This impressive castle is located in Gautegiz Arteaga, in the Basque Country’s Urdaibai Nature Reserve. It offers a gourmet restaurant with a roof terrace boasting fantastic countryside views. Originally built in the 13th century, Castillo de Arteaga was restored in the 19th century in the Neogothic style. The charming, air-conditioned rooms feature free Wi-Fi, flat-screen TV and a private bathroom with a hairdryer, bathrobe and slippers. The hotel’s restaurant offers quality Basque cuisine. There is also an extensive wine cellar, where you can enjoy tasting sessions. The countryside around the Castillo de Arteaga is great for hiking, and you can drive to the coast in around 10 minutes. Guernica, the inspiration for Picasso’s famous painting, is also 10 minutes away. You can drive to Bilbao in 35 minutes. Very large rooms, well appointed. Fantastic restaurant. Great roof gardens. Quiet location in a very charming part of Spain. Quite expensive but good value for money

This is a wonderful old castle turned into an absolutely awesome hotel. It is pure luxury with the most wonderful hotel staff I have ever encountered. I speak no Spanish, but the staff are fluent and very happy to engage in English. The service was brilliant. Don't even think about dining anywhere else! The breakfast is an experience in itself, and the dinners demonstrate the true calibre of the chef. Initially we thought they were a bit pricey compared to other places in Spain, so we were thought we were treating ourselves dining there. Then we dined elsewhere in Spain paying almost the same, and so realised just how much we were in fact treated at Castillo de Artega. For E10 or so more it takes you into a league of dining that would embarrass most. There is nothing not to love about this Hotel.

En un cuadro historico, con habitaciones amplias, un servicio exquisito digno de ser una referencia. Todo eso acompañado con una carta y un desayuno copioso. Un destino que recomiendo para parejas con hijos que desean un fin de semana sin carga familial ... Para desconectar ...

En general el entorno de naturaleza y lo peculiar del castillo,junto al agradable trato del personal, la ubicación para conocer otras ciudades. Las cosas del norte de España con el clima. Y que el ultimo día mientras desayunabamos antes de dejar el hotel entraron a la habitación, estando el cartel de no molestar para al subir con posterioridad a la habitación poder terminar de recoger sin tener a la asistenta en medio, simplemente para coger las flores que adornaban la habitación y usarlas en otra.

Nous sommes enchantés par le lieu, la beauté et l'authenticité du site. Le château a été aménagé avec un goût sûr, mélant ancien et modernité dans les parties annexes (voir la superbe salle à manger). L'accueil est extrèment chaleureux. Le personnel ne savait que faire pour nous contenter. Discrétion, propreté, confort, tout est parfait. Et ne parlons pas de la table ...excellente, raffinée ...jusqu'au petit déjeuner !!! Nous allons y retourner rapidement. Pour nous note maximale !!!

Perfecto para ir en pareja. La comida es algo cara pero merece la pena. Las habitaciones son muy acogedoras y románticas. Una bañera enorme. En resumen, una gran elección.

FABULOSO! Nos ha encantado todo! Repetiremos sin duda! Estuvimos en una habitación doble sencilla pero era preciosa, con sus maderas antiguas, su chimenea etc. El restaurante tiene una cocina deliciosa, merece pagarlo, y el desayuno muy copioso y variado. El personal muy amable, detallistas. Minibar incluido. El comedor y la biblioteca super acogedores! Nos encantó! La ducha de la habitación (202) un poco estropeadilla. Pero sin duda un balance más que positivo.
