Wonderful staff!!! The gentleman in charge is exceptionally friendly and gives a once-in-a-lifetime tour of the old church next door.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Good storage space. Very clean. Beautiful view of the city from our room. A good sense of the past in a modernized old castle.

The building was renovated in 2006 and is in the heart of the town, adjacent to the (leaning) Mudejar clock tower. About 35-45 minutes' drive from Zaragoza in a fascinating medieval hill town. Parking available.

To put all comments in context: my 16 year-old son and I traveled in February 2013 (off season) and we do not speak much Spanish. I thought we may have been the only guests in the hotel (12 rooms) but it looked like another room may have been rented, judging from the breakfast setup. The host family (owners?) appeared to live in the hotel and while not at all unfriendly, lacked any real warmth. I almost felt that our presence was an intrusion. I was particularly disappointed when we asked about dinner possibilities aside from the hotel's own breakfast/dining room to be indicated two vague options "that may not be open" and when I asked if they could perhaps call to see if they were in fact open (it was chilly, dark, not too close, and 21h–the earliest time we could get dinner at the hotel or elsewhere), we were informed that no, they couldn't call for us and didn't really know the names of the places either. Given the remoteness of the town and its location, I would have liked the hosts to have been more knowledgeable, more informative, and more accommodating. Even to have had information on their own establishment, a fascinating former fortress reconverted in 2006–I felt like I had to really dig for basic information (the only historical photo they could show me came from a menu). The town of Ateca is fascinating but in February, we could see nothing open aside from the two mini-markets at the base of the hill and one café (where we ended up having a pretty awful dinner) just outside the main town square. The church was not open to visit (appointment only). All else appeared to be private homes (more than half in ruin), no businesses. The church, the clock tower, and the hotel itself seemed the only interesting structures in the town and none were public. We stayed in Daroca the following evening and had a fantastic time with a completely opposite experience—funny how the two towns have virtually the same official population too.

The hotel is set in a Xth century moorish castle. The rooms are spacious and the staff friendly. The food is excelent.

amazingly unique hotel more accessible than a parador but with the venue history and the amazing cuisine at the hotel restaurant. my husband and I were on our honeymoon and had a wonderful night especially the meal made by hotel owner who provided complimentary cava to celebrate!

nothing but worth noting more basic facilities than upmarket hotels.

Having just eaten the best steak I have eaten in this Millennium, I cannot do anything else but recommend the hotel as a great place to eat. Less sure though about the accommodation. The hotel is part of an old monastery and you will have a highly memorable experience, if the weather is dry and warm, eating dinner on the terrace looking at the town's cathedral. However the hotel itself is showing some obvious signs of wear and tear, which is surprising when it only opened within the last decade. In the public areas, the plaster is coming off the wall and the ornamental pond is covered with green algae. The bedroom we stayed in was very small and the shower was probably the smallest that I have ever washed in - just. It is very good value indeed - in terms of the accommodation, food and wine. I wouldn't say don't go, but just don't expect too much, except for the steak.

Small boutique hotel with good food. We chose a small double room as we were only staying for one night. This was excellent value for money but I think it would have been better to pay a little extra for the slightly larger room.

The location at the top of the town. Access was difficult with such narrow streets.

It is in a beautiful setting for a 1 night stay, not sure if there is much around if staying longer. The hosts are welcoming and the food is amazing. Room was very clean and spacious. We had our dog with us and it was no problem having him in the restaurant and on the terrace.

Booked as a stop between Madrid & San Sebastian, allowing morning in Madrid being only 2.5 hours drive away. Pleasantly surprised, small village offering very friendly welcome all-round. Reassuringly informed as shown to room, the clock tower does not chime at night, first morning chime at 9am. Breakfast fair to good.

Beautiful setting. A 5star meal cooked and served by Miguel. Because of restoration work at the church very difficult access with lots of stairs, but worth the effort, though my back didn´t appreciat it. Dont miss this hotel`.

Extremely good value. Good food - pleasant surroundings. The Manager was extremely helpful and knowledgeable of surrounding attractions.

It was a charming stone building (Moorish?) in the heart of Ateca. You had to spot the sign which led you through the heart of the old town to the top of the hill. Very good room. The hotel sported an atmospheric small courtyard. Dinner was possibly the best meal we had in Spain. And the price we got through Booking.com was an absolute bargain. The reason it only scored 9 was that I NEVER score 10 out of 10 as a matter of principle.

The lovely welcome, very pleasant setting,very comfortable clean room with en-suite. Top score for an excellent evening meal, wonderful food ,very well prepared and beautifully presented - Wine to die for - very old vines wine made by an Australian!! Plus ,Plus hotel manager guided us to Bodega to collect some in for home consumption! Ateca an attractive little old town, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and commend it to any other customers.

El hotel es muy bonito y se come genial! Los dueños muy agradables y la visita a la Iglesia guiada es imprescindible;) te dan mucha información de la zona y te hacen sentir como en casa

La habitación que nos tocó tenía una ducha bastante pequeña y no muy práctica porque no había donde poner el gel ni el champú. El secador mejor llevarlo de casa.

Relación calidad precio estupenda, cenas una pasada, la visita a la iglesia increible
