Had an excellent stay at Hotel Convent. We know the area well. We'd stay here again. Exceptional staff.
Wine selection not superior.
Beautifully converted old convent with lots of character in nice grounds and surroundings with lovely pool area. Peaceful and relaxing. Lovely good sized room. Restaurant good and reasonable priced supurb food. Ate here each evening. Very friendly and helpful staff. Close to the beach.
Bathroom is small and not up to standard of the room and rest of hotel. Dining area a bit small for breakfast. Quick drive to Bergur but too far to walk and taxi quite expensive.
Lonely Heavy atmosphere
Location/location/location! Very relaxing stay Good value food and drink Attentive staff Restaurant food excellent quality Beautiful views and walk to beach
Room needed airing, slight damp feeling ,maybe expected in a building of this age? Menu doesn't vary which is ok for a few nights stay but could be limiting for longer stays, a few specials would help
If you want a hotel to ease down and enjoy the pals-begur area no need to look further
room pool terrasse
restaurant and breakfast wifi
Beautiful grounds and friendly staff. Short pleasant walk to beach. Nice breakfast. Great gin and tonics!
Bed was a little uncomfortable.
Good location - short walk to the beach Lovely design and beautiful grounds Excellent food Swimming pool Peaceful quiet atmosphere Free shuttle service to beach / town
Need to drive or get free shuttle to get to town Rooms a little on the small side
Breakfast buffet was excellent.
I was quite disappointed by our room. The floor had a wet area in front of the bed, and to keep bad smells away they had a device diffusing a horrible scent. I think it was to expensive given the above.
Beautiful Hotel, beautifully clean. Xavier made it his business to make each customer happy in the bar and in the restaurant. He tirelessly and professionally works all day, they are very lucky to have him in their employ.
General concept of the hotel (old building with a chapel) and location was great, quality of meals was excellent, especially dinners!
The room we took was for three (tow adults and extra bed for a child), but it was very small for three people. The walls were too thin, and people using toilet and show located in the neighboring room just behind the wall did not let us sleep in the morning. The service was quite poor. It was usual thing not to find laid tables for the breakfast or no scrambled eggs in the morning. Twice during our 6 day stay we had to ask to make up our room as it was not done till 3 p.m. All this did not match our expectations for the 4 star hotel which charge 300 Euro for a day for three people (including breakfast).
the calm, nature, the style of the house
Very relaxing atmosphere welcoming and helpful staff very efficient air conditioning excellent breakfast closeness to beach
noise from corridor at night from late arrivals can be disturbing
the room was spacious (also because they gave us a free upgrade to a suite), clean and beautifull (but the view was a roof). the pool is not to big (but therefore with pleasantly warm water, prefect since very few outside pools are heated). the pool area is beautifuly and lined with trees and quiet the hotel ambiance is perfect if you like quiet and with a nice scenery. You will get rested. the staff is very friendly, although sometimes a bit grumpy (I was once 5' late for breakfast and the were already cleaning everything. They were at first not amused, but recovered quickly and gave me what I wanted (which wasn't much).
We ate once in the restaurant and that was enough. The menu was not impressive. The food was practically cold and not as tastefull as you would expect. the restaurant was sober (in line with the hotel), but the bar gives you a warmer feeling. You would expect the same for the restaurant.
atmospheric building in lovely grounds, excellent food eg monkfish with truffles, excellent breakfast, good staff, shuttle bus if needed to town and local beaches, small gym, sauna, 10 min walk from beach. 15 -20 min walk to Begur a lively town with some really good food and nice vibe. Quiet once evening dinner service is over. excellent mojitos.
Walkable to village in the day if fit and well as it is a very steep climb but not suitable to walk to Begur at night unless you have a head torch as little lighting on route and bends on road not the safest to walk. There is a route off road but you would need torches for this. Hotel tended to play bland soul/ R and B during breakfast and evening meal - much better to be playing local Catalan/Spanish music and build on the fantastic atmosphere of the old monastery and the historic connection between Begur and Cuba reflected in the town's architecture and cultural activities. Make sure you pack insect repellent if by the pool in the evening. Wi-Fi on the slow side.
Claustophobic small rooms, no wifi
The hotel is a beautiful building on a lush green hillside. The facilities are exquisite and staff very friendly. Meals are amongst the best we had in Spain and the attention to detail at the hotel is superb. Within 10 minutes walk of the beach or an easy drive to other beaches and Begur - there's even a courtesy bus. This is one of the best hotel experiences we have had in 25 years of travel.
There is nothing to not like!
Wonderful ambiance and relaxing hotel. Very clean and helpful staff. Great buffet breakfast and excellent lunch. The beach is close by and we easily walked there. The pool was great too.
If you need help with your luggage, you may need to ask, as assistance was not offered and there are multiple staircases.
Tasteful way it had been restored Coolness in a period of hot weather Friendly and helpful staff
Bathroom was not of same standard as the rest of the accommodation
Pool ,great location and the history and charm. The staff couldn't help you enough
The hotel does not lend itself to children large open halls ,children were screaming the whole time we were there they did not stop !!, a bit different from the tranquility promised in the brochure . Dinner was not very good ,and breakfast was the same
Helpful and friendly nature of staff. Facilities at hotel and position. We will be visiting again as we did last year.
We felt that the room position was not the best, specially as we had booked well in advance. We had recommended the hotel to friends (as we had stayed in 2013) and they decided to book and accompany us. Their booking was made quite close to the arrival time and they secured a far better room with a pool view. It has to be said that we took the option to be able to cancel at the last moment and this seems to have influenced the room that was allocated.
A very attractive hotel in a good location just 10 minutes stroll to the beach and a few places to eat. Our room facing the pool, was very nice with beautiful views and a small balcony. The hotel breakfasts were lovely as was the evening meal. The staff were very helpful and friendly. We loved it and will return.
Lovely location in the hills - 1/2 hour uphill walk to lovely town of Begur - 10 minute walk to beach. Nice size room and pool. Night staff are helpful and friendly (especially Miriam). See note re sound!
It was quiet during the week (I guess not full) but on the week-end you can clearly hear lovemaking from many, many rooms! Every little detail... I normally sleep well but the walls are thin and the stone carries all sounds. Guess if you cant sleep might as well add to the raucaus yourself! Perhaps the hotel could put some sound deadening items in the hallways to help? Plants? A rug? If staying at the Convent I'd ask if they have rooms that are not on the main hallway (I think there may be a one or 2 rooms.) Breakfast is exactly the same every day so if staying a few days it does get really boring.
The hotel was absolutely beautiful and the staff very professional and helpful. Our room was spacious, comfortable and had everything that we needed. We also ate at the hotel's restaurant, which had excellent food and service. I highly recommend staying here.
The only problem was that the Wifi signal was very weak; we had to go into the hallway to check our email. (But this was a very minor problem.)
The ombionce, the position, the grounds but most of all the marvolous staff. Their service exceeded all expectations. Hope to go again and again and again.
