CLOSENESS TO TOWN. CUTE
WENT A WEEK WITHOUT ANYBODY TO CLEAN CAVE OR CHANGE BEDDING. SEWAGE SMELL IN THE EVENINGS
The noisy British child next door,
Loved the rural location, yet close enough to Baza to buy provisions for self-catering. Loved the caves and the different rustic decor in each cave. The coolness inside was perfect for sleeping. Really enjoyed our stay. Much more fun than a hotel room. Hope to go back again.
A little difficult to find despite Google maps etc. A couple of signs as you get closer to the Cuevas would help.
The cave house was everything we expected .
There was a very old table and 2 chairs outside and we were 6??
The tranquility. The property was more or less as we expected. We thoroughly enjoyed our 2 night stay and were glad of the wood burner in the evenings.
The signs giving directions to the property need to be improved - especially for anyone arriving in darkness. Making the payment at the end of our stay could have been less confusing and we were not able to pay by card - had to obtain cash from the nearest town.
We arrived early evening from a days skiing, and opened the door to a lovely, quaint toasty warm room with a log burner glowing - lovely!! It was a very cosy place to stay for a couple of days.
The description on booking.com says "charming property has a garden, restaurant and steam baths". It didn't have any sign of these facilities on our trip. It also says there is a restaurant 250m away that serves breakfast. Maybe because we were there in January, but everywhere seemed deserted. The closest place to eat was in town. It was very difficult to find, GPS couldn't find the roads, probably because half of them were only dirt tracks. It would be a good idea to have signs "Alcobas" along the way!!
I couldn't stop smiling when I walked in - I wanted a different experience to a normal hotel/Guest House and that's exactly what I got. The cave was clean and well laid out. It was a bit chilly so I lit the wood burner and it was so cosy. I'd forgotten to pick up any food/drink supplies and I originally planned on going to the nearby restaurant but, as it was still light, I decided to find a local supermarket and found a big Lidl store about 5 minutes away. Overall it was one of my most memorable overnight stays. I'd definitely love to stay here again.
Luckily I did read the email but I can imagine how hard it would be to find it without the directions in the email - maybe it would be worth sending the email at the time of booking??? This didn't detract from the fantastic accommodation.
