Everything! It was great to stay there. Very enjoyable atmosphere in the hotel. Very friendly hosts. Nice location. Verly helpfull recommendations. Good breakfast. Lovely town.
The location was good. We booked a triple and were welcomed nicely by the owner and shown yo our room which was adequate but had no proper window. The bed was excellent which made for a nice sleep. Thereis a very nice central patio area with seating, it is quite small and is the only outside area. Location wss excellent snd the owner gave us s map and pointed out the main points of interest. Tyeir wss sn honedting bar eith coffee and cold drinks.
No window in the room and no tv. Aldo we were unable yo grt any phone sihnal st sll in the room which meant having to go to the patio in order to use the phone. We woke up at 8 and breakfast was not until 9, so at 8:30 we got a coffee and sat in the patio to get some air and check messages etc. We were talking very quietly when owner told us that other guests would still be sleeping and said we would have to have coffee in our windowless room. It felt like we were being treated like naughty children! Will nevrr dtay hrre agsin.
The patio, the places the host recommended to us
I have been staying several times at this hostal, the first time being10 years ago when Carlos' mum "Maria" was still running Santa Maria. Service has been expanded ever since: modest breakfast, comfortable beds, Wifi, a touch of paint, ecological awareness ... the warm welcome and unforced, informal atmosphere made us feel totally at home (again). Best Regards and hug for Maria David Serlet
Great location for a one night stay. Quirky hotel and room made a change from traditional styles - enjoyed ambience. Carlos was perfect host.
Bathroom compact and tired - needs an update. Could not find socket for bed side light - finally found in the morning at head of bed behind pillows..
- The host was really nice and helpfull, the interior deco and cleanness of the rooms, the inside patio.
- The rooms given were at the ground floor right near the patio, where people were chatting till midnight
room was lovely designed and was cleaned every day, slept very good and felt like in heaven,- kitchen and dining area were wonderfully designed too, I could find new beautiful details every day... very professional and friendly staff; outstanding helpful, friendly and polite. thanks a lot!
Casa de Huéspedes Santa Maria is really cozy place. It's made with a lot of creativity, fantasy and sense of humor and I strongly recommend it for inspiring holiday. Beside that, the hostel is clean, quiet, comfortable. Out hosts were helpful and very kind. Definitely must go.
The rooms are tastefully decorated with bits of artwork and there is a modern twist on the traditional Andalusian patio where you can have breakfast which is included. Staff are very helpful and do everything they can to make you welcome.
If you are a light sleeper, you can hear the movement of people around the place, but nothing excessive.
Beautiful ambience and character of the building Fantastic staff - incredibly welcoming and helpful! Location Size of rooms Value for money
Very comfortable and nice, every thing in this place made with love.... Carlos was very helpful, his english is excellent! My best recomendations!
Breakfast was very sweet, only pancakes and juice... but large supermarket Mercadonia is not far from the hotel... Sometimes problems with car parking...
Very helpful staff, good location to visits Cadiz and arround
Everything! The owners were very, very nice, spoke English and were willing to help with anything. The rooms were very good, the beds were amazing, the patio and kitchen were lovely. Everyone should stay here!!
The location of the outlets was unhandy, no outlets near the bed. Otherwise, nothing :)
The best Hostal we have been in during our round travel around Andalusia in spring 2014. Very well prepared host (Carlos) always helping us finding the right place to visit, eat, enjoy the beach or simply having a relaxing and enjoyable time. Having breakfast in the patio or simply entering the Hostal by the front door surprised us with an incredible richness of details and, at the same time, let us feel welcome and at home. If I get the possibility I would return.
Hosts, Design of the rooms, yard and kitchen, Location, Comfortable beds, very clean
The friendliness of our hosts; location and comfort.
We adored the style and overall atmosphere. We were very welcome with the dogs We hope to be back one day !
parking is a bit difficult but eventually we managed... breakfast could do with some extras
What an excellent, quirky little hostal, fascinating interiors, Carlos & Miriam are the most friendly and helpful hosts you could ever wish to meet! Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and have every intention of visiting again. Lovely old town with loads to see and do, places to eat, drink etc - our intention had been to use El Puerto as a base to visit Cadiz but we found so much there we never made it - that will be for next time!
In the depths of the old town parking is an issue and its tricky to find, in part due to the complicated (to a visitor) one way system. We chose to park our motorcycle on the street outside but in hindsight it would have been better in the garage that Carlos had suggested as it was a constant worry - the locals aren't too fussy about bumping into other vehicles to get into an impossible space and it goes on night and day. Wouldn't put us off at all tho', we'd just be better prepared next time.
Absolutely excellent - we loved the unusual decor and the place is outstanding value for money. We will be back there.
Carlos was very welcoming and helpful, with good English.. Location is very good for getting around by walking. A big advantage is being able to make coffee and use the fridge. Parking our large vehicle at the bullring worked out well - easy to drive in and out of town.
Lovely accommodation in a good location with lots of quirky design features.
Absolutely excellent! Best accommodation during our 10 days trip to Andalusia. Big and comfortable bed, fantastic design. Good reason to go to visit El Puerto de Santa María.
We loved the quirkiness of there décor it had a style of its own which set it aside from any other hostel we have stayed in. Carlos and his wife were friendly, very helpful and spoke good English. It was also very clean and you could tell they took pride in the service they provided.
