but it is also a walking distance (50 m) from the metro station. The staff is amazinly friendly. The room is very confortable. Not that it disturbs a lot, but it is difficult to sleep in late because you can hear people's walking on the isles early in the morning.

Perfect location. Good value for the money. Extremely attentive and helpful staff. On arrival I found on the table of my room a welcome letter. It was addressed to me personally, was fully handwritten and signed by a hotel manager. Although I am a frequent traveller, I've seen nothing like this in any other hotel in the world. Despite my concerns that the wi-fi internet might be slow, in my room it worked perfectly. The room was clean and not noisy. In my view this hotel is much better than any three star hotel and some four star hotels. I think that availability in the room of some tea and coffee making facilities would bring additional value to this hotel, but this is a relatively minor issue.

Location mainly. I had a single room which had a double bed in. This was great for me but left little room for anything else. Unless I sat on the bed the workspace was unusable. I would say this room was slightly over priced and should include breakfast. If the hotel was less well located the overall attraction of staying would decrease dramatically. No real facilities- a little small.
