Visited this hotel nearly 20 years ago before moving to Spain. The service and ambience remain the same - excellent in all respects. Nothing

10 minutes away from Cuenca and provides room with 2 sleeping spaces for families. Staff friendly enough The room was in great need of an overhaul. We went there in winter and the heating system in clearly insufficient. The TVs date back from the 80s, no international channel, and even the Spanish ones don't work correctly. Food quality at the restaurant is rather poor. Not only do you not have wifi in the rooms, but, depending on the network you're on, you don't get any signal at all. I guess you get value for money, though, as the double room is not that expensive compared to other hotels

Handy for visiting Cuenca,it is about 5 miles outside the town but a good road takes you into the town in a few minutes. There is free parking just before you enter the town itself. The hotel itself is in a nice building with decent rooms and a courtyard for an aperitive in the evening...if you can get anyone to serve you a drink! Plenty of free parking. As is so often the case in Spain the pool is closed as soon as August is over.Worse still, the staff for the most part are uncommunicative...the waiters really are "dumb" waiters and the chaps on reception are of the strong, silent type. Not quite Fawlty Towers but definitely leaning in that direction.

There was nothing to encourage anyone to stay in this facility. The local area is beautiful but we suggest they find somewhere else to stay even overnight.. This facility may have been good once but it is now worn out! One room was not habitable because of excessive tobacco fumes. Staff were less than polite when another room was requested. In spite of a sign saying it was a non smoking facility we were told smoking in rooms was acceptable. There are no smoke alarms anywhere! The advertised pool was empty and had been for some time. The gardens were derelict and the general atmosphere was not as advertised. The restaurant food and service was just acceptable.

The location, about 6km outside of Cuenca was ideal...away from the hordes of tourists, but close enough to enjoy Cuenca and the 'hanging houses' at our leisure. For those who enjoy walking the walk into Cuenca is very pleasant, amongst some spectacular rock formations in places.

Nice and quiet. Initial room did not have air conditioning and was quite small. Easily upgraded to a larger room with an adjoining sitting room and air conditioning for an additional 10 euros.

Beautiful old building, large swimming pool surrounded by a shady lawn to relax, comfortable room, calm situation, close to Cuenca (5-10 minutes by car), easy parking... We even stayed one night more than planned to enjoy the place !

The rural setting The potential is this business is incredible however very poorly managed. The history The grounds The pool and tennis courts are great if well managed. nice fresh air in the night really no need for Air co non available anyhow. The cleanliness was very poor I do not mind cobwebs but the ceiling well covered with them is slightly too much. the pool not cleaned since a while the sides were all grey and leaves etc . were plenty ful the attendant was truly too busy with his mobile phone. There seems to be at total lack of care of amazing place, it is not just the crisis but also the management who was too busy sitting that managing bu walking about and guiding their team members.

The location was peaceful and tranquil...just what I was looking for in a few days away. The rooms maintained the style of the old building but were kept very clean. Hotel staff was very helpful and accommodating toward my four-legged companion as well. Did I say the location was GREAT?!? Ideal for seeing the area surrounding Cuenca and the quaint town itself. Just know that the wifi signal can be slow and unreliable, by no fault of the hotel, and don't count on being able to connect on demand...a good excuse to "disconnect" for a few days!

A lovely old hotel situated in the mountains behind Cuenca, Spectacular gorge drive from town! Spacious rooms, simple furnishings. The buffet breakfast is excellent. Dinner in the restaurant was disappointing - food was mediocre and staff were unfriendly.

The location is splendid and the building magnificent. It was especially lovely to eat in the courtyard during the evening with a good value for money menu of the day and excellent waiter service. Overall a very relaxing experience. There is no air conditioning in the rooms. I stayed at the hotel a couple of months ago and this was not a problem as the rooms remain cool throughout the day, but as it was exceptionally during this stay overnight did get sticky. At reception, if the phone goes it is answered immediately to the detriment of anyone waiting for service.

The setting and location were excellent, stunning scenery only 5 min drive into Cuenca, lovely walks around the hotel, clean and comfortable rooms, I would recommend the hotel for location, setting and cleanliness, but not food or smiles from staff The staff were surly and unsmiling, the meals were expensive and terrible do not eat at the hotel go to the old part of Cuenca which has a lovely atmosphere and cheaper meals with more variety, the meals at the hotel were cold, dry meat about 6 chips and one slice of tomatoe, great sangria though and a lovely courtyard

A modest hotel in reasonable condition with fair prices. Would consider staying again if I didnt find anything much better nearer to Cuenca. Nothing too serious on the negative side ... everything ran more or less as it should do . no huge let downs, but no massive upside to this place either.

Chosen this hotel because of announced swimming pool - useful in a short stop over. Very run down hotel, sad, lots of space which is not used. Personnel in the restaurant not friendly. Swimming pool in reality is quite a walk away from the hotel, not impressive. Equipment in the room - extremely old fashion, from the end 70-s. Wi Fi worked on and off, very slow. This hotel is in need of a serious overhaul on all fronts.

The setting was beautiful. The layout of the hotel spacious. The evening meal in the cloister was tasty and the service was good. Round the pool was relaxing. The place to sit and drink was perfect There was no air conditioning = though to be fair the rooms are quite cool because it is an old building. The rooms and corridors were very noisy - the family next to me were up until quite late and I could here what they were saying. The blaring music round the pool got on my nerves. most people now have personal stereos so there is no need to have loud pop music blasting out in such a peaceful setting

A comfortable hotel without too much formality The hotel is looking a little tired. It needs refurbishing Particularly the grounds. I would recommend the hotel to other travelers but not those who would stay in a 4 star hotel
