Location, history, pleasant staff, comfort, good wine and food, quiet and peaceful. Ixeal for our purpose. We shall stay here again.
The town and the location. A lovely surprise with an authentic small town feel. The staff was very helpful.
View from window, price, dinner in the restaurant. There was some building work for which they apologised and the restaurant in closed on Monday so we had to eat out the first night (but we knew when we booked and they e mailed). In return we had a bargain rate and the best room. The meal was the best of the holiday and the wine a bargain - worth upgrading to a posh bottle as you would pay an arm and leg at home
Rooms are a little dated but the overall experience of staying in this 100 year old winery was very good. Staff friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good - they will cook eggs for you if you ask. We joined a Spanish speaking wine tour and were made very welcome with some explanations in English too. Restaurant was outstanding - better than most in a hotel. We had dinner here both nights during our stay. Overall very good value and very satisfied.
Admittedly, it is a 200ft vertical ascent to get to the village of Laguadia if you walk but I think on balance it is worth staying outside to have the experience of the hotel, restaurant and winery.
Reception staff were polite and helpful. We enjoyed the half bottle of wine in our room. Room was very spacious and comfortable, because we were upgraded free of charge. Restaurant wasn't open but we were recommended a good place to eat in La Guardian which is only a short walk away. Fantastic view from the town which is a delightful place to visit.
The hotel advertises a wine tour and tasting for each guest. We were told this wasn't possible, and only after we told them we wanted to try wine before we bought it, did we get a taste of two wines. This was one of the reasons we chose this hotel, so it should not be advertised if they can't do this.
Well set up comfortable rooms with a pleasant breakfast room buffet in the mornings. Limited staffing but this doesn't detract from the experience. The real gem is the old winery below the rooms and the extensive guest lounge on that level. The winery cellars are magnificent and should not be missed. The restaurant was closed on the nights we stayed, but there is no shortage of choice up the hill in Laguardia. The complimentary small bottle of (excellent) Cosme Palacio "Glorioso" Crianza was a nice touch.
There was nothing really to complain about. Letting ourselves in via security code after 10:00 pm was no real problem and the location next to the modern winery buildings means there is a bit of additional daytime noise. The breakfasts are adequate but not outstanding.
The hotel is set on well maintained grounds amid the wineries of Rioja. It is walking distance to the centre of Laguardia. The staff were helpful and the room was comfortable.
We felt that the hotel was expensive. When we booked, we were quoted about £80, to be paid at the hotel, and on arrival we opted for breakfast, which was reasonable at 9 Euros per person. When it came to checking out, we were told the cost we were quoted on booking.com had to be converted into Euros, then have the IVA tax added, which was also added to the 9 Euro breakfast. By the time the cost was converted back into £s, we ended up paying just under £100. This was more than we were expecting and more than we felt the stay was worth.
Warmth & helpfulness of Staff Ambiance of the Hotel in General Breakfast Wine
Lovely location at the foot of LaGuardia. Interesting décor (wine related).
Restaurant closed Sunday evening so make sure you arrive in time to eat lunchtime. Restaurant looked very nice. (We were informed of closure). NB Most restaurants in this area are closed Sunday evening - locals all seem to eat out lunchtime.
Winery was interesting
Under ooked food in the restaurant and a bit of a sewage smell near.
Staff were extremely helpful, room was lovely. We were shown the wine store rooms downstairs in the hotel which were cool.
Note that it is a very steep walk into town. We didn't mind it but it doesn't suit everyone. Beds weren't very comfortable.
Quiet. Located at the base of the hill town of Laguardia.
No salami for breakfast.
This has been our favorite hotel. They are just outside La Gaurdia. Staff is excellent and we will return after all their construction ends after 2014. Stay away until they get their act together again.
Loud! Loud! Loud! They are expanding their winery. Construction noise and confusion will continue until 2015. Out our window was the dumping area for chopped up cement and lumber. Our room had men in hard hats pounding and moving things starting at 8 in the morning. Our king size bed had a popped wire that went across the bed. After three days of it . . . Our hips are still sore.
Shuttle to hotel was reliable for pickup and drop off. Limited space so be sure to reserve.
Need better directions for pickup call on location and making call.
Nice location - easy to walk into the town of Laguardia which would have been a nightmare to park in. All staff very friendly, had a private wine tour of old winery (and wine tasting) as we were English and organised tour was in Spanish. Our evening meal and breakfast was included in room rate and both were excellent.
Charming hotel in a beautiful location. Nice village nearby for food and drinks, and many wineries in the area to tour. Friendly staff and comfortable rooms.
Breakfast was an extra 9 euros, but there are plenty of cafes and bakeries just up the hill.
Friendly staff, nice and intimate hotel, good food, good location...
Location was excellent. Evening receptionist was very welcoming and friendly. Unfortunately, the on-site restaurant was closed.
No breakfast buffet in the morning, although I and apparently other guests had requested it. Morning staff was plain rude, to the point of being belligerent, even when given the opportunity to remedy the situation at breakfast or check-out. Based on this experience alone, I would be reluctant to recommend to anybody I am sorry to say.
Lovely room (we were given the best one as we were the only ones staying in the hotel), very helpful staff.
