Hostal Mesones is located in the heart of Granada’s historic town, only 90 metres from the Cathedral, close to the Albaicin district and 20 minutes’ walk from the amazing Alhambra.
Score from 401 reviews Very good
Quiet, elegant and charming building with ambiance and historical decor. Location is perfect.
It was an experience to stay in this historic property. At the same time, we were very pleasantly surprised at the creative modernizations.
The access roads by car are not for the faint of heart.
Breakfast was a good buffet with option of omelette if desired, and the staff couldn't have been more helpful
Very comfortable bed wonderful location in quite part of city easy to reach all visiter sites.
If you travel by car take a Sat nav watch out for bus lanes
The staff were helpful and communicative, location perfect.
As it is located close to the Alhambra, cars are restricted and need a pass to enter. I was not aware that I needed to program the GPS with an address other than that of the hotel. Travelers should contact the hotel for detailed instructions before attempting the trip.
Beautiful building with real atmosphere. We had room 14 which had amazing views of the Alhambra. Breakfast was excellent with omelettes made to order. Location perfect for exploring Granada.
Location, below The Alhambra set close to the river. Wonderful for strolling into town. Classic job of converting an old residence into a hotel.
No exterior view.
The hotel was very hard to find.
The location was on a quiet street steps from the river in one direction and steps from the old moorish quarter in the other, and, to top it off just below the imposing Alhambra above us.
Our room was small and didn't have a window to the outside.
Staff arranged a private cultural tour and were very helpful. Location central to downtown and albaysin.
Clean Good quality linen Tea and coffee making facility
Location. While it was close to some eating places, it was still a good 15 minutes walk to town. We joined a tour with hotel pick up, but The road to the hotel was so narrow, the bus was not able to get there and we had to walk to town and join the bus there. Most rooms at the hotel do not have a view to the Alhambra anyway. Room size was extremely small. Not even room for a writing desk. The courtyard was just like many old moorish buildings, but this one had a feel of "soulless". As mentioned by other guests, the hotel had a stuffy smell which was off putting. The reception was in an enclosed area off the courtyard, with high counter. After one had been out; to get back to the hotel, you had to ring the front door bell. The receptionist open the front door by remote control. One could walk in and out of the hotel many times a day through the courtyard without being greeted or seeing anyone. The receptionists had varying degree of proficiency in English. While they were courteous, they never volunteered any helpful information. We had to ask about wifi before we were given the details. In conclusion: The hotel lacked the warmth of a small business. This was the most expensive hotel we stayed in during our 12 days in Spain and also the most disappointing one. We will certainly not stay there again.
Beautiful house, great staff, and great location
Rooms are a bit small.
Beautiful Moorish interior. Lovely staff very helpful. Calm atmosphere and in a great position off the main road so peaceful but only minutes walk to many bars and restaurants. Noise does carry in this lovely old building so guests need to be mindful of disturbing others. We would Be very happy to stay here again
Rooms were small.
A little gem of a hotel. Tucked away, a beautifully restored fourteenth century house. Warm, cosy, fresh and spotlessly clean. Very surprised it's only 3 star. Would love to spend more time here.
Location was wonderful. The hotel is charming, in a historic building.
I was writing an assessment which I had to submit whilst on holiday. The staff bent over backwards to move furniture around so that I had an appropriate space. Very well mannered and helpful generally. There was a member of staff on the desk 24 hours a day.
Just a small point . We had smelly drains in our bedroom ( number 4).not many tea bags although we could request them and same with milk supply.
Upon our arrival , we loved everything about this hotel, the location is so peaceful yet excellent position in old town; all we could hear was bird song and a guitar playing softly somewhere. The whole building has such a calm and serene atmoshere, like non other really.Perfect for visitng Alhambra and the falmenco night at Jardine Zoraya. A most memorable visit. One of the only hotels in this area where you can park right outside in hotel designated spaces.
The only poss. thing is that there is nowhere to sit and enjoy the sunshine but many places a few steps away overlooking the river, so not really a problem.
location beautifully restored building parking
Stepping over the threshold to see the beautiful courtyard with fountain, be welcomed by the pleasant reception guy, and entering our traditional bedroom with the most polished tile floor I have ever seen.
Rowdy revellers outside at 4 in the morning
Rebuild with original features. Sphere full. Good breakfast with friendly staf. Near, but uphill climb, to the Alhambra.
Getting there through narrow streets designed for nothing bigger than a Smart.
The location and one of the receptionists was helpful.
Emails prior to arrival were either unanswered or answered with irrelevant information. Whereas one receptionist WAS helpful, another could not have cared less and was almost rude. Our room was noisy (right next to the entrance), smelly (eau de drain) and stuffy. The location is wonderful and the building full of character, but our experience here was poor and I cannot recommend this hotel.
Walls do not stop sounds, so it is almost impossible to sleep after 7 am.
The courtyard makes you feel like you just walked into a Moorish palace. One the most romantic places I have ever stayed at.
Location, view, atmosphere, parking. And staff.... Intimate and Spanish feel...just a short walk along the river to main square ,restaurants galore ....
