I stayed at the hotel with my husband. I am extremely pleased with our decision to select this hotel for our stay in Madrid. The Hotel is almost next door to Atocha Renfe station ( taking the aeropuerto bus from the airport, followed by short 5 minutes walk: total cost 2 euros per person ! so avoid taxi of 40 euros fare, if you can), with close access to two metro stations also. It is away from the hustle and bustle of downtown Madrid, yet within a comfortable walking distance. Extremely proximate to Prado and Reina Sofia museums, as well as the pleasant Retiro Park. Excellent places to eat near the Reina Sofia museum. Best of all. We liked the large rooms with plenty of storage places, large bathroom. We stayed in an upper floor, and there was no street noise. Excellent food in the lobby, and pleasant staff. Would stay there again!

Bathroom!! we liked it very much! with heated floor. Breakfast was okay, hot sausages and bacon, scrambled eggs, fruits, cereals, cheese, desserts. Noting special, but just nice, staff refilled and refreshed everything and took care. Location is 20 minutes walk from the center. Free minibar for the whole stay was included in price. Hotel design is a little depressive (everything is in black). Small double bed (probably 140-150 cm) in standard room. You can have dinner in the hotel but only starting from 20.30 if I'm not mistaken. The tables in lobby where you can eat are limited, so each evening all of them were occupied and we were left hungry (at the same time the breakfast area is closed for dinner although there are many tables).

They changed our room when we asked because the previously that they gave us had no view with another one that was a little more bigger and had bigger windows. The room was nice and clean, big bed that was comfortable, big tv. Also the bathroom was big enough with everything that you need it. The staff doesn't know english well enough to explain to you what you need to know. They doesn't explain enything about the city, the surroundings or what you can see or do in the city. It can be a little conffusing to find all the things you want to see. The room service is limited with little choices, not that fresh and expansive. The hotel bar is small and it is in the lobby with to much traffic, beeing not that cozy. Verry little elevator. No facilities for tea and coffe in the room. It would have been nice to have it. Also something that i didn't like was that when we wanted to pay the room at the end with cash, they told us that the money were already beeing taken from the credit card without asking us, and we get our receipt after asking for it, not beeing asked to sign something for the payment. After staying also in a four star hotel in Barcelona, this one was dissapointing, not for the room, that was nice, but for the services and the stuff.

Nice facilities, with sound proof windows, tidy and new. Great location, within walking distance to Reina Sofia and Prado and close to metro stations. I will certainly stay again when I go back to madrid. Internet could be free and breakfast cheaper

We stayed 1 night at the hotel was we were transiting from Barcelona via Renfe. If you're walking from the Renfe station to the hotel, do exit from the taxi queue area to avoid making a big u-turn by foot. Hotel staff was great. Room was modern and clean, and the minibar (drinks) were indeed free for guests. Not much of an issue to have a room facing the inner side cos the main street didn't have great views to boast, I personally think. The hotel is quite far off the main locations and it's quite impossible to walk. But no problem once you familiarize yourself with the metro. The price I paid for the hotel was equivalent to the price of a hostel I paid downtown, so if I return to Madrid again, I'd definitely stay at ac Hotel Carlton again.

Staff was very helpful...a 4 star hotel for a great price. Room was small...as most european hotel rooms seem to be but the bathroom was very spacious and as we were visiting the city we didn't spend much time in the room.

The hotel is conveniently situated for the city especially is you arrive at Atoche station, it is only a 5 minute walk away. There are lots of cafes and bars in the area and you can walk into the centre without any problem. The room was very spacious, clean and comfortable and contained a mini bar with free contents. The reception staff were very friendly and helpful - full marks for them! We were able to store our cases the day we left until the time of our train without any problems. I would definitely use this hotel again. A bath would be nice instead of just a shower but of course thats down to personal choice.

Very good location, close to the Atocha train station The rooms are too noisy, the walls seem to be paper thin. You can hear the TV in the room next door and in the mornings you can hear guest leaving their rooms with the doors banging shut.

The room, pillows and bed comfortable. Front desk good. Very close to the Atocha train station. The bedroom walls are very thin, we could hear all the street noise, the tv and conversation in the room next door. Could not control the air conditioning. Laundry service very expensive, as with all the hotels we stayed at.

Close to the train station and short taxi ride to historic, sightseeing venues. Easy access from the airport using the 3 stop bus express for I believe 2 Euros. Clean well equipped, the free mini bar is a huge bonus. Excellent restaurant right across the street. Dining room is in the lobby. Don't know why they don't use the dining room used for breakfast.

The hotel is close to two major train stations and approx a 20 min walk to the centre square. Supermarket and 24hr pharmacy very close. The room was very spacious and very clean. Wifi was an additional €20 approx for 24hrs. Breakfast very expensive at €14pp. No tourist info at the hotel and not much English spoken by staff. Treated rudely on checkout by one particular staff member.

Cool bathroom. Breakfast very expensive, as internet access in the room. No double bed, as requested, but just two single beds close to each other. Considering the hotel price, I was expecting more.

This hotel is near Atocha station and the Reina Isabel gallery. You can walk from there to the Plaza Mayor in 20 minutes. The staff were very helpful. We complained about the noise from the room next door ( rooms with connecting doors are to be avoided!) and we were moved to another room immediately. Breakfast was fine and the whole stay was good value for money.
