Recently declared as best rural hotel in province of Málaga, it is located right in the heart of la Axarquia, next to the reservoir of La Viñuela and at the foot of the Sierra Tejeda mountain range.

Kitchen basic, lighting slightly dismal but typical of off-the-street villa.
Rural location, quiet area, good for walking and cycling, getting away from crowds on the costas.
It was all good
Friendliness of Abuela Pepa. We also enjoyed her organic vegetable box. Great value tapas and drinks in local bars. Being in typical working Spanish town. Wonderful bird watching nearby in Loja, Huertor Tajar and Ventas de Zafarraya. Watching ibex.
Everything was perfect.
Hotel is located in a ordinary spanish house where you can see a typical spanish life that you cannot see in a normal hotel. At night on the roof of patio you can look at the stars with a cup of tea/coffee/wine. Owner is very friendly and helpful. Our staying at Casa Rural de la Abuela Pepa was best of three weeks spanish holidays.
Jose is friendly and helpful, the countryside is beautiful, especially in the evening, near forested slopes and a national park, the house is spacious and cool even in hot weather, big tv, kitchen, everything one could want. Recommended.

Quite a lot of mosquitoes as we left a window open.
Great welcoming by abuela Pepa into this very comfy and clean home. Nothing was too much trouble and flexibility on arrival and checkout times was so accommodating. She also offered organic vegetables and herbs from her nearby farm. The parking was simple and free, right outside the door. A bread shop was at the bottom of the street and a supermarket round the corner. People in the village were super friendly and offered advice on where to go in the area, and all knew where we were staying as we were the only foreigners in town. We didn't go out for dinner so we do not know what else the town had to offer, choosing instead to cook the delicious veggies we acquired! A comfy lounge area and big screen was perfect for the World Cup quarter finals which were on while we were there. Very quiet street (one way street, so if you miss it, around you go again!) We were the only ones staying, which meant we had a whole house for amazing value. A great location to explore the area by car.
This was one of the biggest surprises of our trip. I would never have expected such a lovely place at such a low price. The place has everything you can ask for, fully fitted kitchen and sitting room with comfy sofas to name a few. Furthermore it's as stylish as it gets (all a handwork of the owner's Mum). Jose, the owner, looks after guests perfectly. He also had the best english we've come across during our trip.
