Friendly proprietor Characterful property Wonderful cooking Excellent value Comfortable and clean rooms Good parking
We had a great time in this beautiful and charming hotel. The hostess is so friendly and an excellent cooker, the rooms are great and we had a terras with beautiful view. Our stay was absolutely perfect, we loved it!
Excellent evening meal conjured up at short notice Freshly picked fruit in the breakfast Dog-friendly Spacious
Anuncsion was amazing - we had a 5 course meal for 15E per head and everything she cooks herself. We managed to communicate with the aid of a Spanish phrase book. Rooms were comfortable and quirky, and we had a balcony - bar available - bathrobes, slippers incl. We loved it.
The only problem was the hot water, which took a very long time to come through, but to be honest it didn't present a problem to us as it was so hot!!!
Back again, on our return journey from Portugal. Love the hotel, food, and surroundings, very relaxing and peaceful. Good value for money. Will be back next year!
Off the beaten path but well worth the time to find it! Wonderful hostess, beautiful hotel in a serene location next to a quaint village.
The rural feel and lovely owner.
The hotel is charming and has a real old rustic feel about it. The food was lovely, 4 courses of wonderful food for dinner and a splendid breakfast, all good value for money. Don't forget your Spanish phrase book as the owner knows little English.
This is a lovely quiet place to stay about 10 mins. from motorway. Lovely old property well maintained with good facilities. The owner is absolutely charming and the lack of a communal language is no problem at all. She is open and willing to attempt conversation; Nothing is too much trouble. It is a little difficult to find but if you approach the village from Tordesillas and see the sign for the Centro Turismo on the right hand side then take the lane directly opposite between two barns. At the top of this small short lane you will see the hotel slightly to your left.Do go as it is a lovely experience and I will certainly go again on my way to and from Portugal.
Just fantastic, wonderful welcome, superb bedroom, great food, lovely furnishings. Excellent value, will make it a regular stay.
We and our two basset hounds were kindly received. The room and the bathroom was large and very cozy. Hosts friendly and smiling and she made wonderful dinner and breakfast for us. Absolutely a place we will return to. We can highly recommend this place
The lady was incredibly welcoming and so nice in spite of the language difficulties. She served as a fantastic meal. Breakfast likewise excellent. Room excellent. Would recommend it to anyone!
Difficulties finding the place, a sign at the main road would have helped.
Every comfort in the room. Very dog friendly. Excellent, home cooked meal. Extremely reasonable in price.
After a long journey from Southern Spain to Gijon for a ferry to France, this was an excellent choice, quiet and very comfortable. The owner, Anuncia, left nothing to chance and her evening meal was superb, rustic cooking. Definitly a place to visit again and we would thoroughly recommend.
A lovely place to stay with super service.
It was difficult to find in the village - would suggest a signpost might help in the village pointing the direction.
Brilliant. 2nd visit this year, don't know how she does it for the money.
this was our second visit. The hotel is set in glorious countryside, rolling wheat fields. The hostess is very friendly and welcoming and she was happy to take our dog. Breakfast and dinner are substantial and cooked as required.
Rooms are spacious, but somewhat cluttered. Try to get one with balcony, as there are no tables and chairs outside, even though she has plenty of place in the beautiful gardens. Asuncion prepares breakfast daily and runs the whole by herself.
We had a room on the top floor, no lift, and it took too long for the hot water to arrive. As Australians on the land, we simply could not waste so much water, and consequently took cold showers. We disagreed gently with the sweet hostess, who told us that water costs nothing......
This establishment is a real gem! The dueña, Asuncion, does a remarkable job from keeping a beautiful garden to cooking breakfasts and dinners and smart decoration throughout. The place is very well appointed. She will be more than happy to have a good chat with you in Spanish as well. The room we had was spacious and very comfortable, the mattress excellent. A window in both bedroom and bathroom opened to the morning sun although with shutters and blinds the light was easily adjustable to taste. There appears to be an airconditioner as well as calefaccion though we had no need of either. Asuncion cooks and serves breakfast with crepes, juice, toast including her own tomato spread, and abundant coffee. The eating area is pleasant with a view to the garden and a large fireplace which in winter I imagine can be very cosy. The village itself is very quiet and holds little of interest, but the countryside is delightful to drive through and there are places to visit all around including the delightful Urueña with its murallas and tower and 12 bookshops! Parking just next to the hotel is easy. We would certainly return.
There was nothing serious to irritate here. The dinner was a mite expensive and the helpings were a little light-on. Like almost all establishments these days the ubiquitous use of dull fluorescent lighting can make things a bit difficult for those with poor eyesight and at times dangerous in stairs for example, and when the globe is of the daylight variety and not the warm white the effect is garish and unpleasant. San Pelayo is not an egregious offender in this regard but increasing the wattage of the globe and using warm white always helps make a room more agreeable.
Asuncion the owner was so lovely nothing was too much trouble for her. We enjoyed staying in a beautiful room with balcony with views over the surrounding countryside. Our weeks stay seemed to fly by. Breakfast and evening meals were fantastic made with home grown vegetables, salads and fruit. A truly relaxing holiday in a wonderful home with countryside to walk through and an abundance of wildlife. We will be returning soon.
very welcoming host who cooked us a delicius meal despite our late arrival.Room was spotlessly clean and happy to accept our dog
quite difficult to find
This is surely the best value for money you can get. The rooms are beautiful and the breakfast is all home-made and very tasty. The owner is incredibly helpful and friendly and the dinner we had was excellent. No extra charges for pets or the lovely breakfast. We highly recommend this place and would definitely choose to return. This has the standard of a four-star hotel with a one-star price.
This is a large stone house, operating as a small hotel/B&B, in a small hamlet. Great welcome, and the accomdation and food was great. we used this as a travel stop location, and would again.
can't think of anything, it was great.
