The hotel is clean, good value for money and not that far from city centre, only 6 bus stops away.
No wifi from second level up, you have to go to lobby to use it. Receptionist doesn't speak English only cleaner does, but she's absolutely lovely girl
Close to the metro. Nice area to walk around at night
Hard to communicate with English but that's what you get in a foreign country. Late check in was a bit hard.
Good sized rooms
Far away from the centre and the beach. The staff spoken barely any english
Location is excellent. The room is quite large and clean. Bathroom in the room.
Usualy there were no perosnnal at the reception. But for us it was not an issue at all.
The fact that you got your own bathroom and the location was quiet. Staff were really helpful and friendly and the room that I had had a great area of outside space, it's featured in the pictures. I would definitely rate this place as excellent value for money. Buy a travelcard and the three minute walk to the metro takes you direct to the centre. Would definitely stay there again.
No hairdryer in room or fridge
Very clean, close to the metro that will take you to the heart of barcelona. Compact and efficient. Quite neighborhood.
Nothing much negative except that WiFi reception is very poor
The hostel is well located, in a quiet neighbourhood, but close to all essentials. It is basic, but very clean and comfortable.
The WiFi is available only in the reception area. This is really inconvenient.
Affordable hostel, 50 euro per night for a double room with private bathroom. Clean and fresh. Friendly staff but does not talk very good English. The room had what you need for a weekend in a big city. Okay bed and good bathroom.
The downside was the location. A bit far from the city center. 6 metro stops away from the Passeig de Gracia but the hostel is near the station Guinardo Hospital de Sant Pau.
cleanliness, facilities, friendly staff
audibility, no kitchen, no breakfast
Great stay. The people running the place were honestly the nicest people. When we got back every night to our place we were so happy, they made it feel like we were at home
Just a little far from everything but the metro is right there so it was fine
Little, but cozy hotel. We lived on the third floor. In the room we had everything we needed: two beds, a wardrobe, a table, a chair and a bedstand. The room is rather spacious. Moreover, there was a little patio with a table and two chairs (perfect for early-morning outdoor breakfasts and a glass of wine in the evenings!). The nearest metro station (Guinardó - Hospital De Sant Pau, L4) is in a three-minute walk. L1 metro line was more convenient to me, so I walked to Navas station (1,3 km or 10-15 minutes). Transport availability is great, and the surroundings are pleasant: there are many bars, cafes, supermarkets, etc. When you're checking-in, the guy on reception gives you a room key and an electronic card to open the hotel's door. The card is very useful, because usually there is no one at the reception desk. I strongly advise you to make a call to the hotel from the airport in order for them to get ready for you and meet you at reception. The room was very clean, they made it up every day. The personnel was very friendly. They also provided us with free Barcelona maps. Wi-Fi was available only at reception desk (no dissapointment, because we knew about it beforehands), but it worked fast and smoothly. There is a table and electric outlet, where you can sit with your laptop.
On one day there were problems with water: it just stopped running, both cold and hot. Good for me, several minutes later it went alright (standing in a shower without water, but with shampoo on your head is rather uncomfortable). I really suppose it to be Barcelona's, not Hostal Canigo's problem, in fact.
First time we stayed in hostel. We felt like in hotel. Our room was clean, great value for money. Close to metro station, shops, sightseeings
Missed some english TV channels
The owners were very nice and helpful. The hotel & room were clean and very nicely set. It was 5 mins walk to the metro and there are lots of pastry shops and local restaurants around. Very quiet area. We'd definitely recommend it.
The room does not have a hair dryer. This is for the ladies we sometimes need it.
balcony, quite silent neighborhood
I recommend the personel improve their english :), no kettle
