The Hostal Colon is on a busy main street in Antequera. All the attractions of this fine historical town are easily accessible from this central location. My wife, and I stayed four nights in a large double room with a small balcony. The en-suite room was very comfortable and spacious, the bed was very good and bathroom facilities were modern and kept to high standard. The daily cleaning and hard floor washing verged on the obsessive. We cannot fault the Colon on any point of housekeeping. The staff were most helpful and generous with their interest and kindness. Terese has very good English and she took care of most of our inquiries. All of the staff, including those with limited English, were very helpful at all times. Breakfast is not available here, however, there are many cafes in the vicinity. We have been in three star hotels that do not match the standards set by Hostal Colon. Do not be put off by references to 'hostal' or 'pension' - these titles are misleading. This is a fine budget hotel - it operates like a hotel, it simply, does not have a lounge,or restaurant. We slept well here, apart from street noise on the Saturday night. If this concerns you, you may wish to inquire about a quieter room overlooking the tiny internal patio. Overall, then, terrific value-for-money.

Street noise

A quirky place, full of character and lots of antique furniture in the many public areas. Loads of charm and super friendly staff. Rooms are not luxurious and there was a fair bit of noise on the Saturday night we stayed, but it is remarkable value for money and we loved it.And the wi-fi worked.

Nothing to dislike really, as long as you are not expecting luxury it is a good place to stay (that said, the bed was actually very comfortable).

It's very cute and well taken care of. Spacious, clean, tastefully decorated. Good facilities in the room (tv, wifi, hairdryer, mini fridge). The staff was efficient and pleasant. Good location. My room faced the inner patio and was quiet. This place is great and I am very glad to have found it !!!

Quirky old fashioned traditional Spanish hostal. Staff very friendly and helpful. Situated right in the heart of the town and close to all amenities. Bed linen and towels clean and fresh. Comfortable beds and pillows.

Problems with the loo that would not flush. We changed rooms but stll had the sae problem. In the end we asked for a bucket so that we could top up the cistern ourselves.

Excellent value for money. Central location, lovely old building. Friendly staff. Good cheap restaurants nearby.

Not really a dislike, but the bar across the road could cause a problem. Didn´t worry us. Get a room at the back if you think it might be an issue.

Fantastic location Family run Charming real Spanish hotel Pleasant prosperous clean working Spanish town. Fantastic castle, good local restaurants.Very welcoming people . would recommend without hesitation.

We stayed in a big room (nr 33), which was very comfortable. Friendly staff, and room was very satisfying.

Our room was on the street side, so opening the windows was not really an option as the street is quite noisy.

The staff were really friendly, and the hotel is really well located.

When we checked in, we went to our rooms and the doors were opened... There were no bath towels in the room.

This place is older and is in need of some upgrades, but price and location was excellent. Girl at the desk spoke English and was quite helpful with respect to sights and restaurants.

Room was big, but beds could have been a little firmer and it could have been a little cleaner. Enamel is coming off bathroom tub.

Very central pension right in centre of Antequera and close to points of interest, restaurants and shops.. Not a deluxe hostel, but very Spanish and in a way from times past. We loved this as it was so different from Holiday Inn Express, Ibis etc. Though possibly more trafffic noise would recommend asking for a room with balcony as this overlooks main street. Inside rooms though functional overlook internal terraces or wells.

Parking is a problem with only three reserved places in a garage close to the pension. There are Parking lots close by but luggage has to be carried as difficult to park outside. However, do not be put off by this.

We stayed in Hostal Colon for 1 night, we overall liked the room (very spacious and clean) and the location - very close to the old town.

What we didn't like is the staff attitude to the problems of the clients. We left in the room the SD card with all the video taken during the whole trip. We realised that only in Sevilla, we tried to call the Hostal Colon and sent them an email, but had no reply. I said I would cover the expense to send the card to us and even offered a reward if they find it, but had no reply. We lost all the video of the whole trip, and the ignorance of the hotel is unbelievable. I even think the housekeeper simply decided to keep the card for themselves.

I have enjoyed staying here in the past and this stay was great.The staff is friendly and helpful. The location is central, and the appointments and decor, traditional. Special thanks to Tere.

Excellent budget priced hotel - very friendly staff. Car parking in Antequera can be a problem but the hotel has its own garage about 100m away. You need to request a place when booking.

Basically, we liked everything. The rooms are spacious, clean and very comfortable, there is a small fridge in each room, no problems with hot water, there is a computer with free internet access available to guests, the hostal has a very downtown location.

It may be difficult to park the car around the hostal.

It was like going back in time, the corridors are filled with objects and furniture from all different times and all different uses

Das Hotel ist mit Navigation gut zu erreichen. Die Tiefgarage befindet sich um die Ecke. Sehr hilfsbereites Personal. Uns wurden gleich gute Tipps zum Essen und Sehenswürdigkeiten mitgegeben. Der Ort hat viele, viele, viele Kirchen und zum Einstieg nach Andalusien gut geeignet. Der Zwischenstopp auf dem Weg nach Ronda hat sich gelohnt (Fahrtzeit von Flughafen Málaga ca. eine Stunde)

Die Zimmer zur (Hauptverkehrs) Straße sind laut. Die Ausstattung sehr "plüschig"; fast museeumsartig. Aber das ist ja Geschmackssache.
